Pearl Lake #1

One Moonlit Night

Rate this book
Is he the stalker from my past, a gold digger, or a gigolo?

She can’t decide which, but what else is author Abbi Petersen supposed to think when an attractive man looks at her with that spark in his eyes? She’s older, he’s younger, she lives with a menagerie of pets; he lives alone. Speaking of which, he stole her dream home right out from under her. The one right next door to her. The one that would never go up for sale, she was told. What’s next, her money or her heart?

The only thing Hollywood’s leading British actor Ben Quinn is interested in is hightailing it out of Tinseltown. He buys a buddy’s house on the remote shores of Pearl Lake in Ontario, Canada, and finds it to be the perfect spot to hide from the paparazzi’s lenses, especially when he meets Abbi, his new neighbor. She has no clue who he is. Attractive, quirky, klutzy, and oblivious; she’s the perfect woman for him. He just needs to convince her.

But how? When there is someone lurking beyond the shadows?

This was a fun, fast read. I love the older woman/younger man story. I'm glad that all the books had been put into one when I bought it. No cliffhangers. You get it all. Love, danger, suspense, and just when you think everything is going to run smoothly, you find out it's not. At least not yet. Want to know what happens and who the bad person is? Grab the book.

This book needed a better editor - there were a lot of grammatical errors, and continuity problems. I have difficulty getting through a book when such errors seem so blatant and easily corrected. I found myself disappointed by this book. Abbi's character - it had the potential due to the trope (older woman/younger man) - was a bit much: she cried over things that didn't make sense to me (maybe they make sense to others), and the other characters just reacted very inappropriately to the situations they found themselves in (Abbi's sister Kim for instance). I liked the premise of Ben's character but the words used by the author were what we non-Brits think they talk like - it just didn't seem to flow properly. The mystery part was pretty good, and the twists there were what made me finish the book, but, again, I think the author needed to edit this one a bit more before publishing it. I also don't care for cliffhanger endings.

What a rollercoaster ride of emotions!

This author had me experiencing every emotion under the sun! Abbie and Ben's journey was definitely an experience! The characters and story development were great!

Love with a touch of suspense

Tina Marie’s One Moonlit Night has a little bit of everything: romance, suspense and just a touch of paranormal. With a twist on the older man, younger woman trope, this story swaps the main characters making the writer, Abbi Petersen older than the handsome actor Ben Quinn. Their lives soon start to look like her murder mystery book as people from their pasts seem to want to ensure they don’t have a future. Marie portrays Abbi as a woman in her 40’s who frequently doesn’t think she deserves the younger Ben despite his constant protests to the contrary. Thrown into the mix are a number of characters who flesh out this book nicely. It’s a bit long and could have used a proofreader, but the story itself is well thought out and delivered well. Marie has a bright writing future ahead of her.

Craziness & murder

If the author had had the intelligence to leave out all the totally unnecessary foul language, this would have been a 5 star review. It was convoluted enough to satisfy any mystery buff. In my opinion, the foul language was sheer laziness.(jnsert swearing here ,because the dictionary is not available to choose an appropriately witten word denoting anger, shock or horror.

Meh

Poor writing, particularly punctuation. This is the second book in a row I have read that's full of comma splices, and I am now sick of them!
I liked Ben, but Abby cried constantly and blushed too much for a woman of her life experience.
The ending is not satisfactory, so you would need to read the rest of the books.
I won't.

I gave it a try since it was rec to me, but it seemed to have a very childish vibe to it. Hard to explain, it wasn't horrible, but after trying for a couple of days, I just couldn't finish it :(

Interesting story

This story held my interest through all the sections. Lots of suspense with many twists. Good character development. The animals played an active part.
