This Love #2

No Such Thing As Forever

Rate this book
The night Gage and Everly met there was an immediate attraction.

And a friendship began, one that rivals every other relationship in their lives, and one that is slowly breaking down walls and revealing secrets that could destroy a friendship….or turn it into something more.

Gage is willing to risk it all- for her. He’ll even try to be that prince he knows she dreams of. The need to protect her has him overstepping boundaries at every turn. He wants her to be his in every way that he shouldn’t.

She has a boyfriend, and he has another life…

Everly knows there’s more to her and Gage than just friendship. It would be easy to assume it’s just a physical thing; she’s used to guys wanting her body and nothing more. But it’s different with Gage. He believes in her and pushes her to reach for her dreams. He’s also possessive and protective in a way that she can’t deny makes her heart and body react.

Gage is a man with a life outside of the MC that brought them together in the first place. A life she might not even fit into.

They aren’t exactly star crossed lovers, but they come from two very different worlds.

Could forever be more than just a fairytale?

JL Lennon has done it again.

Gage is just scorching hot, and I really related to Everly as a person. Well paced, and just perfectly spiced - the love scenes were spot on.

A great follow-up.

This is my first book by JL Lennon. NSTAF is a good read age gap romance.
Everly is a young woman who’s had a rough life. She doesn’t feel deserving, although she’s working very hard to become that woman.
Enter Gage, an older man who befriends Everly. As their friendship evolves he begins to have deeper feelings for her. Yes. There are some obstacles in their way.
I enjoyed Gage and Everly’s story, but there is one part of this story that made me cringe. It’s during an intimate moment and she’s calling him “Daddy”. IMO that’s just not right.

This second installment of JL Lennon's This Love series did not disappoint. I have to tell you all that I was most impressed with how she wrote Everly. Not all heroines are sassy, confident go-getters. In real life, there are women who really struggle with self-worth, the problem is, they aren't usually enjoyable to read. Everly was described in such a way that made her relatable and understood in why she would make certain mistakes more than once and I totally got her. Thank you Ms. Lennon for finding a way to write a character like this that I could sympathize with and not want to bash over the head, it is no easy feat.
As for the rest of the story, I was really looking forward to learning more about Gage and I'm so glad he's finally out in the world! He was exactly the kind of guy that Everly and girls like her need and their attraction, despite their age gap was entirely believable, and I loved how Ms. Lennon set the scene and described their surroundings so well, it's a world I want to be in!

Do you know what a Kindle thumb is? It’s kind of like gamer’s thumb, where you keep moving the joystick and eventually you get an ugly and sore blister or your finger goes numb. That’s what No Such Thing As Forever gave me—a blister, because I couldn’t put this book down. I loved Jasper from Not A Love Story, but Gage completely dethroned him. Lennon has an incredible way of telling a story, her words transport you elsewhere, completely immersing you in her world and falling helplessly in love with her characters—No Such Thing As Forever is no exception to this. I loved the harmonization of the timelines between the novels, and how they married with each other in the end.

*i was given this book in exchange for an honest review*
This book follows a 1 year friendship between Gage and Everly has he waits for her to finally leave her trash boyfriend Trey. So when she does, he does whatever it takes to make her his.
I loved this book. The chemistry between Gage and Everly was spot on. The vulnerability and confidence issues that Everly has are something I related to on a personal level, as will many other readers I think. The patience that Gage shows in waiting for Everly is downright romantic.
This book had some SPICE. I realized I was fanning myself more often than not. JL Lennon sure does know how to write some HOT scenes *applause*.
.
One of my favorite flirtatious quotes from this book ( and there were many) was:

“Baby girl needs a hero, and he’s hoping like hell she’ll let him fill the role.”

I gave this book 4⭐️ because the plot line was smooth, intriguing, spicy and altogether HOT. The storyline did slow down at some points but altogether I would recommend this book to all lovers of MC romance!

Sweet and Steamy Slow Burn

Forehead kisses...is there anything better?

I loved the 2nd installment of the This Love series. Book 2 focuses on Gage and Everly, who we met in Not a Love Story. We see more of Jasper and Tess too - I love getting glimpses into characters we already know to see how they're doing. This is a slow burn age gap romance that packs the heat once these two get together and ends like every perfect fairytale should.

I admit, I’ve had my eye on Gage since he appeared in “Not a Love Story”. I was looking forward to his story, and it did not disappoint! He’s a devoted friend and so patient with Everly. There’s an age gap, and I loved how the couple didn’t rush into a hot and heavy romance. Everly needed to figure a lot of things out. Between her neglectful mother and questionable boyfriend, she wasn’t in a place to start a relationship with Gage. She’s a great friend to Tessa but when Tessa goes away to school, she’s left adrift, not sure where she belongs. She clings to her boyfriend but realizes he’s not good for her. The way she deals with not only how to break away from him, but how he and the relationship make her feel about herself, are so well written and thought out.

Theirs is a slow burn romance, and it was wonderful, angsty and frustrating at times. I loved how Gage was absolutely devoted to taking care of Everly without crossing boundaries. Her feelings and where she was in her life, meant something to him. HOLY HELL when they got together, it was on fire! Everly quickly tuned into what Gage likes and finding his kink has him falling completely in love with her. Their chemistry is incredible, but I think the great thing about it is the way it changes Everly’s view of herself. She finds someone who loves her for who she is and not what they can get from her. Gage has his own hang-ups but she quickly calls him out on things and they open up to one another.

This was a fantastic follow up to “Not a Love Story”. Lennon again exhibits her incredible character development skills. They have depth, baggage and are complicated which makes their relationship meaningful and rich. I’m not a big slow burn fan, but these books are too good to put down. The characters stay with me and that is the measure of a great story.

An interesting story of a girl learning to find herself, and the handsome friend who helped. The first part of the book brought forward all of her pain and feelings of poor self worth with the second half showing her growth. Well written.
