After five years away, Cole has finally come home. I felt so bad for him that he felt like his family and April were telling him to leave. I was glad to see he wanted to stay now and prove to everyone that he can be trusted and will stay. It was funny that Jackie had chased him since elementary school and now she is the one he asks to help him. I think they always had an attraction between the two, but never acted on it. Pretending to be together helps both their reputations. I was glad their time being together was showing them there could be more than friendship if either was bold enough to admit it. I have always loved Cole’s family and how they are there for each other. This is especially true when Jackie has to figure out what to do about her father’s health. I encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

This was Cole and Jackie's story. A very satisfying addition to the series. Cole and Jackie have chemistry that lights up the pages. They go from fake to break-up to engaged in record time yet it doesn't feel rushed or unrealistic. The conflict they face is something out of their control which makes it especially poignant. I was happy that Cole finally got things worked out with his family concerning him leaving 5 years ago and I finally got answers to all my questions. I've really loved this series. I mean, it's written by the talented Jean Oram and it's cowboys! How could it be anything other than awesome!

ARC for honest review with no compensation

The Cowboy’s Surprise Return is book 5 in the Cowboys of Sweetheart Creek, Texas by Jean Oram.

Cole Wylder has returned after five long years and needs to build bridges with his family and while doing that he has sworn off women. What he doesn’t expect is Jackie Moorhouse to tickle his fancy. Jackie has had a long time crush on Cole that she believes after all these years it’s now in the past but she wants to be sure before she moves on…

Sparks fly, fake dating, mending fences and so much more.

Can the runaway cowboy come home?

Cole has been judged and misjudged when he left town for 5 years. Now he’s back and Jackie is wondering if she can finally let her crush go that she’s had forever. Her bestie is April who had been his on/off girlfriend for years before he left but she’s now found her own HEA with his brother Brant. He’s trying to mend broken relationships and she’s ready for a long term commitment but maybe a fake relationship could work-but it suddenly seems very non-fake. This is definitely a closed door romance but the most in the open were sizzling kisses. Then there’s her dad who needs memory care as his condition deteriorates and she might have to move to be by him. Can Cole show that he’s been misjudged and he’s matured and not running away again? Can Jackie have it all-care for her dad And Cole and an HEA?

Great story.
Their fake relationship gets to feeling real right away and most of their friends and family are happy about it... most...

When it's time to break up it's their meddling family and friends save the day, but oh, it's an agonizing journey to their HEA.

Poor Jackie. After cole's return and the playing at being together. Cole pulls it off in the end, I'm so glad he does.
This is a must read.
I loved this book. Jean Oram is a brilliant author and I have read nearly all of her books.
Well done Jean. Keep them coming.

A great read

I loved Cole and Jackie's story! The long lost son finally returns and turns himself inside out to prove he's changed his wild ways. And what better way than with the town's favorite flirt? Characters you can't help but love and writing that makes you want more!

Jackie has been a pivotal player as the match-maker to the Wylder clan in the previous books in this series. Now, at last, she's got her own story in this sweet and poignant fake mates tale, and it's quite a story. She's always wanted to catch one of the Wylder men, and now she's got her chance if she can turn this image-reconstruction plot into something real.
I loved this story. It was sweet, funny and sometimes heart-breaking, and as with the earlier Sweetheart Creek stories, reading this one gave me a sense of coming home to meet again with a set of characters who seem to jump off the page. If you haven't read any of this series yet, you're missing a treat. Each of the stories deals with a separate couple and, although the previous characters return each time, each book stands reasonably well on its own, so feel free to start here if you like. I'm guessing you'll find your way back to the others, but that's the beauty of a well written series - when you fall in love with one book, there are always more to read.
Even though this is the last of the Wylder boys, there are plenty more of likely partners in Sweetheart Creek and I'm hoping this series will have lots more opportunities to get together with the folks in this Texas small town and to have another encounter with Bill the Armadillo.

This author has done it again!
Where do I begin to tell you of this totally swoon worthy cowboy.
Welcome back to Sweetheart Creek, Texas to the family of the Wylders.
Town flirt Jackie Moorhouse has only ever had eyes for one Wylder, (even though she flirted with every one of them), her heart has always belonged to Cole Wylder.
Five long years ago Cole left his home and all his loved ones (we learn why in this book).
Now he has returned, Jackie had just about given up on him ever coming home. Does she finally get to have her happily ever after?
They both need to repair the past and how people think of them, can they do it together? A fake relationship sounds like a great way to do just that, as long as they can keep it just fake.
This book has so many feels in it I just can't pick one, what an amazing end to a wonderful series.
No one writes small town romance like Jean Oram does, every book of hers makes me fall in love more. I just want to move to any of the towns she writes about.

Another great book in this series. This one sees Cole returning home and rebuilding his life with his family in Sweetheart Creek. We finally find out why he left and stayed away for so long. Jackie has been a major factor in all of the Wylder brothers romances so it is nice to see her finally getting some love (even if it starts out as a fake relationship). The Wylder family is great and they have so much love to share and I hope we get to see more of the folks of Sweetheart Creek.
