Who knew running for your life, and getting stabbed to death, could be so... good?

As Thomas' life ends, the Gods of another world swoop in and grab his soul. What they needed was a champion with the courage and strength to fight against the rising chaos in their world of Eternis. What they got was a college math student who spent more time gaming than he does studying. When they throw him into a new world, in a new body, at least they give him a familiar gaming interface. Or, it would have been familiar, if he hadn’t lost his memories from the trauma of his death. Can he sort himself out and rise to the occasion? Even the Gods don’t know.

This book contains classic gaming elements, mixed in with cultivation and body enhancement ideas. Join the journey to see if Valor can become the person the Gods need him to be without losing himself to the violence and duplicity that plagues the world of Eternis.

First, my review: “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”

Second, I am not a bot...at least I don’t think I am. Yes this is copy pasta (just learned that term, so fun!) simply because I feel like any book I read deserves acknowledgement but at the same time my feelings on reviews conflict with the normal review process.

I enjoyed this book, so my goal is to promote it and help the author. If you are a potential reader, just stop reading now and take the above as all you need to know. I am not going to share my reasoning, thoughts on the book, or any opinions that would influence your decision to read it. It is my opinion that Art needs to be experienced at an individual level. You are the only one that can determine what you like and don’t like. Don’t let others make that decision for you. You should definitely read the book and completely ignore all of the reviews. Or not if you don’t think this book is for you. That choice is all yours and the beauty of art appreciation. You are a much better judge of what you will like than anyone here.

If you are a member of the IAK Guild (thanks, Jason) or part of the review police, feel free to criticize me and challenge my philosophy on reviewing art. I think we all love a good debate. The forums are open and I welcome your comments. I was wrong in my previous request to get you to stop. Your blatant disregard for that request has led to some fun discussions. Growth is important for us all.

Cheers

This book suffered from trying to do too much. Put too much into a book. This is a recurring problem I have seen lately. It started off really well. Not an original story but whatever. Man gets killed on his world and is brought to another world by a god. He was a 22 year old college student when he died but woke up in the body of a 13 year old. He initially had amnesia and didn't know anything about his new or old life. He finds someone that offers to teach him about the world. He is told that he has to choose between being a cultivator or a caster. Once he makes that decision the other path is cut off from him. There are gamelit mechanics in this book similar to others. We of course find out he is special and can do both. The first 30 percent of the book was pretty straightforward and I enjoyed it. After that it almost felt like a different book.

Sorry all this is longer then wanted.

By way character & skill sheets the stat sheets extra may looked nice but it was not very viewable on my kindle at all too small/thin letters and bit fuzzy, so that was ruined for me and as that is one favorite things in litrpg reads could not help but be frustrated by this.

Also Just felt a bit rushed and was missing something at time's. And a lot if things that happened just didn't feel like they would not go that way in reality of situation in, won't go in to specifics as don't want spoil anything for anyone who not read it yet.

Could of done without love interest of any kind.
Also think him being able use all elements type being possibly too OP and would of been better for story if was two or 3 maybe but can also see how kinda worked and why did. (But that's just my thoughts on that.)

Also the whole oath thing felt overused & too easily agreed too, & didn't like whole squad thing.

So will I bother with book 2 honestly I don't know but I daught it.
At 81% I just wanted to give up on this story.

I apologise for not giving a better score but will say found the mana and Qi system as well as how done really interesting, and body alterations intriguing as well seems can upgrade body with, = mana, qi, and body cultivation each.

This guy is a very uninteresting blank slate Gary Stu. Just believe and you can achieve! And he does. It might take a whole three tries or some stoically born pain but everything works for him. And he is a special little snowflake.

The world isn't very built or interesting. Everyone he meets wants to shower him with gifts or training. Really surprised he didn't get an immediate blowie when he entered the planet.

His background and reason for getting killed have no imagination and were very uninteresting.

I listened to the audiobook (reader does fine) for four hours and a half before throwing in the towel.

DNF.

And this is book frigging one of a series...

Thomas is murdered by mistake during a robbery. His final thoughts are if he just could have done better. When he reawakens he has lost his memories. He is younger, luckily discovered by a great mage. Ends up training and when he thinks he has found a home local politics rears its head and destroys it. He then flees to learn and ready himself for vengeance by attending the Academy.
Great book really want to get to the next one fast.

Great cultivation & litrpg combo

Outstandingly well written combination of cultivation and litrpg themes, with a reborn in a fantasy world setting. Too many times I've read books that focused too much on one of the other, but Dammeyer gets it right. Looking forward to the next instalment!

Don't judge by cover

Don't judge by the cover. It's a very good book, with an interesting and we'll defined system for the world. Good characters and writing, overall worth the read.

Nice litrpg. Well thought out and has a plot you can get behind.

I like stories that make sense and don’t end up with the main character acting terrible. Not a lot on the back story but actually wouldn’t have made a difference I think. Will read the next one.

Entertaining LItRPG Cultivation story

Is good. Well worth reading if you like these kinds of things, LItrpg cultivation with traditional fantasy elements. If you don't why are you reading reviews?

Just a little bit bland.

There’s something about this book and the main character in it that doesn’t draw you in. At least that was the way it was with me. It felt too formalike in which all of the key points for a story like this had to be hit and there wasn’t too much feeling in it. That said the writing wasn’t that bad though it came across more like a third person narrative than a first person perspective. Since this was at least a decent start for new series I gave it four stars we’ll see if the writing style gets better in future books.
