In this stunning sequel to Veilfall . . . master swordslinger and last Soothsayer Banzu Greenlief reunites with his true love and feisty Spellbinder Melora Callisticus, and together they brave against assassins torn from the future, covetous captors lurking from the shadowed past, vengeful gods and conquering Khans vying for power. But all these tribulations pale to the pivotal secret Melora reveals which changes their fragile relationship forever. All Banzu wants is a family of his own, and the peace to enjoy it. To live and let live, while Thurandy recovers from the destruction of Hannibal Khan and Sergal's unliving hordes of hungars now that the Godstone is destroyed and the necromaster Dethkore slumbers in Purgatory. But with her Head Mistress dead and her Academy in ruins, Melora questions her unsure place in the changed world while oblivious of the Enclave target painted upon her back. Together all that matters. Or so Banzu thought. But vindictive foes have other plans in store. And yet . . . and yet, none of this prepares them for the devastation of the Jinn.
Fantastic and epic fantasy combine with sorcery and strange technology crafted to create a thrilling adventure in a cosmic setting.
The second book in the saga of Benzu Greenlief, last of the soothsayers, and his feisty lover, Melora Callistisus. There are also a host of other characters, both human and non-human. This is a science fiction/fantasy tale set in a parallel world to earth where high tech and magic become almost indistinguishable from each other. Space portals that can be conjured up at will, swords and armour made out of a fabulous lanthium armour, sorcery and powerful wizards are combined in a world of haunting beauty and stunning action and drama. Despite all of the magic and arcane technology, a common revolver with a good supply of bullets turns out to be one of the most lethal weapons there. This book will only appeal to lovers of high fantasy as it is crafted in long, highly descriptive and poetically onerous writing that is remarkably similar to a combination of the masters from the early golden age of science fiction and fantasy. The action and drama is gripping with striking and picturesque panoramas of wonder and cosmic beauty. Reading this book is akin to listening to an old bard recounting adventures and epics in a slow and poetically descriptive style, and yet leaves images in the readers mind as vivid as those of great artwork in a graphic novel.
Jinn by Adron Smitley is the second novel in his Soothsayer Series and picks up right where Veilfall left off. Soothsayer Banzu Greenlief has destroyed the Godstone, which brought about destruction and too much death. He is sickened by all that has been slain by his own hand; Banzu just wants to be with the woman he loves, Melora Callisticus. He feels if they can just be reunited he will find the peace and happiness that his soul longs for. He discovers he can't turn back the time and he wonders if too much has happened in the short time they were apart to mend the destruction. He is willing to try, but will evil forces, secrets, and their own uncertainty keep them apart?
The first thing I have noticed about Adron Smitley writing is his impressive command of the English language. Jinn is descriptive and wordy at times, but I do love an author that challenges with words that not only places you in the story, but also tests your grasp of the meaning. I seemed to have enjoyed Jinn more than the first novel.
Though the story is a relatively long one, this author captivates a premise that is sure to capture readers and make them feel as if they are one with the story. Following the first in the series, Veilfall, Jinn takes readers on an adventure filled with in-depth characters and transitional scenery. Because of the significantly large number of characters involved, I found it useful to start with a chart of character names and descriptions so I could keep them all straight and it was certainly helpful until I got far enough into the story to keep track without my notes. If you're a reader who enjoy sci-fi/fantasy novels, this is one you definitely don't want to miss out on. I always find it more enjoyable when books in a series pick up right where another one left off, and this one did just that. Don't let the length deter you, the story within is so great that it's definitely worth the read!
Experience the mixture of sorcery and adventurous love of the soothsayer Banzu Greenlief with Adron’s wordplay at its best. Jinn, the second book in the Soothsayer Saga by Adron Smitley, recounts the story of Banzu Greenlief, the last Soothsayer, and his struggle to save the world from the demonic cults with his lover Melora. This book is the sequel of Veilfall, the first book of the soothsayer saga series. The book starts the story from where the first book ends. This book will be a feast for those who love high fantasy. The wordplay by Adron is captivating, flaunting his mastery over Language and his vivid description (especially the portrayal of settings…like the depiction of Courtyard of Castle Bloom) would put the readers under a spell. Jinn is more appealing than Velifall as it unfolds the adventures met by the hero in his explorations and journey to save the future people and to unite with his love simultaneously.
“Jinn” by Adron Smitley is the second installment to the Soothsayer series. We continue with Banzu, the last Soothsayer, as he is eager to reunite with Melora, the one that he loves, and put the past behind him. Not wanting to take on the mantle of hero but having done so anyway, he eventually finds his way to her. The plot thickens when they are faced with another challenge that threatens not just them physically, but their relationship as well. I appreciate the fact that, as a couple, they are not just your run-of-the-mill couple. They have flaws, they might keep things from each other (even if it is to protect the other). A bit lengthy, but overall a good, epic tale. I related to Banzu on a personal level because sometimes I have to take on something that, while being perfectly capable of doing, is not something I was planning on doing. I highly recommend this book!
Following the first novel Veilfall, author Adron Smitley continues the saga in Jinn. We meet up with master swordslinger and now last soothsayer Banzu Greenlief as he reunites with his love Melora to fight off assassins from the future (Yes, time travel is in the book in some form). This book follows both Banzu and Melora and explores their expectations and concerns about the future. Unsure futures can cause rifts in any relationships and the Enclave is poised to exploit these and defeat both Banzu and Melora once and for all. The author did a better job in the editing and punctuation department than the first book. I am glad to see the improvements. There were still longer sentences than needed and the formatting was still a bit awkward. That may be simply a matter of preference since it is carrying over into another book. Still, the story is sound and the plot makes sense.
Jinn is the second book in the Soothsayer Series, by author Adron Smitley, who managed wonderfully the Sword and Sorcery genre, here too. As in the first one, he kept the world building impressive and really well described. Although it is a long length book, as many epic novels, it is worth the read because of the vivid imagery and details that lead the reader on a fantastic visual journey.
This novel is perfectly plotted, fascinating, well-paced, and full of surprises. I think that the author´s imaginative storytelling is really enjoyable, especially for epic fantasy genre lovers. But, beyond that, it is so masterfully written that all kindS of fiction readers will surely enjoy it!
Jinn is the sequel to the book Veilfall, both written by Adron Smitley.
The author goes on with the fantasy story where superheroes, once again, fight against injustice and power seekers who would do anything to get the bigger part of the cake.
The superheroes have a life of their own, too, and they struggle to forget about their special abilities and live a “normal” life.
Although the writing style is good, the plot did not fascinate me. Perhaps, I was waiting for something different after reading the first part. This is why I give this book three starts.
Anyway, Jinn makes a good week reading, and I believe fiction lovers can appreciate it.
As I recall in Veilfall, what enchanted me the most in each page was the richness in Adron Smitley language, making the story very unique. It happens the same with “Jinn”, which is book number two in the series.
The story continues with this very relentless wizard called Banzu Greenlief reuniting with Melora, his true love, and facing challenges from the future as well as the past. As a reader, I was expecting some drama and action between them, but the author did a very good job in his narration keeping the excitement very high.
To conclude, I think the author outdid himself from his previous book saga making this read a very exciting one.
An engrossing and engaging second part! Here comes the second part of a great fantasy thriller. “Jinn” is the sequel of “Veilfall” written by Adron Smitley. I liked this one very much! It´s a great second part. In this tale, there are several turns and twists that make Banzu Greenlief´s life a bit complicated but he strives to change the situation. It is a well-written and engrossing novel worth enjoying at a comfortable sofa. The setting contains vivid descriptions. Also, the characters´ description adds more to the plot. While I was reading, I felt immersed in the story, in every place and even inside Banzu´s mind. It is a recommendable novel
This is book two of the Soothsayer Series, written by fantasy author, Adron J. Smitley. In this book he marvellously continues to develop the wonderful world he had created in the first amazing book, titled Veilfall. As a big sword and sorcery fan, I knew I was going to love this amazing story. This book serves up a vividly described fantasy novel filled with memorable characters and action-packed scenes. Highly creative and nuanced, this is kind of A long novel, but one that is engaging till the very last page. I highly recommend reading this book to all fans of fantasy fiction and to anyone who enjoys a well-written book!
I must confess that I was captivated by the cover and that was one of the reasons why I bought this book. Of course, after reading Veilfall I also wanted to keep on reading this second part. I was surprised to know that it was so long. I think this was the longest book I’ve read and now I understand why the description tells how many words it has. I liked it very much. Jinn has a bit of everything and this makes the read quite complete and enjoyable. The author has a great writing style and his narrative is attractive and invites you to keep on reading almost non stop. I would recommend this book and also the previous one, Veilfall.
After reading Veilfall, I was eagerly expecting to read the second part of the Soothlayer Series. Jinn has definitely made the waiting worth it as it has exceeded my expectations. In this sequel, the plot revolves around sword master Banzu who wants to be with his true love Melora but a significant challenge will put at risk their own future and Jinn’s. Written by the talented Adron Smitley, ‘Jinn’ has some blow- minding descriptions which made me believe I was part of this world of witches and sorcerers. I couldn’t put the book down from the very beginning. It has a fast paced and intriguing plot that has appealed to my imagination and curiosity. Amazing sci fi story!
Jinn, by Adron Smitley, is a tale that belongs to the category of fantasy. The author himself is a lover of all fantasy and I believe he has been able to portray that love in this book. At the beginning, I felt intimidated by the book length, but the author has done a great job putting the sequences of events in such a way that the storyline does not get dull. The story is full of florous and vivid vocabulary items which make the scenes feel almost real. Fantasy and romance are perfectly well interwoven. Soothsayer Bazun, the main character, has a desire: living a peaceful life with his family. Whether he achieves that or not, I will not spoil. I have absolutely enjoyed this book; it was a perfect read to start and finish during my school vacations.
Finally, I got to read the second book in the series “Soothsayer” written by Adron J. Smitley and I must say that “Jinn” is as good as the first one or even better. In this new book, the author amazes me again with his ability to imagine and create fantastic worlds. The characters are believable and original, and in this new instalment, the author deepens in the development of their personality. I really enjoyed immersing myself in the continuation of Banzu and Melora’s story. Now, they have to face new and dangerous enemies while they try to make their relationship stronger and built a life and a family together. This is a book which is worth reading and I highly recommend it.
Jinn is a story of Banzu and his desire to live a peaceful life with his family. While he and Melora long for the peaceful experience, they find themselves thrust again into battle against assassins from the future set on destroying them and their way of life. This is the second in the series and it lives up to the expectations of a sequel. The characters are well developed and the storyline is loaded with action and suspense. The scenes are descriptive and make you feel like you are right there beside them in battle. If you like fantasy thrillers you will enjoy this one. Check it out folks it will not disappoint.
I must admit that I selected this book because I fell in love with the cover page. After reading it I have to say that the content is very original and imaginative as well. It is full of charming characters, action, romance and more. This sequel tells the adventures of Soothsayer Banzu and his pursuits of a peaceful life and family. I did not quite like the format of the chapters and the way the dialogues were established; in my opinion, they were not easy to follow or comprehend. It is definitely a book that I would read on vacation while I am enjoying and relaxing. Also, I have no doubt that I would recommend it to fans of sorcery, swords and fantasy stories.
