With the ink barely dry on her divorce papers, and a three-year old daughter to provide for, Tory Choate is more than grateful to her old friend from college, for giving her a chance to dust off her life coaching skills with the Miami Thunder players. As if putting Dwayne Jackson on any path that doesn’t lead to prison isn’t enough of a challenge, resisting her unexpected attraction to the sexy wide receiver tests her control. Having tried the safe path once and been burned, a walk on the wild side might be just what she needs to get her back on track. But is she daring enough to take the first step? One of the best wide receivers in football, Dwayne Jackson has burned every bridge he’s crossed in the NFL. Picked up by the Miami Thunder, it’s either get his life on track or kiss his career goodbye. He’d rather kiss the sexy life coach assigned to him, but Alex Dare’s signals are clear—keep his hands off the ultra-conservative Victoria “Tory” Choate—or else. No woman has ever come close to luring Dwayne across the relationship bridge, but then, none of those women were Victoria Choate.

Hot cover right!? This novella went at warp speed!
Tory's husband left her for another man, taking all her money and leaving her and her daughter Lizzie. Her parents seem supportive but according to her they blame her for everything so although they watched Lizzie while she moved to Miami, she went to get her soon as she got situated....
Now, Dwayne... he's a football player, a troubled one who needs a life coach apparently, so his team hires Tory for him, but over a couple cups of coffee they realize they want each other. It literally goes from sleeping together one time to, we can't do this because you're not ready to be a father.... WHAT? They can't date? Get to know each other? Introduce her daughter to him? Why warp speed, and at first I thought he was gonna be like.... yea no kiddin I'm not ready to be a father cuz just yesterday at their second meeting he's like... I don't want kids!..... So, she leaves and he lets her but goes to see his mom and tells her about Tory, which he's met for coffee all of two or three times and slept with her, but now he loves her and wants to be her kids father.... cut to, he apologizes for letting her leave without saying he wants to be with her and her kid after knowing her for like, a second....he meets Lizzie (the kid), then Tory just lets him leave with her, to take her to preschool.... I'd be like... uhmmm, no....I have two kids and never ever would I let this dude I've met twice and slept with once just take off with my daughter.... Now, cut to the same day, or the next day, I can't recall cuz I thought it was the same afternoon... Lizzies real dad shows up, why I dunno....he wants his family back? But, we don't see him again after Dwayne throws a fit that she's HIS DAUGHTER...and takes her home where Tory asks him to adopt her daughter and he proposes.... LOL OMG, what??? It would be a really cute story if it spanned itself out over time to let them get to know each other, introduce the daughter to him even though she did take to him right away....but still.... it's like, Hi, nice to meet you, lets have sex then you can adopt my daughter and marry me in the span of a couple days... or weeks? I'm not sure which it was but either way it was too dang soon..... that part ruined it for me.... And her daughter was 3 and sometimes talked like a baby but sometimes like a toddler... like... do you love my mom? Do you love me? I'm like... you're three....
Either way, it had loads of potential, but for me, it was too unrealistic... The cover is hot though!
Great Addition to the Kindle Worlds Dare to Love Series!
This is a great read. It has all the elements you look for in a good romance. Plot driven characters, story line that is plausible in todays society and most of all Love. These two Characters blend right in with the Dare to Love World and the only regret is not being a fly on the wall when Alex Dare finds out about them. Well done Roz. Off to read The Wedding Dare by N. Kuhn.
I know this is a novella so things have to happen fast but...this fast? The hero meets the heroine's daughter for about five minutes and he's already telling her he loves her and then refers to her as HIS daughter. And then the heroine says she wants to make him her daughter's legal guardian...after knowing him two weeks? It was just too much for me.
Dwayne and Tori are super cute and Lizzie is adorable. I enjoyed watching the tidbits of them falling for one another. I understand this is a novella for this series but I wish I could have had more of their story.
