I am Cage; here's an introduction to the journey through my life. I grew up being bullied in school and eventually found the strength to fight back. I gained the approval of my father by joining the military where I met Tamara and Vanessa, who introduced me into the world of BDSM; and where I met my best friend, Rockman. The heartache and loss I faced further made me the man I became. I left the military and have continued living by the motto of “Make no excuses and offer no apologies.”
Cage starts out as a young boy being bullied. He starts learning how to defend himself. After highschool he enlisted in the Marines. After basic training he meets Tamara at a bonfire party, they hit it off. When he gets assigned to base, he runs into Rockman ( a friend from basic training) and then bumps into Tamara and Nessa at the NCO club. That's all I'm giving away. Great first book Hunter.
I knew I would love this book just from the preview but nothing prepared me for what I read. I loved getting to know and grow with Cage. His relationship with Tamara and Nessa is so special and you could really feel that when reading this. The real life things that take place only make this book that much better. There were many unexpected things that happened and the emotional rollercoaster ride was so worth it! It's so well written it's easy to get pulled in and feel like you're part of what's happening. I loved this book and I'm looking forward to book 2!
This book really grabbed me from the beginning. The life and relationships of Cage, who he was, and became. He is an amazing character, you will grow to love. Along the way he meets Tamara and Nessa who become a part of one another. He had a best friend in Rockman, along the way in life we experience so much from, love, friendship, and life itself. My heart was opened to so much while reading The Prospect/ love ,compassion, anger, hurt and wanting more. Hunter Holmes a new author is amazing and talented, has written a outstanding, touching and wonderful book. A must, must, must read.
This book was seriously amazing and resonated with me long after I had read the last page. The characters are so well written you feel like you know them, their personalities are genuine, with attributes that blend well with one another. The trials and tribulations that test the characters are done in ways that you can’t anticipate, and you feel each gut wrenching emotion. The scenes are abundantly detailed and you have no problem visualizing every detail.
On a more personal note: I enjoyed the character development of Cage, the sheer strength, heart, and determination, showed what a wonderful man he was and became throughout the story. He had a love and sense of belonging with Nessa and Tamara that was truly beautiful. The friendship and brotherhood he had with Rockman was heartwarming. What can I say, it’s a phenomenal story and one you need to read and experience for yourself, I definitely highly recommend it!
I felt every emotion through out this book. Growing up Cage became a strong man and once he entered into the military he found a family with his brothers and entered into a new world. He found love with Tamara and Nessa and things progressed into a natural relationship. Over the course of time they saw loss and pain and hope and they had their struggles. I got pulled into the book and can’t wait to see what’s next
This book is amazing. It has a little bit of everything and was put together very well. It had me from the first page and took me on a emotional ride and loved it. Haven't read anything this good in a while. Looking forward to more books from a very talented Hunter Holmes. Well done Mr Holmes, well done!
This book is brilliant! I finished it 6 in the morning and now I keep replaying everything in my head. The story was downright addicting. I can’t wait for everyone to read it!
Holy hell Batman! This book shook me. SHOOK! First off, I love the dynamics in the poly relationship. I thought it was truly beautiful. This story gives all the right feels and some sad ones as well! I can not wait for the second book! Epically Done!
After reading the preview I couldn’t wait to read the rest of this book, and now that I have I can say that it was everything I was expecting and more.
This is a phenomenal debut for brand new author HH, and the start of what looks like will be an extraordinary series. It is a very well written book with great characters and a fantastic and easy to read storyline. It was a page-turner from the very beginning. Cage takes us on a deep, heart wrenching, and unforgettable journey that will make you feel like you’re there with all of the characters, living their story right along with them.
This is only the beginning of ‘The Chronicles of Crighton’ Series, and I absolutely cannot wait time see what else the author and Cage have in store for us.
Growing up Cage wasn't always easy. From having a hard time in school to joining the military. Cage finally found what he needed in life with Tamara and Nessa. This story will have your emotions running wild. Bravo Hunter.
Cage’s story blew me away. All the characters were dynamic and engaging and I was emotionally invested in their journey. It’s not very often that I read a book that leaves me completely shattered. This debut story by Hunter Holmes did just that. I highly recommend this five star must read!
Hunter Holmes is a brand new author and The Prospect: Chronicles of Crighton is his first book. Hunter's storytelling sucked me in and I found myself saying just one more chapter until I reached the end. His writing style is easy and flows beautifully throughout the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am patiently waiting to see what Hunter has in mind for his second book.
This book wasn't what I was expecting after reading the Preview to the Prospect. The book is ok but it had to many different stories trying to take place and a lot of information was left out to make the story flow. The story starts out really good and grabs your attention, but by it didn't take long for it to take a turn for the worst. Cage starts out a great character - getting bullied at school, then learns to defend himself, gains his dads approval and joins the military. He meets Tamara and they have a good time. Later he sees Tamara again this time she is with Nessa and the story starts going in all different directions. Tamara and Nessa have some pull in the military but we never find out how and the BDSM part of the story picks up. Which would have been fine is Cage actually acted like a Dom and the girls subs. But the interaction between them just didn't fit. Also some people may like it but I don't and that is drinking urine- that turned me off but I thought ok one scene - but that wasn't the case - over and over that scene played out. So you go from a military story, add BDSM and basically forget the military story to having a sex story and ending with Cage buying a Harley and possible joining an MC. The characters needed to be better developed so the reader knows what makes them who they are. Cage needed to be more of an alpha - he does not act like a man that had been in the military and at times acted immature. Meagan just slides in there and no one knows the deal with Tamara and Nessa. This book leaves a lot of unanswered questions and the ending is just weird.
Holy cow I have no idea what to say. This is going to be short. This journey is absolutely one to remember. I love every single minute. I will say I was nervous to read this. The writing and flow of this book is top notch. I absolutely recommend this book.
The title of this book is a bit misleading (until you read Book 2). I think it would have been better titled "The Making of a DOM". *** Potential Spoilers*** This story follows Cage Crighton from his upbringing & family life, including being bullied as a child in school, through his military service, and then after his discharge. Cage grew up in a strict, military, Christian household. His dad was ex-military and ran the household with a firm hand. We see his dad's influence in Cage's methodical demeanor as he gets older. Cage enlists in the Marines and crosses paths with Tamara, who's in medical. Both Tamara and her friend, Nessa are submissive, and it is interesting to see how the dynamic for the three of them unfolds organically throughout the story. Tamara and Nessa take great delight in showing Cage their need to serve him. Cage naturally ascended into the role of dominant. The girls take him to a "munch" in the BDSM community, where he is able to meet with other DOMs who are able to assist him with his role. You get to witness a real-life, day-to-day, MFF relationship. They deal with military and personal hardships just like other couples, but you see how their dynamic creates such a powerful bond.
Rockman, a fellow Marine that Cage served with, also moves in with the three of them after they are all discharged. Cage helps Rockman through his own personal journey of loss and grief.
There are kinks mentioned that would probably be on most hard limit lists, but it's all consensual. It was captivating to see the characters' growth and maturity through the years of their relationship. Well, except for Rockman, I doubt he will ever mature! LOL ;) He's quite the character!
This Book is part of a series so the story continues into Book 2. An exceptional read and introduction into a BDSM, D/s, M/s dynamic. As readers, we are conditioned to think that these types of relationships are dictated by certain criteria. Hunter Holmes demonstrates his knowledge and experience in the BDSM community and proves that no two relationships are the same. What works for one, may not work another. He pulls you into their day-to-day lives and you feel each and every heart-wrenching emotion. Prepare to be completely enthralled and unable to put this book down! I HIGHLY recommend!
I came across this book on Facebook and decided to give it a try. I am always up for a new author to be added to my list of must-reads and this being Mr. Holmes' first foray into writing gave me another dose of curiosity. The blurb didn't give much away but I thought, based on the title, that this would be an MC book and while it may turn into one, this first book is not.
Told entirely in the POV of the main male character, he starts his personal story in grade school and travels through high school, graduation, and his enlisting in the military. The main lead tells how he was bullied in school before turning things around to his becoming one of a menage-D/s orchestrated by two women who he meets after basic training.
Since this is the recollections of the male lead, Cage, (a name the reader doesn't learn didn't learn until chapter 6) the story is mostly his inner monologue of memories and his feelings about what has happened in his life. Prospect reads like an extended prologue that could have been compressed.
As a debut story, overall this is a decent start and I will check out the next book to see if the meat of the story has a more fuller feel to it.
“The Prospect” is a thunderstorm of emotions with believable character interaction, humor, moments that tug your heartstrings, action, steamy moments, and vivid scene descriptions. A page-turner read that left me craving more.
In middle school Cage caught the attention of a bully and could not protect himself from harm. Over summer vacation, he built up his strength to defend himself. When he finished high school, he joined the US Marines finding his strength a blessing in training. Rockman a fellow US Marine becomes his best friend. Meeting Tamara and Nessa spiral him into the world of BDSM. Cage faces many challenges and life-altering changes.
Stirring well-written debut read with an alluring storyline and praiseworthy characters. I feel the reality of this story is inspirational and provokes visualization. The author does a fabulous job showing how life is precious as is unconditional love. Each of the characters have endearing qualities and flaws that open your heart to feel their emotions. I look forward to the next book in this series. Loving this read, I reviewed this story via kindle unlimited.
This book and I found each other at a moment in time that perhaps was serendipitous. Though I was not the one that served in the military like the characters in the story, I was in love with a soldier once upon a time. We met after he was discharged and I was young, naive, inexperienced. Much like the love for Cage in this story my love was my first too. I didn't know what PTSD was or how to handle it but I knew that I loved this man. Reading this book I had a lot of Deja Vu moments and a lot of yelling at my phone and a lot of screaming to the Heavens and a lot of crying in a ball in a chair. I found out this week that this man...my first...my only...had died. So as I read this book and the way the characters loved each other, which was similar in the way that I had loved my ex, and read on with the losses and the pains they endured.....I suffered right along side them. It was cathartic in a way.
This is Hunter Holmes' debut novel. I've read a few debut novels, and I have to say.. this is by far one of the best. The emotional rollercoaster ride he takes you on just does NOT end until the book does. I was prepared for erotic scenes. The teasers included a lot of BDSM and a few military references so I thought I was prepared. NOPE. I'm the poster child for one of those "SHE WASN'T READY" memes. I won't ruin it for you, because I want you to be as overcome with emotion as I was, but trust me when I say that ending will stay with me FOREVER. This was my first MFF novel (I've read FMM and really enjoyed them) and loved learning about the poly lifestyle Cage and his girls built. Holmes does a fantastic job of building the story and the characters. I cannot wait to see what he has in store for Book 2!
This book was so good. I really wasn't sure for awhile if I would like it. But I read the story and Cage's story is so wonderful and reading about Cage, Tamera and Nessa's story has opened my eyes to so much. This story was I laughed, I cried, I felt love, I felt pleasure and I felt pain. Hunter did a great job in making me feel all these feelings as a reader as well as reading something completely different than I would have normally. The story of Cage from a child to an adult was a rollercoaster of emotional experience. I will say I have many questions unanswered and more I want to know but maybe they will get answered in later books. I may need to reread this book just to absorb it more.
So have you ever started anything and weren't sure where it was going but you were enjoying the ride? Suddenly you find yourself awestruck at the base of a majestic waterfall an think wholly ship how the hadies did I get here? This story is that ride, in the words of the grinch it started out slow and then it started to grow . Despite the emotional roller coaster its more than worth the ride. I can't help but feel the Author has a lot of hands on experience in both the Military and the lifestyle.

This is the first book in the CoC series and Hunter Holmes Debut novel.
I got sucked into the life of Cage and his girls. For me it felt more like a friend is telling me his life story rather than a fictional story.
I love how it shows what trust means and how deep friendship goes.
Its full of love, laughter, friendship, trust, unexpected situations. I sobbed thru the last two chapters. It’s honestly something I’ve never read before and I really enjoyed it.
This is a story of finding yourself. It's an amazing read and as you go through the life of Cage Crighton you really get to know who he is. His story also opens you up to New ideas of how love can be. It's a very open minded style of read. I was captured by the end of the first chapter! It brings you into the BDSM lifestyle and might I say makes you crave the love the group has.
This author was new to me so I went into the book blind. Within the first few pages, I was already in protective mode for this character. The author brought these people and their struggles, loss and love to life. I very rarely get caught unaware with a book, but the author managed to pull off a huge twist. It was a wild roller coaster of a ride and I can’t wait to read more from this author and his characters.
I wasn't sure what to expect but I loved getting to know Cage from his childhood to adulthood, it was emotional. I was a bit open mouthed to start of with, with regards to Cages relationship between Tamera and Nessa but as the book progresses I learnt new things about a lifestyle I knew nothing about. It was also emotional so have tissues at the ready. Brilliant book Hunter Holmes 🙂❤
I was unsure if I would enjoy the book, however I quickly fell in love with the characters and the powerful dynamic between all of them. I most particularly enjoyed the relationship between Cage and his quirky sidekick Rockman. There are some heart wrenching moments in the book that at one point brought me to tears. The way the book was written felt to me like it was based on actual events.
Well done, I am looking forward to more in this series.
This was my 1st read for this author. Loved it! Great read with good strong characters. Once I started it was very addictive, finished it in a couple of hours. So far this is the only paperback for this series . Book 2 and 3 are only available thru Kindle. So I will patiently wait and hope the rest of series will be available in paperback. Definitely want to read more from this author. Well done Mr. Holmes😘😘😘😘
I really liked the story and had a hard time putting it down. I had expected it to contain a lot more sexual activity based on other reviews. The only thing that bothered me and lost a star was that 99% of the book was narrative from Cage's point of view. It still had enough of an impact that the ending still affected me emotionally and that is a good way to end a story.
