For the Bratva, retribution is the law. An eye for an eye. A tooth for a tooth. A life for a life.
But the man who killed my beloved deserves a fate worse than death. He’ll live knowing his only daughter was captured by a monster... That he’s utterly powerless to stop me.
Olena Baranov will be my prisoner. My retribution. My undoing. Vengeance will be mine.
Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read – character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
Professionally written and extremely fast-paced, “The Bratva’s Captive” positions two rival Bratva factions against one another, with one member seeking revenge for the murder of his woman. The story opens with the antihero or hero, Maksym being held prisoner and mercilessly tortured by a rival Bratva, “The Thieves”. Although he is rescued by his “Brother’s”, Maksym is devastated by the loss of the woman he loved and seeks revenge by capturing the rival leader’s daughter, Olena. Maksym is overcome by his need for revenge and suffers horrendous nightmares from the trauma endured at the hands of “The Thieves”. Only one positive memory survived his time in captivity, that of an “angel” who smelled like roses, with a gentle and caring touch.
Raised solely by her mother in America, the young and truly innocent Olena is spirited off to Russia by her father upon her mother’s death. Feeling like a prisoner in her father’s household, Olena knows little of her father’s business, apart from him being a Bratva leader and periodically holding men to torture in the basement. On one occasion, the screams of pain emanating from the basement, urge Olena to act and in the dark of night she brings the prisoner water, comforting him with her touch. Olena later overhears a conversation, regarding the prisoners death and disposal of the body in a river.
Still devastated by his woman’s death at the hands of “The Thieves”, Maksym is determined to callously use his beautiful captive and Olena is just as determined to remain defiant. Initially, the couple’s encounters are filled with trepidation but as their time together unfolds their chemistry explodes into blazing passion. As a dark erotic romance, Maksym’s treatment of Olena is often somewhat harsh, severe and callous but he also struggles with his feeling toward her, balancing his status as both anti-hero as well as hero. Although initially foreboding, as the plot progresses Maksym transformation is perfectly paced and convincing. Olena does not truly fear Maksym but is wary of him nonetheless and often speaks impulsively, reinforcing Maksym callous treatment. Olena is a sympathetic character due to her innocence, strength and intelligence. From their first meeting, Olena thoughts and actions are realistic, finding him extremely attractive as well as somewhat charming but fully aware of his sinister edge.
Brimming with mystery as well as suspense, “The Bratva’s Captive” is rife with twists and turns, captivating the reader from the first page to the very last. The characterizations are in-depth with ample background information, providing rational explanations for their thoughts, emotions and actions. The story is conveyed from dual POV and reads as a standalone novel. Overall, “The Bratva’s Captive” is a fantastic addition to the Wicked Doms series, highly engaging and entertaining as well as scorching hot!

*** I voluntarily received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review***
The third book in this series was such a good book. It brought all the emotions to the surface. I cried, I laughed, I was ticked off, it hit all the notes for me. Maksym is going to make the man who killed his Taya pay by kidnapping his daughter, Oleana. What he gets is a woman who is damaged, just like he is!!! The story between these two is just freaking awesome and I could NOT put this book down. Jane Henry is my Queen of dark mafia books right now and I'm loving them all. As their relationship slowly builds, Maskym finds out that Olena is still in danger. And when she goes back to her father, she instantly regrets running from Maskym. Can he save her? Or will her father have the last word? This story is my favorite out of the three so far and I'm eager to see who's story is next!!!! If you like dark mafia books, grab this one!!!
Though The BRATVA’S Captive was a bit predictable, the story was entertaining nonetheless.
Maksym was an easy to love anti-hero. Consumed with loss and vengeance, he was willing to go against his character and pull an innocent into the war he was preparing to fight.
Olena was a heroine I couldn’t help but rally for. She was strong and feisty no matter the situation. Determined to escape her father and survive her current ordeal, she struggled with coming to terms with the two sides of Maksym he continued to show. Which was the real Maksym? Is what she feeling real?
The two shared a great chemistry from the start and the heat level increased through the whole of the story. Though this is a “captive” romance, Olena was never truly a victim. She was defiant and head strong from the moment she came to.
So, after The Bratva's Baby, which featured a human trafficker who kills women, and The Bratva's Bride, whose "hero" hurled abled slurs at a young woman he thought was mentally disabled, I had my fill of Jane Henry (I know she's popular and I know I'm in the minority). I decided to try this one and was relieved that A) there was no human trafficking (at least by the hero), and B) no aspersions directed against any vulnerable populations. In addition, unlike the cold, clinical, financial reasons the "heroes" in the previous books had for kidnapping the heroines -- and the cold, clinical ways in which they went about it -- at least Maksym's desire for revenge and rage were understandable and though they don't excuse his targeting an innocent woman, they were more palatable to me. While I do wish he didn't play so many psychological mind games with Olena (he waxes hot and cold towards her, and she's understandably confused) and hadn't used a cane, he's not as harsh as the other two H's; he does care about her physical well-being; and he does .
For me, though, there were a lot of negatives to this book that probably won't bother others since they mostly have to do with plot (I assume most readers primarily respond to the character development and hotness of the scenes: the character development here is fine since both H and h do grow and change; the sex scenes I found rather dull since Ms. Henry barely, for example, describes the insertion of a butt plug -- without, btw, saying what size it is even though we know Olena has never experienced anal play before -- but BDSM is less her strong suit than dd). Now, plot is probably the least of the reasons we read these books and usually I can make allowances for any weaknesses in it, but there were so many continuity errors (Olena's jeans change to leggings; she's either tall or short -- I'm still not sure which) and plot holes you could drive the proverbial truck through that they were distracting and I have to wonder if she wrote this in a hurry.
Some of the problematic plot elements include:
1) Though Olena .
2) At one point, Olena says that .
3) Why, since her father .
4) Since Nicolai ?
5) What exactly is .
I could go on, but you get my point. 2 1/2 stars; I think many will enjoy this as long as they don't mind non-consent, drugging and kidnapping an innocent woman, or glaring plot holes.
Note: While ymmv, I adhere to the ratings system as laid out by Goodreads: 2 stars = it was okay; 3 stars = liked it; 4 stars = really liked it; 5 stars = it was amazing. I gave this book 2 1/2 stars because I did keep reading. I do not think that every book I read is "amazing;" further, I think that it cheapens the rating system to always assign 4 or 5 stars. If a book really earns the 4 or 5 stars (and I realize that this is, to some degree, subjective), I'll give them -- but it certainly shouldn't apply to every book. Again, ymmv, and everyone should enjoy/rate these books as they wish. (less)

ARC Received from Ardent Prose I also got this book with KU.
Some of this book is pretty gory and hard to read, especially the beginning, so it might be a trigger for some. It is so interesting, though, I couldn't put it down! What a story!
My hands were sweating as I read this book. The suspense is intense. There were pages I struggled to get through. But those pages were needed to help understand Maksym's character. Maksym is a tortured soul. His character has so much depth that I found myself routing for him. Olena is one tough girl. She takes everything Maksym has to give and still wants more. Olena is complex, it was hard to figure out where her loyalties were at times. There are so.many surprises in this story, every page turn brought more excitement. Those hot, sexy scenes lit my Kindle on fire. (maybe that is why my hands were sweating!). This is so much more than dark, so much more than romantic suspense; this story is a love story of two people who should have never been together, yet they fit perfectly as one. Jane Henry writes a Romeo and Juliette story in the dark world of the Russian Mafia and delivers us one of her best works!! I love the Bratva Series and cannot wait for the next one!
DNF. I was so enamored with Maksym in the first book of the series - his capture, move to America and then the loss of Taya- that I couldn’t accept he would so easily harm an innocent like Olena. Then the book started just like Larissa and Demsyn’s story with how he kept her captive. That story was so well told for them, it didn’t feel right reading it again for Maksym who deserved more. This is just how it made me feel and is no way a reflection on the quality of the writing.
I borrowed the first three in this series at the same time, but after reading the first one, and finding it so repulsively abusive and disgusting that I could not finish it, I only read the first few chapters of each of the subsequent books to verify they were equally disturbing and returned them without completing them. If you have a problem with non-consensual sexual encounters, sexual humiliation, degradation of women, sexual assault, physical abuse, kidnapping and Stockholm Syndrome being billed as "love" then I would stay away from this author.
This was a joke huge misrepresentation supposedly this was a dark romance "Wicked Doms" yeah right Maksyim or however u spell it was like a big teddy bear wanna be Dom. I gave up after he and Olena were together for the first time, the scene was so vanilla it was boring I knew I wouldn't be finishing this story so sorry but it isn't worth my time.
Olena and Macksym were in an abusive relationship. He would abuse he and blame her for his actions. He would reward her if she did bass he said. Then he would punish her for rebelling. Classical controlling behavior. Macksym promises to love her. In reality,--fat chance! The parts of the Bratva and Thieves' were interesting.
4.5/5⭐ [I received a digital arc for an honest review]
The Bratva's Captive is the second book, but can be read as a standalone, in Jane Henry's Wicked Doms series. This is my favorite of the series so far, I couldn't get enough of Maksym and Olena.
"You accept that death is inevitable, it's when you accept that, that you no longer fear the final blow."
After being rescued by his brothers from being tortured by their enemies Maksym comes back a different man. When the woman he loves pushes him away that doesn't stop how much he cares and when she is murdered he vows to avenge her death. The man responsible is Olena's father and because of his ways she becomes Maksym's captive and means of fulfilling his revenge. He didn't expect to every love another and even though he fights his feelings he finds himself going from Olena's captor to her protector when someone attempts to take her life.
"Though he's stronger and powerful, he's as bound and broken as me. "
The Bratva's Captive is dark, dangerous, and filled with raw sexual passion. Maksym's tortured past and murder of his beloved has turned him into the violent man he is today. Yet underneath it he is cable of tenderness, even when he punishes Olena's he could be doing so much worse. Olena, even though she feels alone in the world, is strong and feisty. Maksym dominates her and her punishments introduce her to pleasure she had never experienced before. I looked forward to her punishments as much as he did, they were hot as hell.
"God, what we've shared... so much intimacy. So much pain."
The Bratva's Captive is a captivating, emotional dark enemies to lovers romance with twist and turns that keeps you hooked from start to finish. I am looking forward to future releases in the Wicked Doms series.
"Our pasts have formed who we are, but we aren't slaves to them. Our pasts will not determine our future. We will."
The author was able to bring sweet to this Dark Romance. Olena is naive who unfortunately is trapped in her father's world. Maksym is the executioner for a rival Bratva. He decides an eye for an eye and kidnaps Olena. Th He pair have chemistry and quickly become more than Master/ captive. The drama is minimal but enough to keep the story interesting and the romance angle was hot and dirty.
Great story, excellent writing, made me happy to read more of the Bratva with the wounded and revenge driven Maksym, taking his tormenter's daughter Olena captive. Yuri, the leader of the Thieves has murdered Maksym's lover Taya and Maksym won't rest until Yuri is dead. Olena is Maksym's captive but not a victim of his, she's been treated badly before she ever met Maksym. There is other danger to be wary of, someone has betrayed the Bratva and will have to pay the price. Olena and Maksym have what appears to be a love, hate relationship. She is the captive only because she is Yuri's daughter. I loved the back and forth between Olena and Maksym they really tried to be captive/captor, but there was more happening between them and danger all around. Jane Henry did and excellent job of writing this story and I won't even try to tell a shorter version of it, just know it will keep you turning the pages to see how each scenario works out, who is loyal and trustworthy and who isn't. There are many unexpected turns and twists and some hearts get involved in spite of the situation that isn't really the setting for such things. I loved this book and towards the end, will blow you away.
The Bratva's Captive: A Dark Mafia Romance (Wicked Doms)
Oh Maksym!! My heart broke for him and everything he went through. To seek his revenge, Maksym decides to take Olena to draw out the man behind his pain. But Olena only seems to make him come alive and his dead heart beat once again. Maksym is dealing with all sorts of emotions while fighting off men who are trying to kill them and they are closer than Maksym realizes. This story is one filled with pain, guilt, anger, love and of course, dominance. Another great addition to the Wicked Doms series!

God, I am in love with this series. This time we get a captive that doesn't seem to be afraid of her kidnapper and a kidnapper that doesn't seem to want to be a kidnapper.
Maksym is out for revenge, and he knows that the only way to get to the main man of The Thieves is through his daughter Olena. However, Olena isn't going to make anything easy on Maksym even if it gets her into even more trouble then she has ever been.
The emotional rollercoaster these two go through before they even meet is stripping, then the twists and turns, the unknown of who is with them and against them keep you guessing until the very end. I think this one is my favorite so far.
The Bratva's Captive is a must-read story of no hope in anything, including staying alive, and then finding that even in your darkest times, there can be an angel on the other side.
When we meet Maksym he's been captured and is being tortured for answers he refuses to give. By the time the Bratva locate and release him, he's severely broken in several places and, like during his capture, refuses to speak. It's decided he will go to America and stay with the former brigadier of the brotherhood and his family in order to fully heal. While recuperating, his entire world changes again. Jane Henry has taken this third book of the "Wicked Doms" series to a whole new emotional level with twists and turns, emotional upheaval, and a VERY strong Dom. It just seems like each one has become better than the last.
I was blown away by Makysmm and Olena’s story. I was totally captivated by the storyline and characters. It drew me in and held me completely transfixed in the story. It took me on an emotional journey that completely gutted me. Twist and turns that had me spellbound throughout the entire book. I couldn’t get enough. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a stunning read
A little disappointed there were parts where the story just drags and a lot of repeats. Taya was supposed to be his big love and in the end she got killed because of him…all that meant was he could leave his d&@ck in his pants for a total of 8 weeks…wow. She is just borderline stupid most of the time and there is zero chemistry. Larissa from the previous book shows up again and is just as stupid and annoying trying to jeopardize everything even though she should know the guys
The narrators did amazing job with audio book! Just wow! Maksym is out for revenge and taking the daughter of the person he wants to kill is perfect until. Olena but she is broken herself. Will two enemies actually come to life over all the drama! Amazing story and couldn’t stop listening to it! 5/5 stars
This is Maksym and Oleana’s story. These are two lost souls who’ve had their share of heartache and pain. Maksym kidnaps Oleana the daughter of the man who killed his Taya. Sparks fly between them....Maksym is determined to make her obey and Oleana is determined to keep her independence. Really enjoyed this story.
I read all the books in this series, yeah I can’t believe it either lol but Jane Henry is just so good at making this Russian world seem real. It was so fast paced which I appreciated. Masksym was hard to cheer on but that’s what he is suppose to be, a tortured soul. I love Olena I just wanted her to be happy.

Bratva's Capitve is the 3rd and final book in Henry's Wicked Doms series. (#1 is Bratva's Baby; #2 is Bratva's Bride). All three can be purchased together in Wicked Doms - the Complete Series. Not necessary to read them in order, but it helps.
Loved this one. This story picks up a few months after the ending of Book #2. If you read that one, you'll know Maksym had been captured by enemies and was tortured. This opens 6 months after Maksym's rescue. Having returned a different, troubled man, his wife had asked him to leave. She is attacked and murdered while he is away, leaving him even more scarred and broken. Maksym was always the one who refused to harm innocents or women, but his need for revenge and vengeance is stronger than his need to protect now
Olena is the innocent daughter of the man responsible for every bad thing that's befallen Maksym. After her mother's death, she was forced to move back to Russia to live with her father. She has no love for him. She has witness atrocities and violence and knows her father has no love for her; that she is only a commodity to be tolerated until he has use for her. She would run, but knows he would find her. . When she is kidnapped by Maksym, who intends to use her to get to her father, she soon begins to see him as a way out, someone who could protect her. But she's not going to let him walk all over her, even if she has to convince him she can be trusted. Maksym is attracted to her strength, that she can take everything he dishes out and doesn't crumble, not like his wife who'd had to be shelteted from his rougher side. He struggles with loyalty to his wife, his growing attraction to Olena and not knowing if he can he trust her.
Loved the way this relationship developed. Loved how Maksym learns to live again and what he does for Olena in the end. Loved Olena's strength; how accepted and loved his kink and how she wasn't afraid to speak her mind or stand her ground, even knowing she risked his punishment. She knew he would never truly harm her. 5 stars.
“I will not fall for my enemy’s daughter. Doing so would be disastrous.” - The Bratva’s Captive by Jane Henry
Maksym thought being tortured by enemy Bratva was the worst thing to happen to him until they kill his beloved Taya. Bloodthirsty for revenge, he decides to kidnap the leader’s American daughter, Olena, even though she knows nothing about the dealings that her father does. As she tries to survive her humiliating tormentor, Olena realizes that she and Maksym’s fate is much different than what either of them anticipated.
Did someone ring the Dark Romance Fairy, because she has delivered a new captor romance that will make you think of being a naughty girl just to see what this vengeful villain can do. “The Bratva’s Captive” sees our poor, sweet heroine at the mercy of a monster who is out for blood, yet both cannot help but be drawn together through attraction, reveals, and some skin-flushing spanking.
I’ve been around the spanking punishment block before, but the way Maksym deals each blow, as well as some other spicy techniques for torturous pleasure along with sensual sex scenes, had this bookkeeper blushing and salivating. Whether you’re a bratty or rule-following reader, the way Ms. Henry describes our couple’s “lessons” are captivating, holding your attention hostage and making you want more when it’s done.
In terms of plot, both Olena and Maksym are easy to fall into step with without feeling like we’re being dragged behind. There is the slightest hint of insta-lust at the beginning, but quickly manage to smooth it out with captive/captor banter and questioning if what they feel is wrong.
So if you’re ever in the mood for a dark yet sensually stimulating read, “The Bratva’s Captive” is the book for you.
Final Smut Archive assessment: Disobedient girls must receive their punishment.
This book……has potential, great storyline BUT as for romance, no.
Markysm & Olena are the poster children of when 2 broken, abused, confused, delusional people get together to form a toxic union. It’s hard to even feel anything towards him due to how he constantly mentally and physically abuses Olena. Every sex scene is cringy, to keep it real, he rapes her constantly, she being accustomed to such abuse has created some sort of sick imaginary relationship with him and he seems to think that he is falling INLove with her because he is breaking her down.
She most certainly has Stockholm Syndrome and that’s what seems to please/turns him on him & fuels his dark obsession with brutally punishing her. When he doesn’t abuse her she thinks that he is mad at her or she did something wrong. Their entire “relationship” is twisted, sick, void of love. Olena is no different to him than his dog, she is his f**kable pet, unlike his murdered wife.
When he calls her “little girl” or says how “adorable” she is, it makes me literally feel sick! This is not a BDSM or S&M romance, all of their encounters are romanticized rape situations.
Olena had promise but her character was dumbed down due to his abuse the further as the book progresses. Her chatting him up as if they are dating was just sad and hard to listen to……actually they both seem confused on what they are. He beats her so much that it almost desensitizes you to it all.
Markysm gets off on hurting her, seeing her ugly crying in raw pain…..he has her brainwashed to think when he rapes her that’s his way of loving her, so she gets off from being raped by him. 🤢
I think if the author took the time to develop the 2 complex MCs this book would’ve gotten 5 stars from me.
Once again, Ms. Jane Henry has spun a tale that had me captivated and intrigued as the story unfolds. Not everything is as simple as it seems and the twists and turns along the way will keep you on the edge of your seat. While the story will read well as a stand-alone, it comes soon after the release of Maksym, held captive and tortured by The Thieves, from The Bratva Bride. Now, Maksym is ready to retaliate, and Yuri Baranova’s daughter, Olena will become his captive—she will pay the price for the murder of his Taya.
With the rescue of Maksym from The Thieves comes physical healing but emotional scars are buried deep, leading to nightmares of his captivity, the brutality of his imprisonment, the beatings, and broken bones. But news of Taya will be his breaking point.
“The worst of a prisoner’s punishment is that even after he’s free, his subconscious holds him prisoner.”
Olena Baranova has gone from prison, made by her father, to a new one, by his enemy. She is no more than a pawn to be played—and what happens during the game is what terrifies her. After the death of her mother, her father moves her from America back to Russia, but she has no freedom. She knows what her father is, and she hates him for it. Now she will be paraded before her father’s enemy, only guessing what her fate may be. “We are at war, and this room is the frontline.”
“I’m held captive with a man who’s both terrifying and powerful. There is no freedom for me. I’m what I always have been and always will be: collateral. Nothing more and nothing less.”
When assassination attempts are made on Olena’s life inside Demya’s compound, they know they must get Olena and Maksym out, and only Demya knows where they will go. But what happens when they are attacked there, too? Who is the enemy? Is there a traitor amongst them? Will Maksym be able to keep his focus on why he has Olena?
“We’re in a dangerous place. There is no safety here, even the companionship with one another is but an illusion. I cannot love her, and she cannot love me. Star-crossed lovers, as it were. Our fate has long ago been sealed.”
The story is an enemies-to-lovers tale that has the innocent, the Bratva, and a battle of control that must be fought. It will bring two people together by fate and compassion and reunite them during a power struggle, retaliation, retribution, and revenge. It is a fast-paced, action-packed, page-turning adventure with life and death, power and control, love and hate, and passion. Maksym’s loyalty is to the Brotherhood, to Demyan, and to Taya. What he can’t let happen is any feelings for Olena, she is just a means to the end—or is she? Is it time to let the past be laid to rest and start a new life, and maybe find happiness? The story does have punishments and explicit sex scenes.
“For despite our sordid pasts and twisted union, Olena Baranova is mine. She is meant to be with me. Yesterday, today, forever, and I will never take that for granted.”
“You listen to me,” I tell her. “Our pasts have formed who we are, but we aren’t slaves to them. Our pasts will not determine our future. We will.”

TRUE FEELINGS ARE BORN OF FREEDOM—NOT CAPTIVITY
