Ghosts won’t leave her alone, and dead people keep getting dumped in her blowup pool. Peg Darrow is not having the best summer. When the Death Mantle passed to her, Peg had no idea how much her life would change. The secrecy, the unexpected trances, and the reclusive lifestyle are enough to drive anyone mad. All of the sacrifices made to keep her new talents hidden were for nothing when relatives of the former holder show up demanding the Mantle and exposing her status as the carrier. She’d been told to keep her new skillset to herself, but once the sisters force her into arbitration, everything is out in the open--painting a target on Peg’s back. Were the four months of self-imposed martyrdom to contain her secret worth it? Probably not. Add to that a looming goblin war, a murder charge, and training to become a ghost things are getting intense. After all, when the dead want to be heard, they won’t shut up, and there are an awful lot of bodies piling up.
A fun and entertaining series. This book had some editing issues but it was still a great read. I love this series and really enjoyed this book. My only issue was it wasn't long enough. Highly recommend.
The 4 books so far in this series were interesting and the stories moved along quite nicely. The h was a little naive, but she managed to hold her own. 5 stars for each - BUT editing needs to be done! Too many typos and misspelled words in each book. I almost took a star off because misspellings can be distracting. Fortunately, I understood what the author was trying to say. Get an editor!!
I took off 1 star because at one point, the heroine was too stupid to live.
A dead body is put into her pool. So her witch boss tells her to add wards to her backyard. She does not. Another dead body is put into her pool. She still does not put up wards. The last time, she is attacked in her own yard because she didn't put up the wards.
There was development with the romance in this book.
Like the first three books a good quick read with interesting character development and story. However, get a damn proofreader. Tired of noting double words, missing words, wrong word tense or meaning; in every single chapter and every book. Not just one or two but repeatedly in chapter after chapter. You’re supposed to be a professional writer. Act like it.
This series kept me engaged throughout. However, there were enough typos, oddly worded phrases, and the occasional contradiction that it continuously pulled me out of the story throughout all four books).
I'm enjoying this series so much! Some things have been a little predictable but I've still enjoyed it. The way Peg inspires love and loyalty is great given she thinks she's an introvert. Love her relationship with Deval. Can't wait for their planes to join.
I loved it,the characters were interesting and likable. The plot was engrossing and. I don't normally like vampires but even that didn't mean anythin. I couldn't put it down.
Interesting characters, series minor book plot resolved by book end, over-reaching plot fleshed out more. Minor grammatical errors. Added author to follow list to see next in series
