So much went down at the trip @ the mountains. We even got our first couple fight. It was hilarious to see the girls going husband hunting (& being successful at it).
Unfortunately, there's not really any time for Keiichiro to enjoy his summer vacation with Yuuri. Yuuri ends up working at a nearby convenience store in hopes to see him coincidentally. Keiichiro gets jealous of the male attention that Yuuri's getting so he pulls some strings to get her hired as a maid at his family's residence(s).
Yuuri tries her best to pass the promotion test so that she can continue working as a maid at the 2nd Katsuragi family's residence (instead of the 3rd one). But... Things happen. However, that one scene where Keiichiro was in Black Ops mode was the highlight of this volume.
Side note regarding the special chapter: I especially loved how Kasuga closed Yuuri's ears when Keiichiro answered Chigusa's question. Also, I can totally see Chigusa & Kasuga dating.
I’m pretty sure my prior reviews are going to set my baseline for this one, since they could easily apply here as well.
Basically, this is a really funny story and a really romantic story, but combining the two of them into one series has detracted from both. This could be two manga and it would improve them dramatically.
The problem is that the funny stuff involves dragging Yuri constantly, who ultimately turns out to fail or misinterpret or come out worse in every single situation. Even when Keiichiro is clearly wrong, like he is in the first chapter, she still ends up as the villain.
That really stings and it would be fine if the story didn’t have such a strong romantic angle. The two of them have a seriously solid chemistry that’s let down by how much time it spends mocking Yuri and leaving Keiichiro as the straight man.
The comedy is just too miserable for the end result. And the heck of it is that the comedy is really good! When Yuri decides to get a job next to where Keiichiro’s stuck all summer, this proves to be hilarious. Doubly so when the clientele and manager all turn out to be hot guys.
But she must be punished, so she gets out of that job and tries to work for her beau directly, which also provides a slew of great gags until it leads up to punching down on her for being dumb. That’s the problem, really: it won’t let Yuri have any fun.
I’ll keep up with this, it is genuinely funny in a way few manga are, plus its leads are great together when permitted, but it needs a few tweaks to be as good as it’s being written. Which is incredibly odd to say, but the only way I can explain its bizarre nature.
this was absolutely adorable. yuri boldly—and wholeheartedly—confesses her feelings to the quiet and reserved keiichiro, and from there, their dynamic becomes an absolute joy to watch. keiichiro is someone who tries to follow the rules, especially those set by his strict family, while yuri is the kind of girl who’s constantly (and charmingly) pushing against them.
at first, yuri thinks she’s the only one invested—she’s the one craving physical affection, initiating all the excitement in the relationship. but over time, keiichiro proves that he’s just as devoted. he may not be loud about it, but he consistently finds clever loopholes in the rules to show his love and fight for their relationship in his own way.
sweet, funny, and full of heart, hayaku shitai futari captures the push-and-pull of two very different people learning how to meet in the middle—and falling deeper in love as they do.
ok so here’s the thing. i liked this at first it was fun but now when you really think about it it’s always the FL who went through hell just to get an ounce of affections from ML. it’s always her who gives 1000% into the relationship meanwhile he’s doing the bare minimum. it gets so boring fast the guards are so freaking annoying the rules and law are stupid i can’t take it anymore
Another banger. I love absurdist manga, especially when it’s being complimented with a well-crafted story! Keiichi and Yuri are so compatible, it makes for hilarious situations.
I had read volume 1 earlier this year and enjoyed it. I unfortunately missed out on the galley for volume 2, so starting off at this one with episode 13 I was slightly lost. It did not take too much to cactch up though.
The teaser situation of "ending up in the same bed" only gets us through the first couple episodes, and then it is so quickly dropped. The rest of the volume focuses on summer break which turns out is not a break at all for Keiichiro. So, Yuri must find ways to make sure they cross paths over the 42 days between school semesters. It is all fairly standard rom-com hijinx.
As with the first volume, what impressed me most is the artwork. Once again, Aki Kusaka has a wonderful eye for style and textures. This is really something that I gravitate towards in the manga genre.
This story really reminds me of early 2000's k/j-dramas and while it does have some antiquated cliches (why are the females always the ones pining so hard!), it does hit me with a wave of nostalgia as I read it.
*Let’s Do it Already, Vol. 3* by Aki Kusaka feels like it’s losing steam. While the plot continues to get more over-the-top, the pacing has slowed down to the point where it’s starting to drag. The romantic connection between the characters, which once felt charming, now feels forced and less believable. That said, Kusaka’s artwork is as stunning as ever—detailed, expressive, and a real highlight of the series. It’s just a shame the story isn’t keeping up with the same energy. If you’re invested in the characters, you might still find some enjoyment, but for me, this volume didn’t quite hit the mark.
I have some issues… specifically with how Keiichiro operates.
First, with how he hijacked her class’s field trip so he and Yuri could have a mountain trip together. (I don’t care if he went through the proper channels and everyone ended up loving it anyway, it was still a selfish act that impacted more than just our main couple).
Second, with how he manipulated Yuri into a job as his family maid. (Yeah, she was dumb enough to fall for it, but he was preying on her desire to see him over the summer)
But oh, how that last part hurt. Like, I felt Yuri’s pain in my soul and almost cried. Then the comedy came back to save my makeup.
cute but maybe not for me girl cries too much maybe if dramatic sinopsis was paired up with same-dramatic- level other things then its fine like lovely complex very dramatic, but dramatic in different parts and with different characters aqui la premisa es dramatica y loquisima pero pasan los capitulos y se vuelve un shoujo normalito y bonito, pero no excepcional por decirlo de alguna forma.
Yeah not for me. So yelly and she seems to be doing all the work just waiting for the crumbs he gives her. I don't actually understand why they can't have a cute relationship while waiting to do it. I'm still not even sure why she likes him... I thought the notebook thing was really cute but this just seems like a step back.
I think the story went by pretty quickly. And I'm moving onto volume 4. I'm unsure whether this part waa from volume 3 or 4, but, gramps is kinda right. She IS clingy and passionate. In contrast, Keichii is obsessed with her. They both are honestly and it's somehow cute.
The whole summer job thing was a nonsense to me. And even tho I know he loves her, I just wish he would do more, the FL is the one bending over backards trying to find a medium point. Althou, she was kind of pushy in this arc so I hope this would get better, cause I was really liking it.
Si je m’attendais à ce que Keiichiro débarque chez Yuki en rappel ! J’ai bien ris de cette transition en tournant la page ! Mais ça montre aussi que le personnage est bien plus « désinvolte » que laisse penser le statut qu’il possède.
Ok, I don’t think I’ll be continuing with this one. I expect silt from manga, but I just am not interested in the characters enough. We shall see maybe I’ll change my mind when the next volume comes out but I won’t be purchasing unless I read it somewhere first and like where it goes.
There are moments between them that are cute but it also kind of gives me the ick to have her so desperate to get with this kid to the point of becoming a maid for his family. I get that it's for the gag of it all, but all that work for some boy?! Didn't sit right with me.
I’m actually dying I can’t fucking stand this man (he’s so amazing) the things he DOES for her??? The actions ??? The admission of feelings?????? COMBAT GEAR????
I hate how he isn't sensitive to her needs in their relationship...it's mostly about him. But it did get really cute at points. I like the series, I just want more from it.
Getting a job as a maid in his family’s residence is the only way to see her boyfriend over the summer? And even then it’s the wrong one? Nope. Not gonna continue to the next volume of this series.
