KELLY THOMPSON has a degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design. Her love of comics and superheroes have compelled her since she first discovered them as a teenager. Currently living in Portland, Oregon with her boyfriend and the two brilliant cats that run their lives, you can find Kelly all over the Internet where she is generally well liked, except where she's detested.

Kelly has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) and the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing ROGUE & GAMBIT, HAWKEYE, and PHASMA for Marvel Comics and GHOSTBUSTERS for IDW. This is a continuation of Thompson's Sabrina the Teenage Witch and in my humble opinion should have a Volume 2 behind it.

description

I really hate when things aren't labeled properly. Since Archie comics have tons of titles featuring the same character in unconnected worlds/storylines, and this isn't labeled as Volume 2, I passed on it several times thinking it was some new title.

description

Ok, so this takes off with Sabrina trying to help her old bully and (unbeknownst to him) her brother.
To complicate things further, the brother is also one of Sabrina's love interests.
As we discovered in the last volume, these two have been cursed and when the circumstances are right they become a wendigo - two kids but just ONE wendigo. And while Radka is aware of what happens to them, Ren is not.
And the origin of the curse? Well, to say that finding out who the witches that apparently did this to these kids completely tilts Sabrina's world on its axis would be an understatement.

description

The rest of the story is Sabrina dealing with magic, the mortal world, a love triangle, friendships, family, and the deeper mystery of an old evil that has infesting Greendale for a long time.
To be totally honest I wasn't actually surprised when the big reveal happened at the end, but it was still a good story.

This book was terrific. Thompson does such a great job of balancing teen angst, magic, a love triangle. a serial killer, and wendigo twins. Sabrina's exhaustion at dealing with so much as a teenager comes through the page. Really well done. I hope Archie Comics makes some more Sabrina comics with Kelly Thompson at the helm.

While a serial killer stalks Greendale by night, Sabrina tries to help Ren and Radka undo the curse that afflicts them...

The first volume of Kelly Thompson's Sabrina was great so I was all over this one when it was released.

It's great how Kelly Thompson weaves elements of classic Sabrina and her more modern incarnations into an interesting take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. There is teen angst, a love triangle, and other teenage shenanigans interspersed with witchiness. Given that I've read a fair bit of classic Sabrina, I should have known who the villain was from the start but I didn't.

The Fishs' art really sells the book for me, minimalist with some echoes of classic Sabrina but darker and more modern. The color palette is moody and subdued and light on computer effects. This looks like any number of 1990s Vertigo books at first glance.

My only real gripe is that the whole thing went by a little too quickly. I think that was also my problem with Thompson's first volume but I'm too lazy to go back and check.

Sabrina: Something Wicked is a fun read for teenagers of all ages, particularly those into witchcraft. Four out of five broomsticks.

this series continues to be adorable with just the right measure of darkness!!

the coloring and aesthetic are so damn good. i think the story in this volume is a little weaker than in the previous volume (and the villain twist is ridiculously predictable). but it's still super entertaining to watch sabrina balance high school friendships & relationships with the town's foreboding supernatural happenings.

i was really interested in the game of savoir faire that della teaches sabrina. it's like a magic tarot battle!! and it's lovely to learn more about the witchy side of things.

i'm happy that there seems to be another volume coming!

It's maybe not quite as good as the last volume, but I'm still enjoying this new iteration of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She maybe spends a little too much time in the middle isolating herself in angst and the bad guy is sort of obvious when there are so few people in the story, but I liked the developments with the side characters and the big confrontation at the end. Hope to see a follow-up soon.

Sabrina's life just keeps getting more complicated. Not only does she have two boys fighting over her, but she has a best friend she keeps neglecting, a frenemy that turns into a wendigo, aunts that keep secrets from her, and the head of the local witch coven trying to teach her advanced magic. What's a teenage witch to do?

Kelly Thompson's first Sabrina volume was pure gold, and this one's pretty close to being the same, if a little tarnished. There's SO much going on that it feels like Sabrina gets pulled in too many directions, and loses a bit of her agency as a result. The constant barrage of bad news is a bit wearing, even if it does make for good drama on both the magical and non-magical sides of things. Some of the plot points are a little contrived - I'd pegged the serial killer from the second page or so - but it's a magical teen drama, I'm not expecting it to be complicated.

Veronica and Andy Fish's artwork is still great. I wish these volumes were full sized rather than the not-quite-trades-not-quite-digests that Archie have produced them in, so that we could see the details a little more, but it's also just as good as the previous volume. The magical effects and the Savoir Faire tournaments look especially good.

Sabrina's second volume loses a little of the sparkle that made the first so good, but it's still magical enough to entice you back for more.

This rebooted version of Sabrina sits at just about the exact right place on the spectrum between the cheesy Archie-Digest version of the character and the cannibal witches from the Archie-Horror version. The writing is fun, but it's Kelly Thompson so no surprise there. Special shoutout to Veronica and Andy Fish on the art. The colors, in particular, oscillate perfectly between muted and vibrant in a way that really makes the magic pop off the page.

It's fun, it's free to Comixology Unlimited subscribers, there's no reason not to read it!

The story is what you would expect-fun and not too deep. The art style is good. The colouring is OMG amazing. Truly beautiful and a real standout!

Same great characters and art style as the first volume, but the choice of colour palette was a little dull in comparison.

A solid Sabrina tale like its predecessor, though some of the magic has worn off since Something Wicked is a bit more of the same instead of a deeper exploration of the world. Sabrina helps her foe and love interest (who are brother/sister) deal with a cruse while an obvious serial killer stalks the town. The art continues to be great and the high school character interactions feel heightened in a pleasantly Archie way. Would read another Sabrina outing if one were to ever arrive.

★★★★✩: liked a lot with some minor issues

The sequel did not disappoint! Obsessed with the vibrant, neon color palette, it worked really well with the witchy vibes going on. I loved the new elements introduced, the secret witch chamber, the card game, etc. The plot was definitely a bit cliche but this is a retelling so it's not exactly a problem for me, great execution regardless.

Sabrina as a witch, I absolutely stan, but her as a gf... The love triangle still annoyed the heck out of me and Sabrina really has to figure her shit out. This girl really said The One Line I hate with ever cell in my body- "I have feelings for you, but also for him", stop, just quit it and get your shit tgt Sabrina! Jessa was honestly too good for Sabrina LOL.

He swore!! 🤣 ah that was the best this gave me so much serotonin I hope there's more to come. goodreads says number 10 was the last one but I seriously hope not, there's so much left undone. I NEED MORE

This was fine. I enjoy the story and love the art, but by the time the next volume comes out I am 100% sure that I will have forgotten everything. I like Sabrina and her story, but I don't feel like there was anything in this that was overly memorable. (Except the love triangle. I am here for that, even if Sabrina and Harvey should be endgame.)

This was such a fun read! I loved the writing style and I loved the wrap up this gave to the adventure from the previous book. Although the story was a little predictable this time around, I still really enjoyed this one.

I also liked how this book ended. With the introduction of Ambrose and setting up Sabrina’s next adventure at the Academy, I definitely can’t wait to see what happens next.

What I liked:
🔹The beautiful and colorful art style
🔹The intriguing storyline
🔹The introduction to new story elements, such as the magical card game

I wanted quick easy comics to finish up my 2021 and even out my reading wrapup square on Instagram. I've been waiting for this series to come out in a second volume and it's finally available. This new iteration of Sabrina has a great color scheme and fun humor in contrast to the Chilling Adventures done in darker tones and themes. This volume picks up right after the first book with Sabrina stuck in love triangle between Harvey and Ren. Good luck, girl, because I like them both. This was nice and fun where I'm looking forward to the next volume. We got a brief glimpse of Cousin Ambrose and who knows what he'll bring to the Spellman household. Something magical is coming to Greendale!

I love the illustrations but I found the story to be a bit dull and the ending was “solved” too soon.

I love Sabrina, especially her version in this comic. The story is compelling and the art is truly bewitching! The colours are magical. I hope the series will continue although I can‘t seem to find any updates on that:/ This one was released in 2021 so maybe there‘s hope.
