Solving mysteries can be murderWhen a famous artist boards the Aurelia, no one expects his work to be interrupted by a death, especially when the victim is the artist’s muse who seemed vibrant and full of life just hours before. The official verdict is suicide, but that doesn’t sit well with our famous sleuth and all too soon she is poking her nose where someone doesn’t want it.None too surprisingly, it’s not long before the verdict is brought into question – and the team find a ruthless killer clever enough to disguise their crime. Clever, but not clever enough. The evidence is compelling. But is it real?Presented with a killer, Patricia suspects someone else, but as she clashes with everyone on board, is she right or wrong? Is she leading herself astray? Or is she the only one with the brain to figure this out? With the ship just a few hours from Southampton, she’s running out of time to convince everyone, including herself, that it’s the wrong person in custody. But how far will Patricia go to make sure the right person goes to jail?'I absolutely love this series. It's so quirky & the unexpected storylines amazing!! I read the latest and cannot contain my impatience waiting for the next.'
Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.
When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.
Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.
Patricia Fisher is at it again. Back on the cruise ship Aurelia, with her Captain boyfriend, Alistair Huntley, and her good friends Barbie, and Jermaine and her assistant Sam, Patricia is in the thick of things once more, getting herself in a tizzy with this case.
It had been suggested to the owners of the Aurelia; the Purple Star Cruise Liner company; that a position of ships detective should be created for Patricia. As a test of her skill, the Purple Star company have asked that Patricia discover the where abouts of inventory that is disappearing from the Aurelia with alarming regularity.
Patricia easily sorts this mystery out, catching the guilty member of the crew red handed, but then, just as everyone is celebrating the successful closing of the case, Patricia is approached by two members of the Aurelia's security team. They inform her of the apparent suicide of a passenger and explain that although it appears that the young lady did in fact kill herself; they felt uneasy about the case and they felt a new set of eyes would see what they may have missed.
Patricia gets down to work immediately; trying to discover what happened to the beautiful young woman.
It's a very complicated case that has many ins and outs with twists that go off in all different directions.
I love Patricia's dogged determination and her confidence about what had occurred. She is awesome at finding out who did what to whom and when and why.
This book was riveting and I didn't want to put it down, which is generally the case when I read this authors works. It's got such a strong character in the artist; he grabbed my attention and kept it to the end.
This story was a brilliant mystery and had fantastic imagery and with the backdrop being the Aurelia Cruise Liner, it was wonderful.
I always enjoy Steve Higgs books, but I just wish they were a lot longer; they are such fully satisfying reads that I find myself thinking about them for days after.
Private Detective Patricia Fisher is still aboard the Aurelian making plan for her future with Captain Alistair when her planning is disrupted by murder (of course). She also must contend with a greedy husband eager to take half of her assets in their contentious divorce. Patricia is convinced the murderer is an eccentric artist in the adjacent suite. Has she ignored her advice to always keep an open mind until all the evidence clearly implicates him? Great story, convoluted at times, with all of her henchmen involved in the case still on the ship having assisted her in bringing down the Godmother in the prior book. I loved the description of the narcissistic artist and his eccentricities, how he keeps his retinue of wives and muses in line. I'm looking forward to continuing the series!
Patricia’s back on the ship with her captain. And she still has a problem with that head itching thing and dead bodies showing up.
This time it’s a talented artist and his casual way with the women in his life. This includes his current wife, his ex and his models. He brought them all onboard with him. I don’t know how he keeps everything straight when his only real interest is his painting.
There are a lot of twists and turns that Patricia has to wade through in this cruise. Plus, she’s angling for a new job.
Thank you, Mr. Higgs. I used to live and work on cruise ships. Now I get to live vicariously through Patricia.
This book is wonderful as usual with Patrica's adventures she gets an itch on the back of her head that somthing just doesnt add up. The apparent suicide of a famous artist just doesnt add up. So Patricia and her crew start digging into this mystery, many twist and turns allies, friends, enemies and frenemies. make this adventure one more story that you find your self guessing the who dunnit. I got the audio version, the narrator was easy to understand, made the story very intresting. This is by one of my favorite authors you really need to read all his books, he has a very good stories and adventures for all of his characters. You will love all of them.
Continuing the adventures of Patricia Fisher as she is about to leave the ship to get her affairs in order. A short trip from Ireland to Southampton is not plain sailing for this lady though. An apparent suicide on board the Aurelia has Patricia sensing that something is just not right and she dives in with both feet. Has she gone too far this time and upset too many people? Is the famous artist really a killer? Another exciting adventure with Patricia and Alistair becoming ever closer. A whirlwind of action, humour and suspense. This series continues to bring a smile to my face.
As they recover from taking on The Godmother and her army of assassins, Patricia and the team are also preparing to leave the Windsor Suite and go their separate ways, when the ship arrives in Southampton in a few days. This leaves plenty of time for one last case onboard. The case involves an arrogant, chauvinistic famous artist, who travels with his wife, his ex wife and 2 muses aka mistresses. It all gets very messy when 3 of them end up dead with no clear suspect.
Join Patricia and the team as they race to solve the case.
I simply LOVE this series. I hope they keep coming as I devour them so fast. It is amazing to read about a woman who has grown and decided not to let her life to to waste because of divorce. She manages to rise above it slowly taking back control. I love the arch nemesis so much. She gets her eyes more often than not. PLEASE write faster so I can devour them. I am waiting with bated breath for more.
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and this is my honest review.
Arrival of a famous artist boards the Aurelia. The artist arrives with his 3 muses, his wife, ex-wife, and another younger woman. Before long, A murder ensues, And is dreamed a suicide, but is it? Patricia of course becomes involved And the solving of Whether or not it's a suicide or a murder . What do you think? You'll have to read it It's worth all the twists and turns And confusing answers.
Patricia and her friends have just solved the Godmother case and now are free to go on with their lives. They solve the case of missing goods from the ship and then see the famous artist August Skies arrive on the ship with his small harem. His ex wife who is now his manager, his current wife and two models he also is having an affair with. When one of them turns up dead Patricia and company most figure out what happened.
Three murders on board the Aurelia have Patricia and her colleagues hopping from one case to another. Romance grows as Patricia and Alister become more in love as time goes by. Exciting adventures, witty dialogue and charming characters make for another action-packed addition to this addictive series. Always the best from Mr. Higgs. Outstanding and Very Highly Recommended.
Absolutely love Patricia Fisher and her crew and this story has quite a few changes happening that may change their direction. But before that happens they need to solve what appears to be a suicide, then a double murder. Can Patricia figure it out before having to depart the Aurelia at South Hampton? Another fantastic hit in the amazing series.
Patricia’s adventure #9 is Fabulous! There’s not much I can say without giving away a plot secret so I’ll just say Happy Reading ~ you’ll love this book! Jan. 8, ‘21. PS So dreadfully sorry 2021 has started out so badly with Covid in the UK (not to mention total chaos here in the US!)! Your books are a welcome relief/chance for some escape for a while. Thanks
There's a cosy mystery squirrel hole people die there isn't a lot of details on the horrific parts of the death. Just a group of really interesting characters who work together in a realistic manner to solve various murders. If this is the first Patricia Fisher that you're reading I strongly suggest that you start at the beginning and read all of them.
Murder is an Artform is the ninth book in the Patricia Fisher Mystery Adventures series.
I love this series! The characters are likable and relatable. The story is entertaining and has the perfect amount of humour framed against murder, mystery, and intrigue. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
I love the series & am always both delighted & sad to see the next ...... Delighted when I get it and sad a few hours later when I've finished it knowing I will have to wait on it . I adore the unique characters Steve Higgs brings to live in his writings . Well done
Patricia Fisher's 19th just makes me want the 20th...I try to wait as long as I can before reading the new ones, so I don't have to wait as long for the next! I know ,but it helps...a little. The books follow so well from one the the next, can't wait for number 20!!!!
I can always tell that Patricia is about to find out who the killer is when the back of her head itches. I loved this book and loved the scene where EVERYONE including the adorable daschunds was running to the "killer's" suite. I couldn't stop laughing at the visual. Thank you Mr. Higgs for your excellent storytelling.
The Godmother is safely locked up. Life should be entering a new and more settled phase but ... once again death and mystery cause the wheels to fall off for Patricia. Plenty of intrigue and adventure here for Patricia and her friends. The saga continues.
I received an ARC copy of the book in return for an honest review.
Patricia and the ship´s crew keep on solving mysteries either on the ship or in the cities where they stop. It´s a fast-paced story, with a bit of romance and loads of mystery, and therefore, lots of fun! Easy to read and thoroughly entertaining ! As a member of the author´s ARC team I downloaded a free copy of this book and this is my honest review.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute fun mystery! Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2021 I adore Patricia and her cohorts! This story just sets the bar higher for the series! Plenty of twists, romance and humor. It is always a brighter day with Patricia as your companion! I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Its now 3:38 am, I start work in 5 hours lol! I read this book in one sitting I had to finish it. I thought I figured out the whodunit but I was totally wrong lol! I can't wait to read the next book its going to be awesome! I can't wait to see what happens no spoilers too bad!
Ms Fisher is trying to solve a mystery involving three deaths within a few short hours, less than a full day! She is about to go back home to deal with some personal problems. She has even brought home a guest, or two! LOL. Read this fast and furious story. You will love it!
For once Patricia let's her personal feelings for a suspect influence the way she sees the clues. A 'narcisstic pig' artist arrives in board with his muses, ex, and current wife. She wants him to be guilty, but it takes her until after she has left the ship for all the pieces to fit where they belong.
I don't know how many times I thought I had the plot figured out, but I didn't . I would go around & around. But just before the very I got it. I continue to be amazed at Steve's talent with words & plots. He is so talented. You will be on pins & needles trying to figure out who done it. Thank you ,Stevie, for feeding my mystery gene. Steve's books are addictive and this was no exception. Twists and counter twists combine to keep the reader guessing till the end. Can't wait for the next in the series.
Another great story in the Patricia Fisher series. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can't wait to see what happens next!
I love the Patricia Fisher stories. They are fast paced, yet entertaining and funny. You never know what you will find around the corner. The stories are detailed enough that you can picture the scenes in your mind as you read. I am faithfully waiting for the next book.
I loved the fact that even though Patricia got it wrong at first she was still able to catch the real killers at the end. The book even had me tied up reading looking for clues until the end. I am looking forward to the next adventure with Patricia.
Another excellent book from Steve Higgs, whose writing gets better and better. A great plotline and a superb ending. Awaiting the next one and the next Rex and Albert one too
