Spring Training

Leaving for Spring Training is not a great time for Todd and Brookes master/slave relationship - especially when there are evident problems. Todd thinks leaving her in the hands of another Master will give her the answers to what she really wants while on the other hand he needs to work with a Domme of his own to understand exactly what a submissive/slave thinks. Not an easy task for either party, but will it be exactly what they both need or will it backfire and hurt not only his heart but his baseball career at the same time? With anxiety on every page and character growth that was off the charts this was a fantastic addition to the series.

I spent several days reading and reviewing all of Roz Lee’s Mustang Baseball series; it wasn’t a tough job at all. I enjoyed every book some more than others, but overall it’s a sexy, fun, and entertaining series. In Spring Training we revisit the couple from Free Agent, the prequel to this series, and find that moving into a full time master/slave relationship is harder than they expected with both master and slave while in love, not able to sustain the relationship they both want and need. This was a difficult book to read in the fact that it’s highly emotional for both the hero and heroine, they both are made to deal with aspects of their relationship they struggle with, and they both discover things about themselves they never realized before. Spring Training was incredibly well written, it brought to light the many layers involved within the dom/sub and master/slave relationship and gives the reader an in-depth look at how far two people will go to understand themselves and each other better.
For Todd Stevens admitting he hasn’t been able to train and maintain the master/slave relationship he and his sub both want and need makes him feel like a failure. So while he’s gone to Spring Training he’s giving his sub over to a master trainer and while they’ve consulted on everything he expects during this time it about kills him to leave her with someone else. His sub Brooke is not happy about him going and about him giving her training over to someone else, but he also knows she unhappy in their fledgling relationship. Unbeknownst to her, she isn’t the only one being trained during this time and the training Todd will endure will be the hardest of all.
I can’t begin to explain the complexities of this book however; I was so wrapped up in this couple’s story; in their struggle to want to do whatever it takes to make their relationship work, in their unwavering need to please the other, and their complete love for one another. There was no doubting the love between these two but it was obvious they were both struggling to figure out the best way to live together in a full time master/slave lifestyle.
There are some pretty harsh and graphic scenes in this book and while it wasn’t anything that shocked me for some people they may be too much. Keep in mind that Todd and Brooke have a contract (as they should) and their soft and hard limits are spelled out in that contract; some limits are pushed, a few are even negated at will, but never once is a safe word used. I feel it’s important to point that out as there are some very hard and deep scenes between Todd and Brooke and between them and their trainers.
Spring Training is a journey of epic proportions for both the hero and heroine in this book. It’s not easy yet they both learn so much about themselves and each other that in the end it is worth it. While this book may not be for everyone for anyone who in interested in the BDSM lifestyle, it’s very well worth the time.

When a master submits to a dominatrix without his submissive's knowledge, does it mean he's cheating?
Full disclosure: I haven't read any of the previous books in this series. This book does fine as a standalone. Todd and Brooke's relationship is now past the honeymoon phase. Their D/s part is stalled and no matter what Todd does, he isn't able to get them back on track. Not sure what to do, he reaches out to a well-known master to help train Brooke to be the submissive she says she wants to be. This submissive training takes place while he is out of town, during his Spring Training (Todd is a baseball player).
There are so many things wrong for me on a BDSM level I don't even know where to start. To say the BDSM at the start of this story put me ill at ease is an understatement. Specifically, I didn't like how the training master, Frank, handled Brooke. It's clear to me that Brooke isn't a 24/7 submissive. She comes across as more a kinky slut who is into the sensation. She just wants to feel. Is she even into D/s? It's questionable. She bottoms quite well and easily associates the intense beatings with sexual feelings and love for the person delivering the rough pleasure. If a reader were to think Frank's training is a text book model of how to train a submissive, think again. It's not. It can be a way but it's definitely not suitable for Brooke. The training comes across as clumsy and arrogant. Frank keeps thinking Brooke is smart enough to understand her own desires. News flash: she's not. His method only makes her freak and rather than talk about it, she flips out and runs.
This entire premise on training is a complete cluster fuck from the get go. Any healthy relationship requires open communication and trust. Ms. Lee does an excellent job of showcasing a couple who profess to love and trust each other yet they are unable to demonstrate trust. They are both self-centered and characters I could care less about. From a character perspective, this book isn't engaging, except when it comes to the dominatrix.
The reason why this book doesn't end up as a two-star is Mistress Lola. She's a lovely switch who agrees to help Todd understand better how Brooke feels as a submissive. She does a great job of communicating and her BDSM scenes are deliciously sensual. When Brooke is mixed into Todd's training, it's fabulous. It's wet fantasy. Mistress Lola is fair and able to teach both Brook and Todd how to better understand each other. This is what makes the book good. The way it turns around and shows how two people who make an effort to work for something they both want, it can be so good. If Mistress Lola were to have a book with her featured as the main character, I'd read it.
This book is for kinky readers who enjoy erotic scenes infused with tough love and sweet pain.

Todd and Brooke have had a rough few months so when spring training comes around Todd arranges for a trainer for both of them. One for him to understand Brooke’s mindset and motives. Another one to help Brooke understand why she needs to submit.
The biggest problem was the lack of communication between Todd and Brooke. Todd did not explain to Brooke what he was doing besides going to spring training. If she thought less of him for going through training then they were not a good match. All doms could benefit from time as a sub to fully understand what they are asking for from their subs. Brooke acted on instinct when she found out Todd might be with another woman. Sub or not, it was an honest and gut reaction and her trainer intentionally told her. The trainer’s issue was he did not expect her to react the way she did. That makes me wonder about the trainer’s credentials.
Spring Training is the fifth book in the Mustangs Baseball series by Roz Lee. While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters were engaging and interesting. I read this book in one sitting. I could not put this book down. This book raised an interesting topic when it came to training a sub and what methods worked best. Overall, this was a fabulous book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Book #5 in the Mustang Baseball Series is all about Todd & Brooke....Spring Training begins with Todd going off to baseball training camp in Arizona. He leaves his sub/slave in the capable hands of Master Frank, to help train Brooke to be better.....for some reason she doesn't really see it that way. When Master & slave are on a course for disaster, Master trainer Frank is hired. Brookes Master will be watching via cameras throughout his house to see his slave in action. While away though, Todd will also be in training for more than baseball. He has hired a trainer for himself to help make him better understand what his slave goes through on a daily basis. Mistress Lola is not a woman to be toyed with though. Todd may be a Master in his own right, yet when he is with Mistress Lola, he is her sub to do with as she pleases.

Loved Todd & Brooke's book! The heat level of this book is off the charts at times between Todd & Brooke. I enjoyed their introduction in the novella that begins the series, this was 10x's better. Todd had me from the beginning, his character was strong but he was also not sure about his relationship with Brooke when he left for 6 wks of training camp. Leaving her in the care of another Master to teach her the right way to be a 24/7 slave was supposed to help but watching streaming video of their time together has Todd questioning himself, especially when Brooke disappears. Brooke doesn't understand why she can't please the Master Todd left her with or for that matter Todd. When the training Master lets slip that Todd is spending time with a woman Brooke runs & after days of silence ends up at training camp. Todd's been panicking as to where Brooke could be & it's affecting his playing for his spot on the team roster. After Brooke shows up the truths come out about what Todd has been doing & why & they both begin their training together. There's so much more I want to write about but that would give away too much & this is definitely a book to read if you are into the erotic genre. This has become my favourite book of the series. Definite recommend.

An expert Dom named Frank will train Brooke, and Mistress Lola will show Todd what it feels like for Brooke as a sub, so that he can become a better Master.
This book isn't for everyone; some may not like the idea that this couple is involved with "outsiders;" others may find the whippings and nipple clamps a bit much. *raises own hand* I can't QUITE wrap my head all around the slave business, nor welts and bruises, but the author does an excellent job showing the emotional and sexual need/satisfaction in these characters.
And there's a little baseball drama going on, too... I DO like a man who carries a big bat and knows how to swing it!

Brooke and Todd are in a 24/7 Master/slave relationship but are having problems. Todd has made arrangements to get them both training they need to help their relationship.
I liked how both Brooke and Todd wanted to work to improve their relationship. I liked that Todd learns what Brooke feels as a sub during his training. I also like that Brooke was not a doormat. She may not have gone about it in an acceptable manner within their relationship but she was not going to give up. I enjoyed watching them grow both as people and a couple.
I only have a couple more books in this series. I'm going to read them slowly so I don't have to miss the Mustangs and their players.

I received this book via a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I'm glad I got a chance to read the book, and I would keep my eyes open for more books by this author. The subject matter was somewhat (not completely!) new to me so that was definitely engaging, pretty fascinating! But the story was also well put together and I found myself liking and identifying with the characters...maybe not to the extent of some ouchiness, lol, but they didn't seem unrealistic.
Now that Spring Training is done, hopefully that means spring is actually coming to Iowa!

Spring Training is more than baseball
I know a M/s slave romance isn't for everyone but I thought the author did a great job with this book. Perfect follow up book.
Todd knew he needed to be a better Master for Brooke and the only way he could do that was training.
I liked watching them grow as individuals and also strength their relationship.
I loved the dynamic between the trainers. Some of the scenes were pretty intense.
Looking forward to read more about the Mustangs

Very good book! First book I've read of Roz Lee's, but I will read more! Always at a ballgame...I like to read in between preparations of the field and warmups...so it was fun to read a baseball love story! Thanks to Goodreads and Roz for sharing a free copy to enjoy! Won't be my last of her books and I appreciate the fact of Goodreads to open me up to so many new authors!!! Love it! Read these books you won't be disappointed!

While I love the BDSM genre and have thoroughly enjoyed this series to date, I struggled a little with the whole Master/Slave concept.
My reasons are totally personal, I just don't like this type of relationship. However the story was relevant to the series and therefore need to be told, but was not my favourite.

I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway and now it seems to be one of several where the reviews have disappeared. Why would this happen? It seemed to enter properly at the time.
Anyway, fun book - I don't read a lot in this genre and it's always quite entertaining, this one was well-done!
