Amelia Storm #0.5

Storm's Awakening

A bonus story

Not all storms will pass.

A decade ago, Amelia Storm left her hometown of Chicago, escaping into the protective embrace of the military. There, she grew strong as she licked the wounds inflicted by the Passarellis, one of the city's most dangerous crime families. A family she both loved and hated.

As she fought for her country, another war raged in her hometown, and her beloved brother was a casualty, killed in the line of duty as a Chicago police officer. With his death as her awakening, Amelia returns home, this time as a special agent with the FBI.

No longer a scared girl, she vows to avenge her brother and do what she can to end the city's deep wells of crime and corruption. Or die trying. After all, she has nothing to lose.

Storm's Awakening is the prequel to Mary Stone and Amy Wilson's riveting new Amelia Storm Series.

‘Military veteran turned FBI special agent Amelia Storm returns to her corrupt hometown of Chicago to avenge her brother’s death, becoming an unstoppable force that exposes the city’s darkest secrets while solving its most dangerous crimes.’

Storm's Awakening is Book #0.5 in the Amelia Storm Series by Mary Stone. This series turned out to be a fast-moving mix of crime, suspense, and personal drama that was so easy to get hooked on. I have been devouring my way through Ms. Stone’s series/books for a while now, and can always count on her to deliver an engrossing read, and this series didn’t disappoint.
The books follow Amelia Storm, a military veteran turned FBI Special Agent, as she tackles dangerous cases that often hit close to home - especially after returning to her corrupt hometown of Chicago.
Amelia is the heart of the series. She’s smart, determined, and unafraid to push boundaries, but she’s also human, carrying the weight of past trauma and personal loss. That balance of toughness and vulnerability makes her feel real and very relatable.
The pacing is quick, the dialogue sharp, and the settings are vivid enough to pull you right into all the action. Each book works as its own mystery - but reading them in consecutive order lets you see not only Amelia’s growth but also the bigger story threads unfolding over the series.
If you like strong female leads, gritty investigations, and thrillers that mix action with emotional depth, then this series is the one for you.
Happy Reading…

Amelia Storm left Chicago ten years ago and joined the Army after having trouble with her boyfriend's family. Now she's an FBI agent and is back for her own family.

This is a short story introducing Amelia Storm, the main character of a new series. I really enjoyed this excellent read. It's well-written with wonderful characters and it's a quick, fun read.

A good prequel to a new series. The first book addresses the two main issues of this book...the agents torture and the brothers death. Now the prequel gives a bit more detail and insight into those events and why they were still so fresh in the topic of book one. A great read and time spent building more of this world and Agents background.

Wow what a great little read. This is a short story that takes place before the first book. I loved that it gives more information on the story line in Amelia Storm’s series. This seems to be a really fun exciting new series and I can’t wait to read more.

Prequels are always a let down for me. Once I've read the first book in the series, I have a good idea what the story in the prequel will be. And while I was sure Storm's Awakening would fill in information on Trevor's family and some back story on his death, I was pleasantly surprised by th he subplot. The Irish Mafia has always facinated me and the events if the short story have me hoping to see more interaction with these criminals and Agent Storm in future books.?
