I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
Love Under Construction is a Valentine’s Day novella. Maddox is a grumpy construction boss and Lily is known by her bank colleagues as the Ice Queen. When they finally acknowledge each other rather than grunt and insult each other they hit it off. I honestly found Maddox as little annoying. I prefer my book hero to be more badass rather than what Maddox is, but that’s just my preference. This novella is extremely steamy, Lily and Maddox have intense chemistry which plays out in the most seductive ways.
I gave 4 stars as the book was hot but I wished it wasn’t quite so cheesy. Everything they did was a bit predictable. I guess like all novellas a story has to be told in a very short time so I don’t think that helps.

This was my first Kat Long read and it was just what I was expecting after reading all her hilariously dirty social media posts.
The hardass alpha construction worker with some funny, quirky soft hobbies that he keeps a secret and the misunderstood mean bank manager who is really a kind sweet woman.
These two, attracted from afar. Neighbors in a small town who don't want to shed their hard exteriors to let anyone else in. But when Lily goes on a "gross" blind date she throws a drink on the guy and ends up in tears locked out of her apartment. Maddox comes to the rescue and their hot, dirty romance begins.
These two steam up the pages but between the steam they are dorky and sweet and romantic. It's a weird mix of alpha and dork that just works!
I will be reading more Kat Long for sure!

Cute novella about looking beneath the surface to find the real person. Maddox has to be the strong boss man around his construction business. But in the privacy of his own home, he is a giant marshmallow. When he decides to find out what Lily is hiding beneath her Ice Queen persona, that's when the fun begins. His pursuit is one madcap misadventure after another. A fun and fast read.

A quick super sweet, hella steamy read! Loved the dynamic between Mads and Lily, the support and acceptance they had for one another was enough to melt me! Maddox is such a hidden sweetheart! Highly recommend!

I love this book! It was hilarious and heart-warming. It was a quick, amazing read that put me through the emotions of falling in love with each character, hoping for them to be together and then watching them help each other through the tough spots of their lives.
They're both strong characters and watching Lily's sadness at the beginning of the book when she clearly has so much hidden under her facade was heartbreaking. She deserves better than how she was being treated in the beginning and I'm SO GLAD that she eventually figured her way around the problem. Maddox didn't actually come in there and rescue her from the whole situation (WHICH I HATE), he treated her how he knew she should be treated and helped her realise that she deserved better. She deserved more. I love that he got her there without forcing it on her.
Also, Maddox is bae. Like, super bae. He's this hard-shelled guy who has all the warm fuzzies on the inside and is terrified of letting it out because he's been burned in the past. I LOVE HIM.

Love under construction is funny and not your typical contemporary romance. I laughed hard especially at the beginning. Kat draws you into the story right from the start. Its quick paced and steamy. I won’t give away Maddox’s secret but oh my not at all what I was expecting.
These two are very underestimated by the town and have had to learn to put on facades. It was nice to see how the grew as the story continued. The only downfall of this novella was it wasn’t a full-length novel because I wanted to keep reading. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author.

Maddox.....the quintessential book boyfriend. He would capture anyone’s heart! As a tough guy, construction owner, alpha male he is really just a big soft teddy bear. He of course won’t let anyone know this though.
Lily has been labeled the Ice Queen by her coworkers due to a big misunderstanding. Her family can’t get past her “attitude” either, which leaves Lily feeling lonely most of the time. Despite the mutual attraction between Lily and her neighbor, Maddox, they start off with a hate relationship more than a love relationship.
Maddox had me hooked from the beginning and while slowly breaking down Lily’s walls you start love them as a couple. Such a cute, short story that has all the heart eyes!!

In order to fall in love with a book, I have to fall in love with the characters. Let’s just say I’d happily pick out China patterns with Maddox! He charmed me from the first page, had me laughing by the second and fanning myself not long after that.
Kat Long has deftly crafted complex, endearingly imperfect characters you can’t help but root for. The story is fast-paced and fun; the temperature hot! So, make yourself comfortable on the couch with a snuggly blanket and some warm chocolate chip cookies, because once you start the first chapter, you’re going to be there until the last!

I loved this super steamy and kinda cheesy (in the best way) Valentine’s Day novella!
Maddox is the guy every girl wants...hard exterior but warm and gooey on the inside. Lily is totally misunderstood and built a wall to protect herself. Once she and Maddox let down there walls things changed in a big way. I flew through the pages while giggling, sighing and fanning my face. Definitely a must read!
