First time I'm reading this author.Love + Texting was so cute, with lovable characters and the sweetest romance.I really enjoyed it, it's fast paced and easy to follow. It has a great premise from the beginning anf while I find it interesting and refreshing I felt like sometimes in the beginning there was the same things with the texting between the main characters. Dani and Drew has a great relationship , I loved how they met it .There are some swooning moments through the story.Overall it was a great read!
Dani lost her brother and blames the army for that. She swore to stay away from military men. She's texting her lost brother months after him being gone and one day she receives a text back. Slowly she starts texting with Drew and there's no doubt that there's something going on between them. What will happen when she finds out that he's also working for the military?
This was a fast paced read. Very quick and easy to read. The premise was definitely intriguing and the premise cute, but it lacked something. Maybe it's the insta love feel that gave me, how quickly they started having feelings for each other or how it felt repetive, especially at the first part of the book with their texts back and forth.
I did think that they had a lovely meet cute, when they finally met and the last chapters were also very sweet, but I just needed something more for me to rate it higher. I'm curious about the epilogue and Nikki's story, because I want her to find her own HEA.
The only reason this book gets 3 stars instead of 2 is because I like the idea for it and I wanted to stick with it until the end to see it through. I have to admit, I thought Drew and Colton will have end up knowing each other by the time they met, so that was a bit disappointing.
The pace of the story was way too fast and unrealistic. The writing was bad, there was almost no description and what little it had was not good. Like during the dialogues, there would be no description, and suddenly, we have Dani saying they have this instant hot connection. Where?! I didn't see it. That is just one example of many. The whole books would benefit from extensive editing.
2.5 STARS NEW to me author, and I signed up for this after reading the blurb from a PR email. I thought it was such a good idea, and wanted to love this...I really did. It was very predictable to a point I kind of skipped a little. I felt more I was reading one long sentence, meaning the naration felt the same for each chcaracter. Like I said I really wanted to like this, was excited for it. I am still glad I gave it a chance and wish the author the best.
This book despite the pink chick-lit cover starts with a chapter that will have you tearing up and it packs a punch as I was reading that first chapter expecting it to be plodding along and Woah, out of the blue - the dreaded door knock. The book then jumps six months down the track and Dani and Nikki are trying to move on with their lives. The book then has Dani texting her brother Colton as she has done for the past six months about her awful blind date - unlike before though. This time Dani's phone beeps and she is staring at a response from Colton. Turns out the phone number Colton had has now been reallocated to our main male character Drew. The pair will then begin a texting friendship and eventually when one of their favorite country-western stars Luke Combs has a concert - the pair meet and it is love at first sight and the pair start a long-distance relationship. What will happen though when Dani realizes that Drew's career is the one career that she vowed never to get involved with - he is in the Marines/ Miltary just as her brother Colton was. Can Drew prove his love to Dani and that no matter what he loves her and will Dani be able to open her heart up to Drew despite the known consequences that he may come home in a body bag? Love +Texting was not only a romantic comedy that tugged at heartstrings and was a cutesy clean romance read. I was amazed at how well the author had done with this book as the words just felt like they were flowing off the page so smoothly and despite being in a rut - I was able to read this book so fast as it just felt like I was floating on air as I read it.
This was such an adorable read, it gave me "Dear Aaron" vibes seeing the characters interaction through texting. I caught myself smiling reading the cute banter. For it being a storyline that centers around sorrow, to me it felt like a light-hearted read even though I did shed a tear or two during a sad part. I So enjoyed seeing Dani and Drew's relationship blossom and the ups and downs. Enjoyed the secondary characters as well. Only complaint is how some of the chapters ended and the page breaks some of them made no sense or were all of a sudden. Being the authors second book, it's something to be worked on, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Excited for the possibility of seeing Nikki's storyline in a future book.
This was my first read by this author, and while the meet cute and the texting was adorable... It was just too predictable. There was no element of surprise, no twists, and the characters seemed to be lacking their each individual voice. I definitely believe this author has a lot of potential though, and I can't even imagine how nerve wracking It is to put your work out there. For that I give the three stars.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
This is a contemporary light romance book with emotional and mature writing. There are few characters in the plot but the focus is on two characters mainly, named Dani and Drew. Both the characters' development has been well penned down by the author. The background of each one is well potraited and both contributed to the book to the fullest. Dani have lost her brother while he was in the Navy. He was the only family as their parents has passed away in a car accident. Currently she was all alone. Months have passed away and the method of overcoming this sadness was texting. Yes, she used to text her brother's old number even though she knew it was a discarded number yet she continued to text. But one day she got a reply! Meanwhile in the Marines, Drew came to his mother and sister to spend more time with them. He got a new cell phone and number. But surprisingly within few hours of activating the number, he starts to receive text messages. These messages are from one number only. Initially he ignored but one day, he responds back to a text from that unknown number. Yes! Texting is the link between our two protagonists. Unknowingly they have come closer than expected, will they be each other's safe zone or will they part away as strangers. Ultimately the fate has its own magical way to let you meet your fate and some is potraited in this book too. The narration is good. The language used is lucid. I finished it in one sitting only.
This is a really cute, feel-good read. It’s pretty fast paced. At times I wish it was a little longer, so some parts didn’t feel rushed. There was also one line that annoyed me, but just cos it wasn’t consistent with the entire book.
Overall it’s a sweet read. Perfect for full on romantics that like their love stories almost like a fairytale.
This is a sweet military romance. Their chance encounter was set up by fate & I think her decreased brother Colton also helped. FIRST I love Drew's family especially his sister Kim who helped him find his cowgirl❤ Nikki her best friend and she dated Colton. I hope she finds love again cause she encouraged Dani to dive into it with Drew. Cause she never regretted her times with Colton when he was in the military. Amd she wants her best friend to feel that epic love too
Yes Drew & Dani do have a epic love story like Nikki knew she would. I enjoyed every page of this book & I understood Dani fear of dating someone from the military. Drew is just a loyal & caring man that we all wish for
I have noticed that people rarely want to be associate with someone who has life-risking jobs like army, navy, or merchant navy, even pilots, firemen, and air hostesses also get rejected when it comes to relationships. I have seen people even left them after years of being in relation, when they heard that their bf or gf choose this army or any other life-risking job, they left in a blink. Is it No matter what our loved one loves to do? This makes me think that we want to be loved not to want to love, isn't it? Is life guaranteed in safe jobs? Do you think so? An accident can happen anywhere any other day. Life never comes with a guarantee card. Don't you love the person when his face is glowing in the happiness of getting his childhood dream job? Don't you love to see her eyes when it twinkling with her every accomplishment? Don't you like to see that innocent joy in their eyes when the dream comes true?
Anyway, let's start with this book. This book raised this topic actually. This book talked about some questions in our society and the Author brilliantly dealing it with immense maturity. This is a story of a girl named Dani who lost her brother in the army. After losing her big brother she was so devastated and could not come up with her sadness. She copes it with utmost innocence, she started talking with her big brother in messages. She kept messaging on his number every day which makes her somehow not feeling as being alone. But, one day the number was being enabled to another person and he was speechless when he saw it.
After being back from duty for a few weeks, he gets a new cell phone and within hours of activating the number, he receives strange text messages, this makes him curious because messages didn't stop. He keeps getting it after every few days. One day he messaged back and eventually came to know about Dani, a loving little sister who lost her brother and the only one family members she has -she lost her parents also in a car accident - and he felt a soft thing for this sad girl who is courageously trying to deal with her loss.
Their texting goes on, after some months they became friends and decided to meet up and then Dani came to know that this man, who is now being a shelter for her, is also working in a life-risking job. But Dani was decided no to let come anybody who is in work for the army. What happened next, how Dani made her decision, if you want to know then you have to read it.
Another thought-provoking issue raised by Nikki, she is Dani's friend and the finance of her late brother. This is another mature question but the author left it unsolved. Some questions are better left unsolved, let it be. Some books left you with a question, an unsolved problem, let it solve by the reader. I liked it this way.
Now if you ask me did I enjoyed it? Yes !! I enjoyed this short romantic novel ( it's a really short novel with just 203 pages ) with some mature problems. It's not any kind of nonsense romance or stupid road blocking social issues. It raised real questions and understand it. But in my opinion, Nikki was the most underrated character in this book, it would be great if the author elaborates Nikki and gives her a little more space, her character was left unjustified.
The gripping and fluent writing style makes it a smooth page-turner, I like the narration style which makes it a modern-day love story.
It's a second novel of the author and I love it, looking for more. I will rate this book 4 out of 5 . 1point I cut because the story is too short and of course because of Nikki.
I love texting books. I love the back and forth between the main characters. I love how they get to know each other one text and a time. It’s my absolute favorite. So why am I giving this book a 3 star and not a 5 star. I’ll get to that in a minute.
The beginning of this book had me feeling all giddy inside. It was perfect. Dani was heartbroken after loosing her brother. She would text his number to try to feel a little close to him.
Until one day... someone texted her back. Drew was taking some down time from the Marines. He wanted to slow down a bit before his next deployment. So when a random number texts him. He didn’t think anything of it... and texted right back.
I loved that part. Dani and Drew getting to know each other. I loved how they took it kinda slow. And how they first met. But as I was reading on... I definitely felt like it was missing something.
This book was missing some serious heat. This book was straight PG. not even PG-13. I kept reading and reading and once I got to the middle of the book... I knew this was a clean book. Sex was said, never shown.
“Making love and getting to know each other."
“Dani and I have relearned each other's bodies."
“taking control of the kiss, and before I know it, I'm underneath him. We spend the next hour reassuring each other."
I’m sorry... but I needed those sex scenes. It just felt to wholesome. For being adults and Drew being a Marine. You would expect some serious steam! And since I didn’t have any steam to hold on to... this book kinda dragged. It had such a strong beginning... I’m kinda sad it didn’t hold.
It was also kinda boring. I was reading non stop up until I got to the 50% mark. When nothing really happened. I started to put my kindle down. I was loosing interest.
Overall... this wasn’t a bad read. But if you’re looking for something wholesome.... this is your book.

3.5 STARS I was kindly sent a copy of this book from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own A cute and sweet modern day romance that started with a simple text.
After losing her brother, Dani has continued texting his number, just to feel a little closer to him and to help her slowly move on. Until one day, someone replies. Drew has just picked up his new phone, surprised to receive a text from a random woman about being stood up on her date. He decides to reply, and soon Dani and Drew are texting on a regular basis, sharing everything but personal details. It’s not long before they meet in person, and the connection they felt for one another via text is multiplied tenfold. As they navigate a relationship, their connection is tested when Drew’s work as a Marine opens wounds Dani has spent months trying to heal. But true love is worth fighting for, and neither are going to let anything stop them from being together.
I love the meet cute of texting a random person/wrong number and having them be the love of your life. It’s a cute modern day romance, and the text conversations always add such a great element to the story. Dani and Drew were both fun characters, and together their relationship was great to follow.
The story was super predictable, so the big moments didn’t pack as much punch as they could have. The writing also felt a little off at times, but it was enjoyable nonetheless and was a great quick read that was light and fun.
Given the epilogue, I’m hoping for a book two. Nikki seemed like an interesting enough character, and the glimpses of the relationship she had/will have definitely caught my attention, so I do hope we get her story.
The story had potential to be a hit, and while it didn’t quiet hit the mark, it was still a fun romance read if you’re looking for something a bit light and sweet.
Wow! This book hits you right in the feels from page 1! Gut wrenching, heartbreaking, soul shattering pain.
Dani has lost her best friend. Her brother. She doesn’t know how to cope at times so she continues to text his number. There has been no response for months until one day when she is talking about a blind date gone wrong there is a reply. It shakes her to her core but she responds.
An unlikely friendship is bloomed from these text messages. She has no idea who is behind the replies until the person pushes her for more.
Drew is back stateside for a while and finds himself thinking about the future when a random text comes through on his new phone. It’s clear that someone else had the number before him and he thinks it’s a brotherly urge to respond seeing as he is a big brother but I think it was more of a heavenly intervention that urged him.
Drew finds that the woman he is texting is someone he can’t stop thinking of and he pushes for more. A name. A picture. Info about her and those in her life. He just wants more and this is a first for him.
Once they finally meet face to face it’s like in that instant they have a string tethering them together. This is it for them. Their person they are supposed to be with.
However once Dani learns of Drew’s job things so sideways for a minute but they get back on track. There will always be the lingering fear of something happening to Drew but Dani pushes to overcome. That is until her worst nightmare comes to life.
Dani has a decision to make at the end of this book. She has to decide if she will let fear overcome her or if she will take a chance in their love.
You won’t be able to put this book down until it’s done!
What would you do if you get a text from an unknown number? Can you think of a love story brewing over texts?
This book is a sweet and love story of Dani and Drew. Six months after Dani's brother's death, she's still texting her big brother, without a response of course - until one day she gets one. On the other hand, Drew feels it's time to settle down and spend more time stateside closer to his mother and sisters. After being back for a few weeks, he gets a new cell phone and within hours of activating the number, he receives a strange text message.
UNKNOWN NUMBER: Why do I fall for it, right? I went out on a blind date with a friend's boyfriends' friend. Does that make sense? Anyways, long story short, I got stood up. Never doing it again.
DREW: The guy's a loser. They never expected one text message to change their lives. As the texts continue, can they let their guard down long enough for love? . 👉The story is very interesting and sweet and I could not stop myself from reading. 👉The writing style of the author is lucid and attractive. 👉There are a few twists and turns that will keep the reader hooked throughout. 👉The bond between protagonists is way too cute. 👉The title and the cover of the book are attractive and perfect for the story. 👉Overall, it is a sweet and easy-breezy read. Recommended to all romance readers out there.
This is a story of two individuals who are surprisingly connected to each other by fate and then they gradually became the safe place for eachother. This is a contemporary light romance book with emotional and mature writing. There are two main characters, Dani and Drew. Dani had lost her brother while he was in the Navy. Now she is all alone by herself as their parents have expired also. As everyone has their own way of coping from their tragedies, she used to text her brother's old number even though she knew it was a discarded number. She used to vent out all her thoughts and feelings through those text until one day she got a reply for one of her text. In the Marines, Drew came to his mother and sister. He got a new cell phone and number. Surprisingly within few hours of activating the number, he starts to receive numerous texts from one number only. He ignored but gradually when he went through the texts he couldn't stop himself from replying for a text and he sends a text to that unknown number. So the texting was the link between our two protagonists. The narration is good. The language used is lucid. I finished it in one sitting only. The author has written down each and every emotion of the character in such a beautiful manner that you like it. Plus the character development of both is well penned. The plot is a well paced plot.
Before I get into it, I feel like this would be a very specific taste that not everyone would be into.
That being said, I really enjoyed it. Its a quick read, I finished it in half a day. It's also a fairly relaxing read, which is nice!
It's definitely a romance novel, and while I think it could have gone into the spicy scenes instead of fading to black, it's a good story. The premise of it is cute in its own right, but what got me is that it's probably the first romance novel I've read that doesn't really feel like a book. It's quite realistic in terms of characters, and I'm here for it.
There is no real drama, it's just the progression of a relationship. It moves quickly, but that's not super uncommon for a lot of people's relationships. I enjoyed how it grew from infrequent, impersonal messages to the relationship it did. It was written and executed well.
My only complaint is the timeline threw me off a bit. There were a couple times that it referenced how long they had been together and it didn't add up in my head based on what I had read. If that doesn't bother you, it's a cute casual read for sure!
I'd love to see a novel that follows her friend and her new lover, like it's hinted at at the end.
So this is story of Dani and Drew.Dani was a simple and pretty girl who only had a brother and a best friend Nikki as family. She lost her brother while he was in navy. She was all shattered with the news of her brother's death and decided not to get attached or be with someone from military. But she used to text his brother even after his death. And one day his brother's phone number was activated by someone else.He was Drew who had a lovely family and had been in Navy for ten years.Dani and Drew started texting but with the condition that they won't reveal their personal information. They became friends, developed feelings for each other and Drew's secret of being in navy is revealed to Dani. Now what? What will be Dani's decision? ...... Go and grab your copy to read and know more about Dani and Drew. ..... Writing style was lucid with easy vocabulary. Characters were well portrayed and chatting between leads was fun.The plot was simple and predictable but yet it was engaging.Title is well suited for storyline and cover is also very pretty! .... Overall short and enjoyable!
Lexi Aidyn is a new to me author and she has got a sweet, cute little accidental romance that give you a lot of feels and take you on a journey that'll make you a believer in fate.
Love + Texting gives us Drew and Dani's story. She recovering from a loss and when she texts a number, she gets a reply she was never expecting. And the person on the other end might just be able to help heal her heart and help her find a happily ever after.
Not many complications and all of the feels in many moments. Lexi delivered a good story and I'm curious to read about some side characters we met along the way.
This is the happy ending romance book that sometimes we all wish to read. The idea of two people meeting through texting is cute. Dani, who lost her brother and blames the military service for that, and then she swore to stay away from military men. She texts her lost brother months after him being gone, and one day she receives a text back. The person turns out to be Drew, and they both start developing a relationship. But then she discovers that Drew is also working for the military!. I loved the relationship between Dani and Nikki. And one between Drew and Kim.
The story was super predictable and the writing also felt a little off at many places, but it was enjoyable and was a great quick read that was and cute and fun.
I really liked the book love + texting by lexi aidyn. The cover of the book is really beautiful.Main characters in the story are dani and drew. Its a romantic story. The story of dani and drew is very interesting. everybody can identify patterns within the people they date or are attracted to, but when it comes to believing that you can only happily be with someone who fits a shallow, preconceived notion of what’s “right” for you, you’re only keeping yourself away from the real connection. The writing style of the author is lucid and attractive. The tittle is very appropriate for this romantic story. Recommended to readers who loves romantic stories.
Just finished Love + Texting by Lexi Aidyn and it was exactly what I needed 💛
This was such a sweet, easy read—I finished it in an afternoon without even trying. No heavy moments, no triggers, just a feel-good story that keeps you smiling the whole time.
If you’re in a reading slump or just want something light and uplifting, this one is a perfect pick. Sometimes you don’t need deep or complicated… you just need something that reminds you why you love reading in the first place.
And bonus—I’ve actually met the author, and she is an absolute gem. Makes me love the book even more.
I’m already looking forward to starting the next book in the series, Mine2Love.
In the story, Dani last lost her brother who was an officer in the Navy, his demise left Dani in deep agony, as he was not only her brother but a best friend. During that worst part of her life, she met a person who is no less than an angel for her who helps her in recovery from this precious loss of her life and fill her life with colours of joy and laughter. Slowly and gradually she understood one thing that nothing is permanent and we should not strike to the past. If you are the one who loves reading stories with a happy ending then pick it up.
This is a new age romance that revolves around Dani and Drew, the plot is quite interesting and the character is well developed. I love the meet by text romance and was intrigued by the cover, Dani lost her brother and blames the army for that. She swore to stay away from military men. She's texting her lost brother months after him being gone and one day she receives a text back. Slowly she starts texting with Drew and there's no doubt that there's something going on between them. What will happen when she finds out that he's also working for the military?
I wanted to love this... the story itself would have been SO AMAZING if it was written well. The grammatical errors and poor wording was too atrocious for me to even enjoy this. I skipped through a lot so I could just get it over with. I’m disappointed. If a book isn’t written well... I know I will not be enjoying what I read. Good idea for a story. Bad writing. I’m sad about.
This was a cute story. Out of pain and heartbreak turns into something special. The prologue just tore my heart out, but then this book put it right back together. Fate works in mysterious ways. Dani texts her brother's number when one day someone texts back. It's a freak meeting that good turn into her future. They are really sweet and I loved their first in person meeting. This is a nice light read that packs the feels. Dani and Drew are going to make you fall in love with them.
This book had all the makings of a sweet, romantic Hallmark movie. And I truly enjoyed it. It was sweet, and funny, and at times brought a few tears to my eyes. I noticed several errors throughout the book, as mentioned by a few other reviewers, but, it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. I just loved the characters, and the relationship between them, and not just the romantic one. I’ll definitely look at more books from this author.
The story seemed a little too predictable for me. It was a cute idea but I think I was more interested in what was going on with the female leads roommate. It does seem to set up for her story and I will be very interested to read that! I love that it has a playlist to go with but I wish it would have been at the start of the book. I read it on my kindle so I didn’t see the playlist until I was finished and wished I had it to listen to while I was reading!
I will say that this could really do with some editing. There were words in there that weren't correct, grammer missing and so on. Sometimes, it was hard to figure out who was talking. Great storyline, and I really liked the characters, but it could be more cohesive for sure. So I knocked off a star for because of the editing issues.
Still, I would be up for reading the roommate's story (Nikki)
