Writing a novel didn’t cross my mind until after a visit to the local library where I couldn’t find a book that interested me. That led me consider a new pastime - write a book. That book may never be published, but I felt my follow-up cross-cultural romance-crime hybrid set in Russia had more potential. So much so that I wrote a sequel that took those characters on a journey to a very dark place.

The opening of the Red Sun Will Come came to me in a dream, and to this day I have no idea why Moscow. I had never been there before, but during the course of developing this novel we did visit Russia, and my wife and I both fell in love with Moscow. It is a world city: exciting, dynamic, visually beautiful and more What better setting for a romance with many difficulties?

Beyond part-time work and part-time writing I particularly enjoy travel.

But writing is my favourite pastime and I have many more tales that I would like to tell. Keep in touch to see where my next journey will take you.

For those readers who like really "small" towns as a backdrop for really "big" crimes, BURRANGONG CREEK could be the novel for you. I love 'Australia' anything, so this novel was a fun read for me. I strongly suggest that the reader doesn't just gloss over, but really reads, the helpful guide in the front of the book to clarify elements and components throughout the story. For example, who knew that Burrangong means a meeting place of kangaroos by the water? And Ecky stands for Ecstasy or E, and Ute is a utility cab and tray vehicle. As an American reader, I found that guide to be most helpful and wish more international authors would place unknown terms and pertinent information in the front of their books rather than in the back. That being said, it is easy to get sucked into the action of this story immediately by the everyday life issues that arise for these unique and multi-faceted characters. A drug war propels the plot in enough interesting directions to hold one's interest to the very last page. Another great pandemic read.

I love reading about life in different countries and cultures. This was an interesting read about issues arising in a small Australian town (really small town). It certainly proves things happen wherever you go and regardless of the place.

Set around a group of young millennials in the larger inland Australian town of Young, coupled with a drug war that gets ever more destructive. The storyline of Burrangong Creek is fascinating but its real appeal lies with the many characters, from vivacious Sophie to quirky Jack, Emma who sets her own course in life, and Constable Luke Scott, who literally has two personalities, when he's at home and when he's on duty. It's these and other characters which make Burrangong Creek a must-read for 2021. Full credit to the author for producing a uniquely outstanding novel. Five stars.

Burrangong Creek traverses life in small town Australia, but which could be small town anywhere. I got drawn into the lives, loves and many problems of the characters of this remarkable story and literally could not put it down. Recommended!

Set in small town Australia with a uniquely Australian tone to characterisation, Burrangong Creek will take you on a journey both geographically and generationally. Fascinating cast of characters, each one unique with back-stories masterfully revealed. A real page-turner, I can't recommend Burragong Creek highly enough.
