The story begins in the fortress of Kandrakar where the Oracle senses that the time has come for the Guardians to be tested once again.

This issue is irrelevant, except for providing more information on the creation of Kandrakar (I could poke my fingers through all those holes).

The story starts with them wanting to know if they can use the other elements to an extent, after Will accidentally uses fire. But somehow the girls can't articulate this simple thought, and it ends with them testing if the element they work with as guardians is their destiny by picking a new one 🤔🤷‍♀️

Which, for us readers who have already read the Special Issue: Cornelia and Caleb: A Love Not Meant to Be, is a no brainer. That issue centers on alternate timelines. In one of them, Cornelia gives up being a guardian, so Will takes over the earth element and Orube becomes The new Keeper of the Heart of Kandrakar.

But it gets even more nonsensical, as Will is the only one whose destiny isn't called into question, therefore only the elemental power guardians are going through the test! But somehow in an alternate life, Will gave up the heart?! Okay, do the writers even study the source material? This isn't Marvel or DC. Nobody punched a "reality wall"! (this is a Superboy Prime, Infinite Crisis reference. Sorry for any confusion)

Me telling Hay Lin she can fly (🥃🥛) is nothing new. I did it twice 15 pages in. But reminding Taranee? That's new! Like am I going insane, or can you combine water and air to like fight off and manipulate a magical ice tower? And repair cracks? *slurps juice disgruntled*

Will got to save the day and be the special chosen cookie yet again. The girls couldn't hold their own in environments with their new elements for some reason. Like the attacks made no sense. And then they decided to keep their original powers, as expected 🙄🥤

I'm not a fan of plenty of art in this issue. Why are Taranee's shorts drawn like underwear suddenly?!
