Martin: Law Detective

Rate this book
Tina
I’m just an overworked post grad trying to get by.
One day, I notice a sexy man moving in next door.
I want to introduce myself, but once again my awkward personality fails me.
I didn’t think I would ever be able to work up the courage to meet him, until a pipe burst in my house.
He helps fix my pipe, and I find out he’s a detective.
I am super attracted to him but worried my past will get between us.

Martin
I was just promoted to detective and relocated to a new part of town.
A cute girl who lives next door dodges my greeting while I am moving in.
I thought I said something wrong and she was avoiding me, until she showed up on my doorstep with a big mess on her hands.
I fix her leaky pipe and ask her out.
Little did I know, there was a lot more to this girl than meets the eye.
At the end of the day, I know she’ll be worth the fight.

Short story telling a sweet & steamy insta-love romance with a curvy younger woman and an older alpha police officer. Happily ever after! No cliffhangers! No cheating!

CW// drug dealing

I read this one mainly for laughs because it turned out to be so bad that I was laughing nonstop throughout the story.

It follows Martin who’s just moved into a new home. He’s a detective who’s investigating a drug cartel. His nextdoor neighbor Tina is involved with that drug cartel. After several awkward encounters where Tina goes as far as running into her home to avoid talking to him, Tina eventually meets Martin after she falls while cleaning under her sink and breaks off a pipe that floods her kitchen. The two start dating shortly after that and the romance ensues.

The plotline is so ridiculous and extra dramatic for no reason. That sink moment was really wild for the reason why Tina ends up finally talking to Martin. The timeline of their relationship also moves REALLY fast. I knew it would be instalove, but that epilogue revealing when they move in with each other really shows how fast their relationship went.

The dialogue in this book is really stilted and awkward. It doesn’t flow like natural dialogue, which ruined the flow of the story.

Martin and Tina are really shallow and uninteresting characters. They also don’t entirely match the descriptions for this book. For example, there is no indication anywhere in the story that Martin is an older man like the synopsis on Goodreads describes.

I got this book for free off of BookFunnel so I’m not mad I read it, especially with how much I laughed while reading it, but it’s definitely not one I’d recommend. If you’re looking for a short, spicy romance, there’s a lot of better ones out there.

This is supposed to be a short, instalovey, steamy romance. I picked it up to read because it said short and I was in the mood for short. What I was not in the mood for was the quality of this writing which was not engaging and had way too much telling and very little showing. The heroines awkwardness was not cute and the dialogue was strained and unnatural between the characters. It's only a 35 page story so it's very short. Even so, I struggled to bring myself to finish it.

I thought this was a different kind of story. Didn't know it was romance chick-lit. This is so poorly written it hurt to read. At least it was short. Don't read unless you're desparate.

I think this book would be good for sex ed. It is very clinical in the open door scene. I felt no chemistry. The characters stated it was hot, but I only heard Spock’s voice with the clinical nature of the descriptions.

Very clinical and felt monotoned. Boring spicey education college course taught by a monotone professor. No real feelings. No chemistry with the characters. Felt more like someone that has never experienced what they wrote ab. Choppy would be a compliment to describe it...

'Martin, Law Detective' was an interesting short story. The plot was filled with a detective moving in next door, a drug runner in the vicinity, a major drug bust, and a budding relationship. Also, Martin and Tina, the protagonists, tried their best to obtain their HEA, although I couldn't see it. Overall, I have mixed feelings about the narrative due to the lack of vivid descriptions that could have livened up the tale.

In The Nick Of Time -
This is a short and interesting story about a police detective who falls for his neighbour and she helps him with his job. There is enough heat to make you wet and the storyline is entertaining.

This book had so much potentially, but it was rush through key points that could have benefited the plot and climax.

A different take on the traditional love story; the crook and the cop: can they make it work? Short and sweet with plenty of heat.

The story had a lot of potential. Maybe we could have seen a better chemistry between the main characters if it was a longer one.

Each Officer was sexy, smart, sensitive & hard as a rock. They all had a back story of a past, weather it be a relationship, or bad boy before they became a cop.
The lead woman also had relationship issues that had to be conquered before they could let the handsome cop be they beginning of a new relationship.
Each man had a great steamy scene but they all seemed a bit similar.
But all 6 short stories of these hot cops have nice endings.
