SWIPE RIGHT, CAPTAIN MARVEL! Carol Danvers is back! Or is she? Devastated by her breakup with Rhodey, Carol can’t seem to get back into her groove. Sure, monsters are still getting punched, but things are also getting missed…and boy, oh boy, is she grouchy. Before she can drive them fully insane, Carol’s friends stage an intervention that looks a hell of a lot like speed dating. With friends like these, who needs enemies?! Featuring beloved Captain Marvel veteran artist David López!
KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.
Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. Other major credits include: A-Force, Captain Marvel & The Carol Corps, Jem and The Holograms, Misfits, Power Rangers Pink, and the creator-owned mini-series Mega Princess.
Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time). Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.
I believe that every heavy plot arc deserves to be followed up by a more humorous one. Given how intense ‘The New World‘ was, Captain Marvel #27 is an issue we sorely need. It is light and comical, yet still carries the weight from the decisions Carol has recently made.
It is, in short, the perfect palette cleanser. Captain Marvel is going to set out on new adventures, but before she does, she needs a break. That’s right, this is the breakup issue, and it is so much more than we have been promised.
I write this issue as an adoring fan of the Carol/Rhodey relationship. Yet even I have to admit that I’m curious to see what could come about from these changes. And have to appreciate risk when it’s being taken.
I don’t really read comics but I wanted to start so I thought why not start with number 27 :) Anyways I really like Jessica she’s so funny and chaotic, her friendship with Carol >>> Strange and Carol… i don’t know what to think 😂
