The Third Advent takes as one of its theme the prophecies of a 12th century Italian mystic, Giacomo Di Fiore, who saw that the three ages in the history of religion, would be the Age of the Father, said by the author to correspond to the time from Lord Krishna through to the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, the Age of the Son, from the advent of Jesus to the present time, and The Age of the Mother, the age of the feminine re-asserting itself in spirituality, the fulfillment of the prophecy of Lord Jesus Christ that after him would come The Comforter, which the author asserts is the Holy Ghost, or the Divine feminine. The Third Advent is, in part, a history of the last 6000 years in which the author discusses why the great religions, philosophies and economic systems have, in turn, failed to create an environment in which we can all live in peace, prosperity and harmony. He goes on to propose that it is only through individual transformation, that mankind can enact the changes necessary to save itself and the world we live in. In this context, The Third Advent presents a message of great that we can change our core being and thence ourselves through the unique discovery of en masse Self-realization through Sahaja Yoga. The Third Advent explores the possibilities for transformation at individual and corporate levels.
I am reviewing the book The Third Advent by Gregoire de Kalbermatten which is a very good book which I bought from kindle. This book is mainly about Sahaja Yoga which I did have lessons in at one stage and Gregoire was lucky enough to study under Sri Mataji Nirmala Devi who was their leader and a great spiritual person. I have lately tried to read as much as possible about this subject as possible and think I have learnt much more than ever did at the classes. One of their main principles is lessons are free and as Sri Mataji once said you can't pay for enlightenment. She herself was on a quiet beach in India in 1970 and experienced a vision and her kundalini rose enormously. Since then she created Sahaja Yoga to help others and many people they have helped in the past have gone on to become wealthy so have donated money which funds the lessons. She has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and sadly died in 2011. Her husband was secretary general of the UN Maritime Organisation so for many years she lived in the London and Surrey area although she still spent much time in India. In Mumbai there is a specialist clinic that specifically studies Sahaja Yoga and in many other countries they have studied its benefits. I do wish I had continued with the classes in this subject. There is a lot of videos on YouTube on both Sri Mataji & Sahaja Yoga. The title of this book comes from the third 2,000 year long period which started in 1970 which might be called the Age of Aquarius by some and in this period we will apparently see people just being interested in gaining wealth, marriage and religion being generally downgraded and the world will gradually get less civilized. I did enjoy reading this book which also looks at the major religions and their prominent books and members. The writing itself is top notch.
I couldn't finish this book. I suppose I am anti intellectual. Kalbermatten was all over the place. In one chapter he let me know that religion was the bane of the world. Then in another it was capitalism that was killing all of us. I never got to the hope chapters. I "hope" there were some. This book was over the top with esoteric references which made it extremely difficult for a moron like me to relate or understand. My rating is really no stars - since I never finished it. I deleted off my iPhone last week.
