If you’ve run out of Lee Child books, Mark Dawson is your man. Absolutely brilliant.” - Matt Nixson, Books Editor, Mail on Sunday--"A literary sensation." - The Daily Telegraph--"Dawson writes the kind of thrillers I love. Non-stop, grab-you-by-the-throat tales of doing the right thing no matter the odds. Simply excellent." - USA Today bestselling author Brett Battles--"It’s impossible not to think of Lee Child’s super-selling Jack Reacher." - The Times--"Mark Dawson has all the skills. A great thriller writer on the top of his game." - Sunday Times bestselling author Steve Cavanagh--"Dawson maintains the reader’s interest throughout and the pages turning. It is easy to see why he has found such a big readership. He deserves it." - Crime Fiction Lover
Mark Dawson was born in Lowestoft and grew up in Manchester and Chicago. He has worked as a lawyer and currently works in the London film industry. His first books, "The Art of Falling Apart" and "Subpoena Colada" have been published in multiple languages.
He is currently writing two series. Soho Noir is set in the West End of London between 1940 and 1970. The first book in the series, "The Black Mile", deals with the (real life but little known) serial killer who operated in the area during the Blitz. "The Imposter" traces the journey of a criminal family (think The Sopranos in austerity London and you'd be on the right track).
The John Milton series features a disgruntled special agent who aims to help people to make amends for the terrible things that he has done. Mark, as a child of the 80s, will freely admit that he watched a lot of The Equalizer in his youth.
How many books are in this series? Although the books are by quasi-stand alones and each book is different, I have been enjoying each book. Definitely recommend.
Hi y'all. I've just finished this 3-some -- took about 3-4 months, but then I don't read any book by one author, one after the other.. I leave a week or month or two between readings from that author as it increases the enjoyment of reading that author by A LOT! I recommend it. Also you don't become jaded with the poor bugger.
This 16-18 compendium (3-some), as with the 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15, was great, I think Mark Dawson has hit the jackpot with his Milton series. However I've read his Beatrix Rose series also; a lot fewer; and one or two others also. I think they're all great, and imaginative. And since I'm more or less at the end of that series, I'll have to find another favourite from his stable.. Think of what it takes to write a book with fresh ideas every time!! Of course some authors manage hundreds of books, HOW do they do it? Agatha Christie was pretty productive, though although I've seen various movies made from her books, I'm not sure I've read any. I'll have to check.
I like Milton and have read most of the books in the series. But his predilection for beautiful dumb women is too much and the one in this book was the worst yet. She can’t seem to grasp the need for caution, everything she says and does makes things worse, etc. please John, find a woman that’s a match for you and stop with the martyr complex
The format is dated now and it felt that many sections of thus series were padded out with unnecessary descriptions. I don't feel inclined to read any more of Mr Dawson's work.
Ever ready to help no matter what the cost to himself
This set of John Milton series once again will not disappoint, in the thick of it his every waking hour his is to help where it's needed and then move on not giving himself a chance of a relationship and now control once again wants him ended I highly recommend this series
