One marriage on the brink. One love long since lost. Two continue to repeat their past mistakes, or realize that they’re stronger together than they could ever be apart. Kate Kate was dreading the end of their pleasant, albeit boring, vacation. Going home meant a return to a life that had become monotonous and lonely, even with her best friend and husband beside her. When she runs into the mysterious stranger in the bar, she knows that her innocent, kind hearted husband had a secret. What she didn’t realize was that it would change the course of their lives forever. Matt Matt was finally where he wanted to be in life. He was married to a woman that was beautiful inside and out, had a nice home in New York, and had just gotten the promotion he’d always wanted. But, no matter how good things were going, a shadow from his past hung over everything. A huge, muscled shadow with a perfect jawline and eyes that made him shake with anxious, hungry energy. When he comes face to face with those eyes out of the blue, his old and new worlds collide. On the brink of disaster, all he can hope is that he won’t lose them both. Ben Ben had spent the last eight years running; from his past, from a series of bad choices, and from the memory of a golden-haired boy that had been more than just his best friend. When a winter storm brings that boy into his bar, followed closely by his gorgeous wife, he knows it’s now or never. Everything in his bones told him it was a bad idea…but then, he’d always been the ones with the bad ideas. Wasted time is an intricate second chance love story with steamy bisexual love, past and present story lines, and three stubborn souls that are on the brink of their happily ever after. This is a stand-alone, full-length romance novel with a guaranteed HEA, no cliffhangers, and no cheating.
I am a newbie to this genre, but as far as MMF romance goes, this is the best I have read. Not only is it packed full of amazing characters and serious steamy moments, but the author also developed a very realistic and emotional story regarding Ben and Matt's childhood and teenage years in order to make the reader understand the strength of their bond. I have read some MMF romance that was honestly silly and the writing was just soooo bad. However, I loved the writing style, found no editing issues that I can recall, and just loved that she could blend such a touching plot with so much off the charts chemistry. Kate was perfection, Ben needed to get over his sadness and hurt, and honestly, Matt just needed to man-up. But by the time it was all over with, I was completely in love with all three characters and only wanted a happily ever after for them!
Ok. So I started reading “racey romance novels” in December. And, what I’ve learned is that the stories and the characters are so interesting. How it all unfolded. And, why. I googled MMF because I didn’t know what it was. I thought it was a wrestling acronym! Yes-I am 50. Yes-I am admitting this to the world (or the goodreads world). Yes-we read to learn whether it is history, historical fiction, and even romance involving a variety of relationships. So, yeah, this “vanilla” middle ager enjoys modern romance novels. And, this book had such a great story. I need to read a lot of these quick reads if I am going to hit my 2024 book read challenge :). Enjoy!
Kate and her husband Matt's flight home after their vacation is delayed due to bad weather and they find themselves stuck in Chicago. But while at the airport bar, they run into an old friend of Matt's -- Ben.
But Ben and Matt have a long history. Their friendship didn't end well. And their friendship always had very blurry lines.
As they stay at Ben's apartment while waiting for the snow storm to pass, the three of them get tangled up together -- physically and emotionally. Old feelings rekindled alongside faded wounds being re-opened. Can they find healing and happiness together as a threesome?
This was a pretty good read. I went into it expecting mostly smutty goodness. But it turned out to also have a lot of heart too.
I absolutely LOVE the best friends to lovers trope -- especially when it comes to m/m romance. So reading the chapters from Matt and Ben's past was super sweet. I loved that we got to see how they grew from best friend to lovers. It really added a lot of depth to their relationship.
The angst was real in this though. Both Matt and Ben are super stubborn and hard headed. And honestly? Without Kate there to knock some sense into the both of them, I think they would've passed up their second chance together.
I loved this about the relationship though. Despite Matt and Ben having such a long history, I really understood how Kate brought something to the table that both of them needed. She didn't feel like an afterthought to me, it felt like she was truly a missing piece to their puzzle.
The story was good and developed quite nicely for being a shorter book. I thought it was well done. We had time with Ben and Kate alone to bond, as well as Kate and Matt working through their marital issues, and of course Matt and Ben healing all those old hurts. It was well balanced and worked well.
The sex was hot and steamy. I loved Ben's dominance. I only wish we would've got some DP or DVP, but alas we did not. But it was still pretty steamy.
Overall I enjoyed this! It was a good MMF read. Likable characters, good emotional connection between them, and steamy sex to top it all off. I'd recommend it for fans of MMF romance.

Maybe it’s the MM junkie in me. Male/Male romance is what I predominantly read but occasionally, of the story intriguing enough I will dip into this genre.
Even when the males touch sexually there always seem to be something lacking in their relationship emotionally and/or physically. But not here with this story. It also wasn’t just filled with filthy sex. Yes the sex in this one is hot as fuck but there was more heart and emotion
Matt and Ben are childhood best friends. They meet when Ben moves into Matt’s neighborhood when they’re teenagers and the two boys become fast friends!
The story alternating between the past giving us a background to Ben and Matt and the present with Matt and his wife Kate...
There are ultimately two stories weaves into one. The Matt/Ben storyline and Matt’s strained marriage with Kate.
Without spoiling too much Matt and Kate run into Ben in an airport during a snowstorm in Chicago and immediately Kate recognized that something has happened between the two men.
We get flashbacks as to why their relationship ended so badly nearly a decade ago.
Alright I fucking loved Kate. She is the bridge that brings the two men together. These guys are stubborn af!
The ending had me nearly in tears. It was just such a heartfelt and sexy book. I wanted all three to have their hea!
This book was just ok. It has steamy parts but it was just kind of meh. I had trouble connecting with the characters and after a while you just kind of was to say "REALLY?!?! What is wrong with you??" Several times I nearly gave up and it is only 225 pages. The characters seem oblivious and very naive. I'm all for innocent but the characters just seemed dumb at times. There just isn't enough meat to the characters. It isn't a bad book but it just didn't work for me.
Wasted Time is about old wounds, past resentment and anger, second chances, new love, old love, and all the messy emotions in between. I really enjoyed this one and the past glimpses we get to see of Ben And Matt’s past really tied everything together nicely. A great MMF bisexual poly romance to curl up with for a night.
TW: discussion of parental neglect/abandonment and past deaths of parents
This story is a great story for a short steamy romance. I loved it because this story rotates around plot. There is some angst, some great mmf scenes, and a happy ending. I only wish I could have more for the epilogue, but I always want some more at the end of an angsty story.
True to its title, without Kate, Ben and Matt would’ve wasted more time but they wouldn’t have met Kate!Eventhough everything happened within days, the storytelling flows smoothly. No dialogues or scenes ever felt stuttered or forced. The only thing i can complain is its too short esp the ending. I would like to see how the threesome grows! Recommend!
I wasn’t expecting much from this but I was absolutely swept away in the story. The sex scenes and others interspersed with Matt and Ben’s back story made it an interesting, engaging and sexy read!
I liked the backstory and character development, and I like that the author didn’t shy away from the MM sex scenes or treat them as typical. I enjoyed reading the MMF love story, not just the sex.
This was a deep story of pain, anger, low self worth that met bubbly and fun n straight talk. It was an interesting and entertaining book. But would have like more of ben story ..
🫶🏽🫶🏽 Matt, Ben and Kate were just 😉. Lowkey, I wish Matt and Kate were not having issues before they slept with Ben. Overall, I had a good time. They had a time last nighttttt🌶🌶🌶🌶. I’m glad Matt and Ben finally opened up to each other.

I really enjoyed this book! Was my first by Eliza King. She did a fabulous job in terms of writing, especially when juggling past and present. A story of heartbreak and forgiveness.
-v sexy (a little rushed through) 🔥🔥 -decent writing, flowed nicely, appropriately dramatic -enjoyed the flashback style as we learned about Matt/Ben’s history
Cute read very short there’s a few spelling errors but nothing horrific. If your looking for a cute short not cliffhanger MMF book I would definitely recommend.
