Isn't it funny how you can never hear of a genre and then all of a sudden you can't get away from it? This is yet another omegaverse story, and while I admit I don't love the genre, I like this book's twist on it - our Alpha hero falls madly in love with a Beta and has to deal with the fact that he can't do any Alpha things to him since, well, it doesn't work that way. (In this novel, at least.) So it's like having your cake and eating it too for readers who are perhaps ambivalent on the genre with the bonus (icing? Maybe I should lose the simile) that the romance is really quite sweet.

Although I'm not sure when I would have ended up finishing this without being able to read on Kindle now at work, I still enjoyed the fluff and wholesomeness from the story. I actually am very tempted to get the second volume. There were some issues with the translation such as grammar errors and awkward dialogue, but the humor and emotion still came through fine.

B 83% | Very Good*

This is just going to be short and sweet, because bottom line I really enjoyed this, and I’m going to buy the next book and read it ASAP. I’ve picked up several books in the last couple of weeks that are objectively good but for some reason I couldn’t really get into and with this book I now understand that I’m currently in the mood for pure fluff. And that’s exactly what this book is. With a pretty heavy dose of smut, so if that’s not your cup of tea please abstain for your own good lol

For those of you who don’t know, “Omegaverse” refers to stories in which humans have developed a second gender that can be either “omega”, “beta” or “alpha”. Normally betas are the majority while the other two are the minority, although that appears to not be the case for Look at Me. Generally speaking, Omegas and Alphas can secrete pheromones that affect each other, with male omegas being able to bear children and Alphas being the best and most dashing of the population (aka the Elite). In most of these types of stories, the couple would be omega x alpha as those answers to the fantasy of Mpreg and essentially allows readers to see their favorite couple start a biological family. It’s always interesting to explore different pairings in this type of setting, like in this story.

And boy, this one sure made my heart flutter. Heerak is hit by Doseon like a ton of bricks, and to be honest I felt similarly. My heart kept clenching at how matter-of-factly this man thinks himself beneath Heerak (the handsome Alpha) and how hard it is for him to understand why Heerak is taking him out, while simultaneously being like “well, I’m never going to get such an offer ever again, I’m going to stick around until ultimately he bores of me”. I need Heerak to confess already and then spend as much time as needed to convince Doseon this is forever.
At first, Heerak thought Doseon was strictly average and plain but that was not the case at all. Heerak had misjudged him. This was an objective truth, separate from the fact that Heerak couldn’t think objectively because he was currently completely head over heels for Doseon.
Because this Alpha is 100% head-over-heels in love with the lovely beta who keeps him off balance. And it was very nice to spend most of the book in Heerak’s POV, experiencing exactly how these emotions present themselves and how confusing this experience is for someone who has always been with Omegas. An interesting exploration of the whole genre, really.

Overall, I just really like them as a couple. Heerak is really sweet with Doseon, even if he can be a bit overbearing. Doseon is just adorable, even though he’s the older one in the relationship.. And together they’re just so… pleasant. Although I do fear Doseon might think their drive and home dates are because Heerak is ashamed of him, as opposed to the real reason… which is Heerak being insanely jealous and worried he will snap if he so much as sees Doseon looking at someone else (not really healthy, but at least our Alpha knows he’s completely crazy in this)

Now, is this book perfect? Nah-uh. While I really did enjoy the fact the book addressed both the issues of consent and of taking care of your partner during the act, especially in a genre that has been known to dabble in dubious consent due to the concept of “heat” and “rut”, it was slightly off-putting that many of those centered around Heerak and his ego. Basically, my thoughts are, “you get points for trying but you could’ve executed it better”. I also would’ve liked a bit more of Doseon’s POV to experience more of how he’s receiving Heerak’s mood swings and how he’s growing to think of Heerak, because he’s essentially dating a man he’s idolized.

Another point worth mentioning is that, while the translation is mostly smooth (save for a couple of really awkward sentences), there are a TON of editorial mistakes in this kindle edition, such as italics where there shouldn’t be, words with random spaces, words missing letters (usually the first letter), and letters that randomly appear in the middle of sentences, words that are in the wrong place in the sentence (such as “their together hands” instead of “their hands together”) etc. This should really see another round of editing to get it in top shape.

Story and Setting –17/20
Characters –17/20
Relationships –17/20
Translation – 14/20
Reading Experience –18/20

Final Score: 83

I was debating whether I wanted to give this book 3 or 4 stars. It took me a long time to get into this book. It was never bad, but the chapters are all at least 50 pages long, so I struggled to get through them. It also took a while for me to understand the appeal of Doseon, he was just so boring. He never reacted to anything and barely responded in conversations. There also isn't really much of a plot or conflict to this story, it's mostly just reading about 2 people from different worlds interacting with one another. I could see why this would bore a lot of people, but I like character driven stories, so I didn't mind. The last thing that kind of concerns me is the power imbalance in the relationship. Not necessarily the fact that Heerak is Doseon's boss, but how Doseon seems to think that Heerak is almost like a god since he is an alpha. Doseon never feels like he is good enough and is always waiting for Heerak to just leave him for someone "better." I hope that he gains some more confidence at some point. That all said, I actually did end up really liking it by the end. I especially liked seeing Heerak become more and more enamored with Doseon. Heerak is just so smitten and it is adorable, definitely my favorite part.

I would give this 8-9/10 maybe. But mainly because i have the Hardcorver and the editing was weird sometimes and one word were missing on pages randomly.

But about the Story: I love this couple, Heerak and Doosen are so sweet!. Not your Standart Omegaverse. I dont read this type often but its always a bit abusive etc in this Genre. Thankfully this was not the case here.

Heerak is always asking Doosen. And he is Considerate. He doesnt treat him bad.

Heerak is more a bit possessive ( not in a bad way), nervous around Doosen, to the point where he say what he thinks. Aka letting his heart talk when he is around Doosen.

Doosen is always friendly, considerate and trying to help others.
With Heerak he is calm almost like stone xD ( but inside he is nervous as well)

Its so good to read how Heerak starts falling in love with Doosen.

They are really sweet with each other. It was so much fun to read it.

Story contains Smut ( not to much, but well written) fluff and funny moments!.

Definitly a good read. And i will continue reading vol 2 soon. Cant wait to See how their relationship progresses.

Amazon recommended me this book after I read Kiss Me Liar. I was attracted to the cover art, but I totally forgot that Kiss Me Liar is an omegaverse tale, and I don't like that subgenre. Luckily, in this world, betas are not affected by pheromones at all. It totally doesn't make sense, but because of this, the omegaverse aspects in this are not strong. However, I found the couple to be boring. It took me a long time to finish. I was hoping for more pining and swooning, but I didn't get those feelings. For such a short book, I really took my time to get through it. I know there's a second volume, but I doubt I'll ever pick it up. As for the first volume, if you're looking for omegaverse, then you'll be disappointed. If like me, you weren't, you just find the romance to be a bit bland. I want to give it a middle of the road rating, but I will dock off a little because of how long it took me to finally finish. 2.85/5

Cute slow burn

Loved this story! The romance seemed like it would be too fast paced at first, I mean with an opening scene like that ;) but the slow burn was actually pretty good! I loved how much the top worked to communicate his frustrations but wasn’t whiny, and how the bottom’s anxiety and nervousness wasn’t just a plot device - making the story seem realistic and relatable. There were times I wanted to throttle them both - I’m an impatient reader tbh - but there was never a blow up over a miscommunication that was dragged on, or unnecessary drama. Just two adults fumbling with first love. Very endearing!

A refreshing deviation from the typical omegaverse trope. An alpha/beta romance. I enjoy that both characters are quite frank and open and have decent communication with one another, and even tho many times I want to smack them on the heads for being ridiculous, it's charming. Nearly the entirety of vol 1 is told from the alpha Heerak's pov, which felt unusual to me but I liked having his pov first and being reassured by knowing his thoughts as they enter into the inevitable relationship difficulties.

Absolutely loved the novel! I enjoyed the characters as they go through a series of firsts! I love how they are coming to terms with their feelings. I love their development and how slowly the feelings are growing for one another! Their personalities are just right for one another! I love seeing how he is doing things so rushed just to see his partner and then getting flustered and embarrassed by his actions. So looking to the next volume! Thank you author for a good read! ❤️

It was a good dip for myself into the Omega-verse genre but it really lacked plot and drama for me and to be honest it could’ve been a bit more steamy. It also fell short for me at the end it was just a lot of talk and no action and we didn’t really get Dooseon’s pov until the very end. Overall it was an ok read.

This was a slightly spicy read. Heerak is a dominant alpha who accidentally sleeps with Dooseon, a beta. Heerak can't seem to forget Dooseon.

They both need to learn to communicate with each other about their thoughts, feelings and their expectations.

I will continue this series because I want to see how their relationship develops.

this is so much better than other omega verse

When will we get volume 2? God I hope they make this into a webtoon. Don’t make Doseon turn into an omega either that’s lame and over played

Love Gay Romance

I love romance. But this narrative was bland. Consistent internal monologue from the primary that managed to repeat the same information.
Two stars for one good erotic scene.

good story, very bad translation

I love this story but a lot of the translations are very awkward and there are so many errors and typos. It’s super distracting and annoying.

Alpha x Beta Supremacy

I adore this series and was excited to see it “re-released”, as the first version had numerous errors - punctuation, grammar, spelling, it was a mess! It was a miracle I even enjoyed it, much less bonded with the characters.
This new release fixed quite a bit (I did side-by-side comparisons) but I won’t sugar coat it. There were still punctuation errors (new ones, as they fixed the majority of the old ones), but it was primarily spacing issues, so it was still an easy read vs the last one. They also did a good job with rephrasing things. Better word choice, better verbiage. It allowed it to flow more naturally. Another nifty new feature was the addition of “notes”. Key terms or phrases are now conveniently numbered and noted with an easy to understand guide.
Moving on to the story itself, I adore it! Heerak and Doseon are beyond precious and I love the dynamic of overly devoted Alpha with his bemused and unruffled beta. I appreciate the switch up in viewpoints at the end, because Doseon is so stiff sometimes, it’s hard to believe he’s as equally smitten, despite what he says or does. The ending is happy neutral, but it definitely leaves an impending feeling of doom lingering in the back of your mind. It’s a story, and therefore we need conflict. On to the next!

“You might consider that night an unfortunate accident; I am truly sorry about that. But when it comes to me, I was left with a good memory, of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m very grateful for that.”

Some toxic Korean BL Omegaverse novels work. Some don't. This one didn't.

I wanted to like this, but I felt utterly smothered by the male lead and I could not understand what our beta love interest saw in him. It didn't seem fun, pleasant, erotic, or anything. There were times where I almost loved it, but then the ML became overbearing again and it just made me uncomfortable.

Additionally, the editing and formatting of this novel were atrocious. WordExcerpt doesn't have the best reputation amongst "licensers" or "translators," but I'm pretty sure they should pay me for the number of corrections I submitted through my Kindle App.
