Walker

There’s nothing better than a packed house on a Saturday night, and co-owning the hottest restaurant and bar in town with my best friends, isn’t so bad either. We put everything into Burgers and Brew. My job is to keep the alcohol moving and the patrons coming back for more. I won’t let anyone break my focus.

That was until I saw her.

As much as I try, I can’t fight it. Mallory makes me crave a future I never wanted for my own.

Now, I want it all.

Mallory

When I started my new job at a local specialty burger restaurant, I wasn’t expecting to find a tall, dark, and devastatingly handsome distraction in the form of Walker Meyer. He’s one of the owners, which means hands off. Only problem, it’s a lot easier said than done.

Especially when he’s so good with my daughter.

I try to keep him at a distance, but he’s insistent, slowly breaking down every one of my walls. He’s fighting to convince me I can trust him with not only my heart, but my daughter’s too.

I pray he’s right.

Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.

Lacey Black Burgers and Brew bk 01 Kickstart My Heart

4.5 stars - OMG! Lizzie has to be one of the best scene stealers ever. She's absolutely adorable! I love how Walker and his friends and family instantly take to her and Mallory and give them a sense of belonging. ❤️💖

As for the zinging between Walker Meyer and Mallory Sargant, it's sweet and wonderful with a nice blend of heat and desire. Walker is breaking his own rules because he can't resist her. I appreciate that Mallory is apprehensive about trusting anyone, but she seems unable to help herself with him.

Because in just a short amount of time, I’ve become addicted to Walker Meyer.
-- Mallory Sargant

I really like how their relationship builds and strengthens. I also love how the troops rally around Mallory and Lizzie (aka Lou or Lizard) when trouble comes knocking.

As this is a first in series book, we also get to see some of the things that make Jasper, Jameson, and Isaac tick. Learning how they all met, some of their strengths and weaknesses, and what's behind some of their rituals is fun. They are all good men, and I look forward to getting to know them better in their books.

I received an author's copy of the audio to accompany my book. The narrators are PJ Morgan and Scott Rose. I think this was my first time listening to either. I did like both. 😉

I became a fan of Lacey Black's about two years ago when I read one of her Summer Sister books and I have been hooked since. I love the way she weaves her stories around either a close family or in this case a close group of friends. I think once you meet the men of the Burgers and Brew Crue you are going to want more of them, and more of Lacey's books as well.

KICKSTART MY HEART was High on the sweet & sexy, low on the angst, which makes a perfect combination!

Mallory is looking for a fresh start for herself and her adorable three year old daughter, Lizzie, who stole not only my heart but everyone's that she came in contact with. Now Walker is a different story, Walker and his buddies own Burgers and Brew which is where Mallory is recently employed he has deep roots to the town and one code that he has not broken, do not date employees or patrons....well that was until he set eyes on Mallory and knew she was different.

The chemistry was spectacular. I loved watching not only Mallory and Walker get to know one another but I went gooey over the way he was with her daughter. I'm serious this man will melt your heart with how sweet he is with her.

If you haven't read any of Lacey Black's books yet, I highly recommend you grab this one and see why I love her books so much. If you enjoy sweet and spicy contemporary romances, single mom romances, or workplace romances I would recommend this book to you.

Happy Reading!!!

This book wasn't bad, I just found it boring but was able to finish it with some skimming towards the end. The MCs weren't anything new or interesting, the hero was a bar owner who doesn't do relationships and has women throwing themselves at him and the heroine was a broke single mom running from her past and trying to make a new life for her kid. They meet and are draw to each other for some uncontrollable reason and the rest is history.

The relationship between the MCs and the build up was way too rushed and the kid was introduced into it too quickly too. The hero is the type who doesn't want to be in a relationship and sticks to one night stands and doesn't date people who come to the bar or work at the bar, but both of these were thrown out the window after a couple of interactions with the heroine. This change of heart happened in a way that didn't feel organic in any way and I think it would have better to just have the no employee rules and just have the hero be a normal guy who hasn't had the best luck in relationships.

This book also did the overdone thing of the guy needing to protect the girl and make her his and this extends to her kid and how he just wants to take care of them especially after seeing that they don't live in the best of places. However, I will say that I liked that the hero respected the fact that the heroine wanted to provide for her daughter on her own and he didn't start spending money on them and giving them freebies because he knew she wouldn't like it. I like this attitude a lot more than I'm buying you things deal with it.

I think the thing that dragged this book down for me was that not a whole load happened for 80% of this book outside of the relationship which I don't think was paced well, and there was way too much detail about stuff that didn't matter. For example, we get an entire chapter from the hero's pov where he's set up with someone he isn't really interested in and it goes no where and has no effect on the story whatsoever. That entire chapter could have been told in two sentences and would have given more time and space for the relationship build up between the MCs.

Like I said this book isn't bad but just felt like a whole load of nothing. This author also did that thing where they make the child do the baby talk thing to make the kid seem cuter or something, and it just never works for me.

This was exactly what I was looking for. It was a low angst romance and those are my favorite to read. It was my first from Lacey Black and I’m hoping that her backlist reads like this too because I want to read more from this author.

Walker and Mallory were a great couple to read about! The chemistry was there from the beginning and I was hooked because of the will they won’t they moments. Every time I thought they would kiss, it wouldn’t happen. I was shouting at my kindle “kiss already!”.

"In a short amount of time, I fell in love. Hard. It was confusing and scary, but I couldn’t walk away from it—from her—if I tried. She’s under my skin and embedded in my heart, right where she’s supposed to be."

Besides our two main characters, I adored Mallory’s daughter and the Burger and Brews Crue! I’m a sucker for cute kids and Lizzy was adorable y’all! I wanted to reach through the pages and pinch her cheeks. Besides Lizzy being adorable, I can’t wait for more upcoming books because I’m excited to learn more about this group of men. They have an awesome friendship and I hope they all get a happily ever after. Also, we had a bit of suspense here with Mallory’s ex and that added more to the plot.

Overall, I enjoyed this and I’m super excited for Jasper’s book. I am going to add books from the author’s backlist to my TBR soon.

I tried really hard to like this book because the start of it had me interested.
but there were a few things that just overall ruined it for me:

1) the baby talk. I can't read so much cutesy baby talk in a romance. Probably a me thing but I don't want to read "I wove choccy milk" and "weady" and "I be dood for sic" (I'll be good for Isaac). it just doesn't work for me.

2) the food. the three year old child is fed on a diet of chips, fries, nuggets, pizza, grilled cheese and pizza. The mum makes a big deal about not giving her kid soda so they give her chocolate milk instead. She's three. that's a lot of junk and sugar for a three year old. (and they send her to preschool with peanut butter which probably isn't actually allowed in this day and age but... *shrug*)

3) the details. so much minute detail is provided on irrelevant stuff. I don't need your cleaning schedule. I don't need the list of things you're buying from a store. it didn't add any value to the story at all.

4) the end. nothing happens in the book for 85% and then all of a sudden something big happens and then it's wrapped up in three pages and the book is over? weird.

5) the speed. insta-love is fine and I read plenty of it but introducing the kid to the guy before they're even serious seems odd. I don't know many parents that would let their kid get that attached tat quickly.

6) the erections. we don't really need to hear about how hard he is in every other paragraph. again, adds nothing to the story at all.

I tried really hard, and normally I avoid books with kids. I think this book is a great example of why I should keep avoiding them.

So this is the first in the series, a story about our H, Walker and h, Mallory.
Now I'll be honest, this was Mediocre, nothing extremely exciting about it, so I'm hoping the next one is better, if I have the strength to read the next. 😹 🤞🤞
The only parts I adored, was the relationship between Walker and Mallory's adorable three year old, who Walker nicknames Lou. She carried the story. 😂 Other then that, nothing purely wow about this.

I have to say that whenever I read a Lacey Black story, I feel like I want to live in that story 😊

Mallory a single parent to little three year old Lizzie. And man will you fall in love with this little girl. She packed her whole life up and moved to get a fresh start. She’s living in an apartment she can barely afford but at least its better than where she came from. So she gets a job as a waitress at Burgers and Brew and she was happy. She knows she will make it and prove to herself that she can take care of herself and her daughter. And it doesn’t hurt that one of her new bosses Walker isn’t to hard on the eyes. But that’s not apart of her plan… Right

Walker doesn’t date… Ever. And especially not his employees or the people in his bar. Did that got the tshirt not happening again. So one-night stands was his name. He didn’t need anything more than that. But the moment he meets Mallory, well there goes that idea, and man don’t even talk about her little girl. He knew that he wanted both of them. But Mallory doesn’t want or need him in her life. So now its up to him to prove to her that he wants to love them and take care of them and to protect them, but will she let him?

Aaah… Walker was so freaking cute, adorable, funny and definitely has some alpha in him. Mallory was sweet, she was independent and she was brave and she rocked the mom thing. But together they were amazing. Their relationship was hot and it was sweet and it just made me swoon. I fell in love with all the characters in this story. You will definitely want to read this one 😊 Not only will you want to read Walker and Mallory’s love story, you will fall in love with every single one in this story. I am so looking forward to reading the next book in this series…

5 SMOOCHES!

I’m always in the mood for one of Lacey Black’s sweet and funny small-town based romantic comedies, especially when it’s the start of a new series from her. I’ve read all of Lacey’s work, and for me, her small town romances are amongst the very best of this trope. Lacey typically anchors her small-town romance series around a big, close-knit and loving family, and while Kickstart My Heart wasn’t quite that, it was every bit the warm and witty, feel-good love story I was hoping it would be.

The Burgers and Brew Crüe series is about four college buddies who own the hot and happening gourmet burger and brew pub slash busy bar in Stewart Grove, Ohio. Walker is in charge of the bar. He’s sexy and this town’s version of Tom Cruise in Cocktail. As one of the owners of Burgers and Brew, he’s got one hard and fast rule: no dates or hookups with employees or patrons, ever. He has good reason, but the wind is kind of knocked out of his sails in that regard the first time he lays eyes on Mallory, the new waitress at the pub. Mallory is new to Stewart Grove, having just relocated there with her precious three-year-old daughter, Lizzie, for a fresh start.

The chemistry between Walker and Mallory is intense and instantaneous. Walker described the feeling as being struck by lightning and boy, did I feel it too. I loved watching them dance around each other, and it made for a seriously hot slow-burn build-up. He was the dance-on-the-bar, hips swinging, backwards ballcap wearing bartender that all the ladies wanted, but never actually got. Mallory was such a good mom, and I loved her dedication to her daughter. She was determined to give her a better life than what they’d had, and she was going to do it on her own. The thing is, Walker fell hard for both Mallory and Lizzie, and for the first time, he was practically overcome with the desire to protect, provide and care for both of them. It was definitely a bit of a juggle, but Walker was so sweet with the little scene-stealer, Lizzie, it wasn’t only my heart melting.

Mallory had been through a lot before she arrived in Stewart Grove, and while she was hesitant to trust her heart again, the heart wants what it wants, and hers wanted Walker. He was such a gentleman, and he went about earning her trust carefully, slowly and permanently, and his pursuit of her was sweet, sexy, so very swoon-worthy. Add in the fact that this new work family of hers had claimed her and Lizzie as their own, and she was a goner. One of the things that Lacey does exceptionally well is the building of a community. She’s created magic in her small town romances with the big, wonderful families she’s written about, and she’s poised to do that again here with this group of friends and the people of Stewart Grove. Of course it wouldn’t be a Lacey Black romance without an inappropriate old lady or two, and there are some seriously hilarious ones in this town.

Kickstart My Heart was a shining example of why I love Lacey Black’s writing. She had me rooting for Walker and Mallory from that first crack of lightning, and she followed it up with a seriously sexy and swoony romance, a plot with a touch of suspense and a town full of hilariously endearing characters. Full of heart, heat and humor, I loved every single minute of this charming story! Five smooches from me for Kickstart My Heart by Lacey Black!

Such a fantastic read. I could not read it fast enough, but boy was I sad when it was over! Mallory and Walker were such an addictive couple. I loved watching their story unfold before my eyes. Mallory just wanted to do right by her daughter and Walker doesn't date employees... I can tell this is going to be a great series full of awesome characters and feel good love stories. Definitely recommend! ~Andrea

"A fabulous beginning to a new series Burgers and Brew from Lacey Black.

Mallory comes to town with her young daughter Lizzie to make a fresh new start. She gets a server job at the new gourmet burger place in town on the road to her fresh start. There she meets Walker, one of the owner’s and right off he bat he catches her eye. For me Lizzie Lou steals the show, she is so angelic and honest, her lines will have you laughing out loud.

Walker, after a bad experience he has sworn off dating a co-worker, let alone an employee of his. However, when he meets Mallory he knows he is going against his own rules.

I loved this book, it was so hard to put down! Can’t wait to read the other books in this wonderful new series. " ~Stephanie

A wonderful intro into a new series. I am so in love with these guys of the brew crue!!
Mallory moves to a new town getting away from a bad situation. The meet cute of Mallory & Walker will make you swoon & awe all at once. The push & pull between these two was written so wonderfully. These characters, even the other guys were so likable. I didn’t want this story to end. Walker is sweet & alpha, but the way he is so protective to Mallory & Lizzie made my heart melt. I am not sure how Lacey Black will make us love the rest of the guys as much as Walker, but I know she will. I am a complete sucker for this type of storyline.

I highly recommend this book. Told in dual POV.

Man can Ms. Black write the cutest little girls!!! Lizzie stole my heart just like she stole “Walks” heart along with Jameson, Isaac, and Jasper. There is nothing I love more in a book then when a little girl steals the hearts of the big and macho men! Not to mention the fact that Mallory also stole Walker’s heart. I couldn’t put this book down from the moment I started it. I’m not one to finish a book in basically one sitting and I almost did. I fell asleep reading last night and I finished as soon as I got home from work! If this first book is any indication to how the rest of this series will be I can’t wait for the rest! I can’t wait for more Mallory, Walker, and of course Lizzie or Lou, or Lizard. Depending on what guy you ask of course!

Mallory moved with her young daughter for a fresh start after her ex betrayed her in a way that endangered their daughter. Getting a job at Burgers and Brew Crue is perfect for Mallory, she can spend her evenings with her daughter and start building a new home.

Walker is a man who has two rules he lives by, don't sleep with customers or employees. He learned the hard way and has made it a point to never put himself in that situation again. When he sees Mallory though he is instantly attracted but he is not willing to cross the line. Getting to know her though he realizes she is his game changer and will do everything he can to win her heart, but will she let him?

This was great a really good story with minimal drama. I really liked Walker, you get his point of view through out the story and it was refreshing to see he would feel conflicted at times on what to do. Mallory is a wonderful mother and her daughter is adorable. Cant wait to read the next book.

The first book in the new series Burgers and Brews Crue centers around friends and their bar. This author is one of my favorites, so each book is like coming home. Walker is your confirmed bachelor, no-strings guy. I will always think of him when a Motley Crue song comes on the radio.

Mallory needs a fresh start and a chance to make it in her new town. She is hired as a server at the bar, and she and Walker are attracted. However, neither wants to act as she is an employee and her guard is up. She has just fled a bad situation and needs to depend on herself for a while. But the men of Burgers and Brews know a thing or two as single moms raised them and adopted Mallory as their own. As she realizes she is no longer alone. Will her life change for the good? A great start to the series, I am ready for more.

Awesome story!

The first time Walker saw the new server in his bar, Burgers and Brew, Mallory took his breath away.

And then he met Lizzie, Mallory's 3 year old daughter, and suddenly a future with a family started looking really good.

But Mallory is running from a dangerous secret and the creep just appeared in their town, threatening to turn all of their lives upside down!

Mallory-
I had to leave that place behind and start over fresh. I sold all my belongings except for what could fit in my SUV, most of it being my daughters things. I found an apartment that was really cheap and we moved states away, leaving the past and my “friends” behind. I lived in a small town my entire life and felt at home sliding into another one. With the apartment squared away, I just had to find a job. Imagine my surprise when a day shift waitress position opened up at the local Bar/Restaurant hot spot. The owner was even willing to work with me regarding shifts around childcare. This place is shaping up to the best thing that’s happened in a long time. My only complaint is regarding the most stunning pair of blue eyes I’ve ever seen. Walker is one of my bosses and I can’t seem to get him out of my head. I’ve been down that road with a guy before and I don’t want to be burned again. So why does it feel like he has already claimed me?

Walker-
I don’t date where I eat. What I mean by that is I manage the bar side of the restaurant and I will not take home a girl from there no matter how much they shove their chests at me or bat their eyes. It doesn’t matter if they are patron or worker, they are off-limits. I’ve been down that road before and it was a huge mess, so I don’t plan on doing it ever again. That is until the new waitress shows up. I don’t know what it is about her but something is pulling me in. I’ve never followed my rules before so why should I start now? Oh and her daughter… her daughter is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and she melted the ice around my heart in ten minutes. Mallory will be mine and I’ll do whatever I have to to ensure it.

Review:

This was a cute little contemporary romance novel. It’s book one in a series that revolves around the four owners of this Bar/Restaurant combo that they sank life investments into. Five years later and it’s the place to be throughout the week. I love workplace romances, probably because my own relationship was one of them.

I really loved getting to know Walker and Mallory separately. I enjoyed that the book starts off with allowing us to see them on their own and what their independent lives look like before it started to slowly push them together. The book takes place over two months and I loved the slow burn aspect of it. It allowed the tension to build and their feelings to grow naturally instead of it being “I love you” after 3 days. I read so many romance books like that and always come away irritated with the timelines.

I think Mallory had the biggest character development of the two. She came from an ex who towards the end treated her like crap and their daughter as a burden. We don’t know until close to the end what happened there and it adds this air of mystery to the entire story. She is a strong independent woman who is trying to make it on her own in support of her daughter and it’s nice to see that while she appreciates Walker, she didn’t suddenly rely on him. She even flat out tells him not to be her white knight and for the most part, he respects it.

The pacing of the book was well done but the end did feel a bit rushed. This climax happens within the last 30 minutes of the book and the tension of what’s going on was resolved off screen, resulting in an incomplete feeling. Mallory finds out news that makes her question Walker and then within the next chapter suddenly she has a revelation and trusts him. We didn’t get to see it or her struggle and it is a slight ding against the book for me. It just felt like she needed to trust him so she did, despite the fact that it’s a really big deal what happened considering her past relationship.

There is one part of the book that feels incomplete to me. I’m not even sure why it’s in the book considering nothing came of it. Walker’s entire premise is that he doesn’t “date where he eats” because he did it once before and had to file a restraining order against the girl. Well, she randomly shows up and the interaction is tense as Walker is disgusted with her. She noticed Mallory and Lizzie and it doesn’t deter her and the entire encounter is set up as if it wasn’t the last time we would hear from her, yet it is. She never shows back up and aside from a tense “friends of yours?” by Mallory, she’s promptly forgotten about. It just feels like this whole scene could be scrapped because it doesn’t really add anything to the book. I wish she would have come back and like really pushed the boundaries or even accosted Mallory to tie up this loose end, but alas, she doesn’t.

This is book one of four and while I don’t have any intention right now to read the other three, I’m not gonna write them off by any means. Ill probably get around to them sometime! I absolutely love the Motley Crüe theme too.

I’m calling it now that this is going to be my favorite Lacey Black series, which is saying a lot because I love the Summer Sisters!

Walker is a happily confirmed bachelor. Co-owner of a successful bar and restaurant with his best friends, he has female companionship when he needs it with no strings attached. But everything changes in an instant when he lays eyes on his newest employee.

Mallory needed a fresh start. She literally picked up her life and packed everything she could into her car and drove herself and her three year old daughter, Lizzie, to a new town to start again. With no support system, she has no idea just how much her new job at Burgers & Brew would change her life. For the first time, she has steady pay, co-workers and bosses who treat both her and her daughter like part of the family, one which is ready to toss his singles card for good!

I absolutely adored everything about this slow burn romance. Walker and Mallory’s chemistry was amazing. I loved that everything they did revolved around Lizzie as Walker fell for her just as fast as he fell for Mal and it felt totally natural. I loved that Mal was so independent and wanted to do things for her and Lizzie on her own, but was also accepting and grateful for he help from Walker and the rest of the Brew Crue.

And the Crue . . . I am so in love with this group of friends already! All so different, yet so supportive of each other. I love how each plays a key role in their business but are also all there for one another. I honestly cannot wait to see who each guy ends up with as the series continues.

I devoured Walker and Mallory’s romance and fell in love with the incredibly adorable and precocious Lizzie. If the rest of this series is anything like Kickstart My Heart, readers are in for a real treat! 5 stars

This is the first book in a new series by this author and it gets of to a great start. This is the Burgers and Brew Crue book #1 and starts of with Walker and Mallory story and the journey that they go. This author has a great writing style that is really easy to follow and the story line flows throughout.

Walker is a a co owner of the bar and restaurant with his friends and he is a loyal and great guy that takes care of the people he loves, he is a very protective man and once you start reading him you will claim him as your own. Mallory is a beautiful, feisty, and very independent single mum and has took a chance a packed up her life and took a job at the bar. She has had things pretty tough but is very determined to make a go of it and give her child a great start in life. The only only thing that she and Walker didn't bank on was each other and when there eyes meet they know there is a spark between them.

This author has written a great story with awesome characters and all the secondary are fit in perfectly. I loved reading about the Crue and the bond that they share is beautiful to see. Walker and Mallory have fantastic chemistry together and the slow burn romance that is building between each other is one that you cant take your eyes of of. This book is a slow burn romance read that is very enjoyable and I highly recommend this authors books as they are great.

I often add books to my KU shelf without reading the blurb, if the title sounds good, the cover looks good and it's from someone who reads the same things I do, then why not check it out, nothing lost. In doing so I often them surprised by what I find and this book is one of those.

As it started, it seemed pretty normal fare, group of friends, they have a bar/restaurant, they run it. I expected Walker to be a man-whore, so when he wasn't that was surprise #1. His reasonings why were sound ones and I looked forward to seeing him break his rules. It was hard not to like Mallory and Lizzie was adorable. Seeing Walker fall for both girls was great, better was Walker realizing that there were times Mallory needed to do things on her own, was surprise #2. I liked that he was there for her as they dated, but also let her take care of herself and Lizzie. He could have easily jumped in with money to make thing better, but he didn't, he helped with what he knew would be accepted, which in return made a better relationship for them.

The drama at the end was a bit crazy! I hated that at first it seemed like Mallory believed what was going on, so happy to see that wasn't true. I also loved seeing all the guys jump in to help both Walker and Mallory, giving support where and when needed.

I look forward to reading more in this series.

I absolutely LOVED this one! Walker and Mallory's story would just grab you right from the start. I feel like this is what I've been waiting for. I envy their story and the love they have for each other throughout reading it.

Walker is one of a kind hero. He is so sweet and hot at the same time! When his eyes met Mallory's eyes for the first time, deep down he knew he is a goner. He truly did fall hard and fast for Mallory and her daughter. I can't even explain how I feel whenever Walker is with Mallory's daughter, Lizzie. His love for Lizzie is apparent. It wasn't influenced by what he felt for Mallory. It's so adorable to see Walker being wrapped around Lizzie's finger from the second they met. And Mallory, I adore her dedication to start a new life for her and Lizzie even if she had to sacrifice for her. There's no one who deserves to have Walker's love and attention more than her.

This story is fun, sweet, emotional, and steamy. You will be enamored by their story of finding love when you least expect it. I seriously can't wait for the next book because I know these guys are going to be amazing!

5 Stars!

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Just when I thought River's Edge would be my forever favorite series by the crazy talented Lacey Black, she goes and writes this beauty, leaving me wanting all the rest of the words that this series is sure to give and to know so much more about everyone I met. I mean it's a brave new series with a brand new crew and every single one of them owns a piece of me already.

Kickstart My Heart is the first standalone in the Burgers and Brüe Crew series and y'all what a freaking fantastic little romance this was. Mallory and Walker were a breath of fresh air, the perfect match, and they gave me all of the very best feels, even right from the very start of their journey. I swooned. I laughed. I got heated. I got all in my emotions. I felt it all, everything and wowza, I can't wait for the next.

I highly recommend this book and I'm super freaking excited to see this series continue y'all!

Kickstart My Heart by Lacey Black is a contemporary single mom romance that I listened to on audio narrated by PJ Morgan and Scott Rose.

This is my first book of Lacey's, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Walker and Mallory. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Don't Go Away Mad to be released on audio so I can get Jasper and Lyndee's story.

PJ and Scott did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like contemporary romances, single mom romances, found family romance, or small-town romances.

I'll be honest. I read this book in August, just late entering it, and I don't remember that much about it. I know that I enjoyed it, that I would like to read more in the series but the details aren't coming to me clearly. I read a lot of books in August and a number since then and I think it got lost in the mix. I think if I were to start reading it again it would all come back to me.

So all I have are impressions. I gave it 4 stars at the time, know I wanted to read more of this series so I'm sticking with the 4 stars

This was so cute! I love single mom romances!

Walker was so sweet, caring, and protective. He was just who Mallory and Lizzie needed and I loved that! Mallory was so strong, kind, and a great mother. She is the type of mom we all want or would want to strive to be!

I loved their story!

I’m so happy I discovered this author and I’m so excited to read the rest of the characters stories!

Carried by a Kid (and I’m Not Even Mad About It)

This book was good—maybe a little too in love with its own storytelling in places, but still, good. It was cute, it was funny, and honestly, the little girl carried the whole thing on her tiny fictional back. She’s the real MVP. I rolled my eyes a couple times, laughed a few more, and now I’m roped into reading the next one. Well played, author. Well played.
