One Hot Daddy

Rate this book
One night was all we had before Ace left the country. But that was enough to conceive his baby. I thought I’d never see him again – but now he's back and turns my life upside down.

He's a gorgeous soldier on a mission to save the world.
I'm a waitress that's just trying to make ends meet.
Yeah, we come from completely different worlds.
Yet, we share one unforgettable passionate night together.
I give him my number, but he never calls.
Instead, he goes to a war-torn country saving lives.
And now, two years later, he’s back.
A smoking hot firefighter in our small town.
When he walks into the sports bar where we once met, he nearly sets me on fire.
It’s how I feel when I’m with him — safe and protected.
I even wonder if I should tell him that the sweet little girl I take care of is not my niece.
She’s our precious daughter Luna.
The butterflies in my stomach tell me to give our family a fresh new chance –
but then the fear of losing everything makes me doubt if I should ever see him again.

I’ve been burned before. Can I really trust that Ace will stay with me this time?

This book beaks my heart at times, while other times I was rooting for the Lexi and Ace to love each other. I can’t imagine growing up like Lexi did and taking care of her sister Vanessa at such a young age. I can understand Lexi never feeling like she has anyone to depend on. Little does Ace know that when he and Lexi hook up that she will get pregnant and have his daughter while he is in Afghanistan for two years. I hated seeing so many people have misunderstandings because they didn’t communicate with each other. Lexi and Ace were combustible when the two got together. Ace is a fireman, I am surprised the two didn’t burn their house down when they were together! Their little daughter is adorable and I could see anyone meeting her falling love with her. There is a lot going on with past issues and bad communication. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.

Succede tutto troppo velocemente.
Completamente a caso e all’improvviso.
No, tutto apposto. Ah vabbè.

Ace and Lexi meet and they share a steamy night together before he leaves the country and she ends up pregnant with their daughter. Now three years later he is back and the sparks are still there. Will they find a way to be happy together or will the past break them apart? Fast-paced read with lots of drama and emotion. Great characters and an entertaining read. I liked it.

Lexi meets Ace when he comes into the bar where she works. Sparks fly between them and by the end of the night they leave together. Ace leaves the next morning to go on another mission leaving Lexi without saying goodbye. She learns that she's pregnant but they can't find Ace. Now Ace is back in town for good and he looks Lexi up at the bar again. Lexi isn't sure if she wants to let him know about their daughter but soon thing start heating up between them again. Will Ace forgive her for not letting him know about the baby? Can they move forward from how they started?

This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

WOW!
I loved it! There are several editing errors that are kind of irritating but beyond that the storyline is wonderful. I loved the characters, Lexi is a strong beautiful independent woman who has lived a really hard and challenging childhood. She and her younger sister Vanessa are very close as Lexi raised her due to an absent alcoholic mother. Lexi is a bartender and one night in walks Ace who is sex on a stick. There's an immediate attraction between them and things just heat up from there. Their story is both heartwarming and heartbreaking but wow do they heat up the sheets. They are so smokin hot together and then Ace disappears and along comes little Luna who is cuteness overload. I love a story with an unexpected pregnancy and I love little child characters especially when the Author catches the essence of the child in their speech and behavior and Sarah definitely did in this book. This is my first book by Sarah and it won't be my last. I read the preview of Brad and Mila's story at the end of the book and I'm looking forward to continue reading it. As things continue to grow between Lexi and Ace the more I became consumed with the story. I did feel like it took forever and drug out alittle too long for Lexi to open up to Ace and tell him the truth and open herself up completely to him, I mean he was pretty open to her except of course for the terrible nightmares from the war. I myself have suffered from panic attacks but I can't imagine what it would be like to suffer with PTSD. After the way Ace left Lexi I was surprised how quickly I fell in love with his character. As the story goes on at times I was pretty choked up and tears in my eyes. I thoroughly enjoy this book it's a very touching love story. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

This story features two strong, very relatable characters who are both dealing with painful family issues, lingering distrust and insecurities. They have an instant connection that is soon severed, but never forgotten. A reunion a few years later gives them a chance to reestablish and strengthen that connection.... with an added little bonus thrown in for good measure.

An instant attraction, a very hot hookup and then the hot and sexy stranger disappeared from Lexi’s life as fast as he entered it. Nearly three years later, the hot guy who left her with a parting gift reappears in the bar where Lexi still works. Ace is in need of someone to help ground him as he is finding his transition back to civilian life to be difficult after just leaving the military. He also remembers the passionate night he spent with Lexie (though not her name) and deliberately seeks her out at the bar where they met. Once the awkward reunion is out of the way, Lexie decides she wants to see him meet the small souvenir he had left her with....their daughter. She tells him little Luna is her niece, and then is surprised at the instant connection Ace and Luna display. Lexi is loath to tell Ace he is a father for fear of rejection and the need to protect little Luna at all costs. As they begin to see each other, and connect on both a physical and emotional level, they must deal with secrets, his PTSD, her painful past and constant trust issues. Will this second chance at love lead to a happily ever after?

Going into this story I was a bit apprehensive when it came to Lexi and Aces relationship. They really did not know each other and when he comes back he is dealing with so much internally that I like that she is not telling him immediately about this gift of his that he has graced her with. Now that being said I completely understand her sentiment with regards to this issue. Now, on the other hand I thought that he maybe could have handled it better when she did tell him. However, with everything he is going through I can understand. Not excusing but simply saying I understand. Through this story I actually got to know Ace and I like his character and the way he was written. Luna was a real treat and honestly she is the sweet to the bitter. Lexi handled this remarkably and I commend her for having Lunas best interest at heart. That is a mothers job and she did her job. All in all I enjoyed this story and the flow was actually great. It did not stop until the end and this will be going on my to reread shelf. I love how Sarah writes her characters and her style is such that she entraps you within the story only to bring you out of it feeling better than when you went into it. Great job at dealing with sensitive issues and showing that everyone can be redeemed.

Lexi and Ace met in the bar that Lexi worked at. After they spent a night together, Lexi woke up to an empty apartment and no answers. Two years later, Ace returns hoping to find refuge in Lexi arms again.......but this time things are different as it's not just Lexi anymore.

These two finally get a chance to talk and learn about one another, although they both are keeping secrets from each other. As they get closer and take chances at a relationship, they uncover things that could potentially be disastrous for them. With both Lexi and Ace having baggage from shattered pasts and living through broken promises, they learn to trust each other and work through their fears together.

I enjoyed this book and felt for both Lexi and Ace, although I wanted to punch Ace for his fleeing ways and shake Lexi to wake up and not keep things from Ace if she wanted to make things work. Some of the time frame for Ace seemed a bit off with only having two years over seas in the military. There just wasn't enough information to support that for me. And I could have done without the description of "his manhood" for Ace's body parts. That description just does not help set the mood for me and I subbed in my own words along the way. But the story was a good one and worth the read.

I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.

Ace and Lexi hook up on his last day before being deployed. Ace leaves a lasting impression in the form of an adorable little girl. Lexi is raising Luna. Lexi's mother is a horrible alcoholic and Lexi is determined to raise Luna better. Coincidentally after Ace returns and starts his new fire fighting gig he ends up in the same bar where Lexi works. They reconnect. Lexi is reluctant to let Ace in and hides that Luna is his. Ace is dealing with a lot of PTSD and Lexi is understanding and does her own research. She finds him a good group therapist. Once she thinks Ace is planning to stay around and tells him Luna is his. Ace takes her home but disappears to process the new information. Once Ace thinks about it, he steps up to assume responsibility. They still have lots of hurdles to jump to really be a family and be happy. Ace seems to keep running off every time he finds out some new fact that he perceives as a heart breaking. Lexi is sympathetic until her patience runs out. These two have a lot to work out and the journey is worth the read, as well as the hot and steamy scenes together !

Great firefighter romance. I love fire fighter romances and this one is swoon worthy.

Lexi meets tall, dark and oh so hand some Ace at the bar she works at. When her night turns into one hot one night stand, she can’t help but wonder where he snuck off to leaving her alone with no note or goodbye. Well that just goes to show her luck with men will never change.

Ace is back from deployment. He is stressed and suffering from PTSD. When a shift at the firehouse brings on an episode, he wonders if possibly there is a way to stop them. He is deep in thought and it leads him to the bar where he met Lexi. Wonder if she still works here...if so does she remember him and the night they shared. Could it happen again?

The characters in this book have their share of problems. Lexi has a horrible upbringing, which has led to trust and abandonment issues. Where Ace has always been second best, he now suffers from PTSD and trust issues as well. These two characters embark on a journey of love, lust and healing.

Overall this book was an exciting and entertaining read. The seriousness in the characters journey to life is deep and dark. But these two souls will come out on top in the end. I have faith you will enjoy the journey.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second chance romance between Ace and Lexi. They met one night when Ace came into the bar where Lexi worked and had a one night stand. When Lexi woke the next morning, she was alone and Ace was nowhere to be found. Ace left to join the army and was overseas for a few years. When Ace returned, he thought about Lexi and went to see if she was still at the same bar. Lexi was shocked to see Ace, but was still attracted to him, but she was now a mother and he didn't know he was the father. Lexi wanted to see Ace again and told him she lived with her sister and that her daughter was actually her sister's. Lexi wanted to know if Ace would be a good father before she told him the truth. Ace liked Lexi and wanted to see her. Ace was suffering from PTSD and found he was better around Lexi. They grew closer, but Lexi knew Ace would be angry when he learned the truth about their daughter. I liked this book. I really liked Ace. I think he loved Lexi but he didn't realize it. Ace was a good man, but he had some issues with his family and his PTSD he needed to get help with. Lexi had problems with her own mother and sister. I think they helped each other in ways. Good one.

This book is amazing! Full of emotion, the story of Ace and Lexi is well worth reading. They meet at the bar where she works and have a passionate night together. He will leave in the morning with no word on a military deployment. She will later find out she's pregnant and with the help of her sister Vanessa, she works to raise her little girl Luna, better than she and Vanessa were raised by their alcoholic mother. Lexi will meet Ace again when he returns home and it will be a very bumpy ride! While the two can't seem to keep their hands off each other, problems that crop up will try to push them apart. Ace deals with PTSD from his time in the military and she deals with the insecurity from her past. They will face a terrible fire, the return of her mother, judgement from his mother and his reaction to learning that his brother and Lexi knew each other before he introduced them. In the end, their love for each other will help them overcome all that stands in their way to reach their happily ever after.

This was a wonderful read. Gripping, intense, struggles, miscommunication and family drama. The tale of two souls complete opposites but drawn together by forces that are undeniable. They are basically polar opposites, driven by the same thing: a lack of love and sense of belonging as children. One growing up in an influential family lack of acceptance a fathers approval and the other struggling to keep her family together and becoming a mother to a little sister before her time. What drew them together two years prior is bringing them together again desire/need and something much deeper. They both have personal issues but one thing they have in common is their daughter Luna. Take the journey with these two as they navigate though discovering what a true family is and working on resolving issues. This book captivates you from the beginning until the end, if your looking for a book that intrigues your mind and you can't put it down, then this is the one for you. 2.5⭐️

Ace is a soldier who knows how to deal with challenges yet winds up at a bar where he meets the bartender Lexi who he thinks will be the salve that he needs to get him over his current tribulation. Lexi is more than willing but come the light of day, her world is irrevocably changed. Fast forward two years and Ace is back working as a firefighter and dealing with his PTSD when he goes looking for Lexi. Will she have open arms for him or will she rebuff his advances? I love the writing style of Ms. Brooks but this is not my favorite of her books, of which I have read many : - ), because Lexi’s decisions to keep Ace in the dark left me a little cold. That being said, Ace is no prince charming and he has his own issues that he needs to get over and there were times I wanted to give him a swift kick in his posterior region to knock some sense into him. Overall, this is a beautiful, heart pulling storyline that showcases the journey of two people who are doing their best to live their lives day by day and can make lemonade when life throws them lemons.

This is a very touching story. It has many areas that will make you sad but also give you great joy. Ace is a guy who is not only rich and handsome, but one who is giving and caring. He has scars both internal and external from his time in the Army. Lexi is an awesome warrior. She has not let her past define her. She still remains a sweet and good person. The relationship between these two is a struggle because it didn’t start out the best and there are many issues to be worked out. They have to learn to trust each other which is a big issue for both of them. The author does a wonderful job of discussing the issues of PTSD and alcoholism and how it affects families and loved ones. Seeing it dealt with in a positive light and watching them come out on the other side better is really awesome. Luna was very sweet.

Lexi doesn’t trust anyone. Lexi is full of real fear, worry, distrust, anger, doubt and wondering why she is just not enough for Ace. Lexi has a real fear of people leaving her, just like her mother did. Lexi had to grow up fast and take over the care of her younger sister, Vanessa. None of Lexi‘s relationships have ever worked out because of what her mother did. She thinks she and Ace might have some thing, but she wakes up alone. Ace left for the military and returns two years later to the bar where she works and wants to pick up where he left off but Lexi is hesitant. Why can’t she trust anybody? And why can’t anybody trust her? These feelings override what her heart wants so many times that she just thinks she’s destined to be alone. At times this book will break your heart and other times it will make you so happy. Ace and Lexi are trying so hard to make it work, but it is it worth it? Some things have to change and she doesn’t know if that will ever happen. Really great book.

More Than Just A Second Chance⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What do you do when your one night stand shows up two years later hoping for another found between the sheets?? When Ace and Lexi met the chemistry was off the charts only for Lexi to wake up alone. Both have baggage from their past and how Ace has a daughter he knows nothing about. Going from the military to firefighting is Race's way of helping other... but to get help himself from his struggles is a show if weakness. Lexi and Ace grow from a one night stand to friends and so much more. What happens when Lexi finally tells Ace that Luna is their daughter and not her niece?? Lexi and Ace definitely have hurdles to overcome and the road to their HEA is bumpy but soooooo worth it. A bonus is getting to visit characters from previous books and catch up with them. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC it this book and purchased a copy to add do my collection. Looking forward to the next story!!!

To Ms. Sarah Brooks, I would just like to say thank you for bringing attention to a real life issue that our Veterans and others face.

After a falling out with his Brother, Ace joins the Military only to return home years later, in need of help. Ace Carter, first met Lexi, a Bartender, two years ago and this storyline focuses on not only their reunion, but individual healing as well.  In her life, Lexi could only count on herself and taking care of her Sister, Vanessa. Now, this single Mother has the option to let others in. Will she take it, or will she walk away? I encourage all fans of amazingly crafted romance to follow along and read their incredible journey.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of One Hot Daddy in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion.  I highly recommend reading this release as well as anything published by Ms. Brooks.

Lexi and Ace meet and have a hot one-night stand. In the morning, he is gone, spending two years in the military to save lives. Now he is back, working as a firefighter. He shows up at the bar where they had once met each other. But she is unsure about how to deal with what she feels. Would it be the right decision to tell him that the beautiful child she takes care of is not actually her niece – Luna is their daughter!

This was a second chance romance for Lexi and Ace. Regardless of how Lexi feels, she owes it to the child’s father to tell him about their daughter now that he has returned. He sounds like a good guy, and maybe he is back in that bar for a reason. They will have some adjustments to make as they get to know each other finally. Will she give him a second chance now that he is home?

Who doesn’t love books like this. Ace and Lexi meet one night at the bar Lexi works at. She goes home with him only to wake up to an empty apartment. Totally empty, as in no clothes or anything was there. When there is a knock at the door, Lexi finds out that Ace has moved and the apartment was officially vacant.
2 years later, Ace sets off to that bar again to test his luck and see if Lexi still works there. He was pleasantly surprised that yes, she was still working there and she was working that night.
She has a secret but, she needs to be sure he isn’t a runner. He ran once before after an amazing night, so he’s likely to run again when she tells him her secret.
This book is very steamy! There’s a lot of emotions in this book and you will fall Inlove with the story and the characters just as quickly as I did. Grab your copy today!

A beautiful story unfolds in these pages...

I've been reading a lot of novellas recently, and sometimes I forgot how beautifully a full book can explore the complexities of life and love. On the surface some things are quite simple, others seem simple, but there are many that are strongly influenced by our childhood experiences and examples. I love that we see Lexi's determination to do right by her daughter, juxtaposed against the back stories of both Lexi and Ace.

I was sucked into this world, continually turning the pages, hoping to finish in as few sittings as possible as I wondered how events would unfold.

I hope Declan gets a story, in part because I wouldn't mind a little more satisfaction on his parents end... but Ace and Lexi were incredibly strong leads, in part because of their ongoing efforts to improve themselves and make themselves better.

Could have been better

Sadly, full of typos, so much so it was sometimes difficult to know which character was speaking. I did like the aspect of exploring PTSD and how therapy can help. Even talk of getting help to deal with an abusive childhood, alcoholic parent and trust issues. But odd things like using certain words to describe body parts repeatedly far too close in the narration kicked up the ugh factor. Lexi and Ace both had serious issues but always seemed to work through them in super quick ways that smacked of lazy writing, just let's fight, make up and have sex even if the problems have only been addressed with guilty apologies. Had potential, but poorly expressed. Disappointed at the failure to take genuine real life mental health issues, incorporate a likely romance and write a more compelling and better edited story.

RUNNING BECAUSE OF YOUR INSECURITIES DOESN’T SOLVE THE
PROBLEM

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review

Lexi meets Ace, has a hot night of sex with him and he disappears. They meet again two years later and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Between the lies, the worry of abandonment, and the feeling of betrayal, they have a rocky relationship that the only thing cementing it in the beginning is the reveal of Lexi’s secret.

I love the way Sarah wrote about PTSD. She let the reader know that there were different causes of it. I also liked the way she showed how and alcoholism caused people to grow up differently, even though they lived in the same household. All in all, an interesting read.

Fate’s Hand In Making Them Whole -
Ace and Lexi had one night of unbridled pleasure, but Lexi woke up the next day alone and subsequently found out that Ace left her with a gift. The story takes us through Ace and Lexi growth and progression together, whilst navigating through the obstacles placed in their paths. The author’s descriptive writing, enables their steamy chemistry and heartfelt moments, as well as Luna’s cuteness to come alive on the pages. There were lots of painful scenes and laughter in the story, but best of all is the powerful love between Ace and Lexi, that shone throughout the book. This is a book that you will definitely want to include on your to be read list immediately.

This is a story that draws you in and keeps you engaged until you turn that last page a wonderful read that I enjoyed immensely

When Ace is home on leave he meets Lexi and they have a few wonderful passionate nights then he leaves she gives him her number but he never rings. What he doesn't know is that he left Lexi pregnant Now he has returned and is a firefighter in their town They reconnect when he comes into the bar she works at. She introduces him to her nieces Luna that she is raising What he doesn't know is that Luna is actually his daughter though he does feel a connection to her and as though he knows her. How will he react when he finds out the truth Can they be a family you will have to read to see

I love Sarah’s books. They always seem to bring out the feels. Lexi has been let down her whole life. Her mother being the biggest disappointment. She meets Ace where she bar tends and they have one hot and steamy night, and then he disappears. Two years later he shows up and still is devastatingly handsome. She has a secret that he doesn’t know about. They have a daughter, but Lexi wants to make sure he has changed before she says anything. While these two start getting my closer, what will happen when truths are revealed? This pulled at my heartstrings. It deals with PTSD, not just for our soldier, but others also. There is drama, angst, attraction, and connections familial and friends. This is one you need to read. Just have some tissues nearby.
