They need all their wits to survive. But a language barrier could leave them dead in the water.
Anne-Marie Legrand is excited to begin her career as an au pair in Sweden. But when the young Swiss woman’s flight from Geneva is struck by lightning, both the plane and her dreams come crashing down to Earth. Waking up bloodied and confused, she’s terrified when she discovers the only other survivor is a middle-aged man muttering in a foreign tongue.
Scottish banker Killian Gordon may be a world traveler, but he knows next to nothing about wilderness survival. Stuck with a woman he can’t understand, he struggles to take charge of the mismatched pair as they explore their surroundings. But the untamed land and endless sea surrounding them tells him no one will be coming to their rescue.
Focusing her efforts on building a sturdy shelter, Anne-Marie battles to keep morale alive with her disgruntled comrade. But with days on the island turning into weeks, Killian fears the odds of living through this nightmare are rapidly declining as the looming Scandinavian winter ensures a lonely and frozen death.
Will they face an even crueler fate than their fellow passengers?
Alone Together is a standalone survival novel. If you enjoy unlikely duos, dramatic landscapes, and adrenaline-fueled endurance, then you’ll love Cristelle Comby’s desperate tale of stamina and strength.
Cristelle Comby was born and raised in the French-speaking area of Switzerland, in Greater Geneva, where she still resides.
She attributes to her origins her ever-peaceful nature and her undying love for chocolate. She has a passion for art, which also includes an interest in drawing and acting.
She is the author of the Neve & Egan Cases series, which features an unlikely duo of private detectives in London: Ashford Egan, a blind History professor, and Alexandra Neve, one of his students.
Currently, she is hard at work on her Urban Fantasy series Vale Investigation which chronicles the exploits of Death’s only envoy on Earth, PI Bellamy Vale, in the fictitious town of Cold City, USA.
A gripping and fast-paced read from the first line to the last. The writing was vivid and emotional. How would you fare stranded on an island with approaching winter?

As mentioned in the description, this is a book about survival. The thing about this novel that makes it unique is that the two survivors speak different languages. It is written from the POV of each of them (clearly marked with their names, so it is not confusing), so the reader is very aware of what each of them is thinking and experiencing. They, however, do not know what the other is thinking. It is an interesting way to show how two people can see the exact same thing differently. Although there were things I found difficult to visualize or imagine - either because of the description or because I found them somewhat less than believable - I do recommend the book. It is not just about survival but about making a connection. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout, and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Alone Together is the survival story of Killian Gardon, a Scottish banker, and Anne-Marie Legrand, daughter of a vineyard owner. The only thing these two characters have in common is their being passengers on a plane struck by lightning which causes it to crash. They have to overcome a language barrier in their struggle to build a shelter and survive until they are hopefully rescued. This is a well written book which I highly recommend.

When I first started reading, I didn't immediately like the book. The characters weren't (to me) likeable, and I couldn't identify with either. In normal cases, I don't finish books that hit me like this. I finished Alone Together, and I'm glad I did. I ended up enjoying their relationship.
Perhaps I learned something... :)

They were on the same plane and looking forward when disaster hits. They are the only ones left but they do not speak the same language. How are they going to cope? Can they get to understand each other? Can they survive until help comes? See just how they get on

This is not a typical survival "thriller" even though there is a terrifying commercial airline crash into a deserted island. The only two survivors do not end up in a romantic relationship and the island is above the Arctic Circle. This book is well worth the read with an ending that I could never have imagined which is why I only read them, not write them.
An excellent survival story with a great storyline and unlikely realistic surviving characters. Told from the individual's point of view. A fast paced page turner with a great location. Very emotional read that I would highly recommend.
Allow most of a day for this family-friendly survival tale about middle-aged Scottish Banker Killian Gardon and twenty-something vineyard daughter Anne-Marie Legrand, two passengers on Flight SWA 1528.

Here is something a bit different. The only two survivors of a plane crash who have no other option but to stick together but instantly they clash. I won't give any spoilers read it for yourself and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as i did.
It has been a long time since I found a book that held my interest long enough to actually finish it. I expect I am too hard to please and easily bored. If your like me then this is definitely the book for you.
