Wow, Patricia Johns never disappoints. I love how she shows how strong Amish woman are, they are just not some docile wife following orders, they have a mind and they use it. These books remind me of growing up for some reason, I guess it's because mom was home, she babysat and so there was always kids around, we ate home cooked meals and played outside during the summer and even in winter. This book shows how strong love is and how important it is to be honest with the person you love so they know how you feel. 5 stars, wish I could give more! I highly recommend this and all her books! Well done!

Wife on His Doorstep is one of the few Amish stories I have read with at least one atypical Amish character.

Miriam Lapp is extraordinarily good with accounting and numbers. Her dad, a successful Amish businessman, taught her managerial skills. Although Miriam is a decent cook, she believes her calling is not to be a housewife like the other Amish women.

After ten years of separation, Miriam visits her estranged husband Amos, and is freshly reminded why she would not make a good wife to him.

Despite her being unyielding and goal-oriented (rather than people oriented), I liked Miriam. I do believe 13 chapters was not long enough to truly unpack her character. I felt that a lot of her story was a condensed version, and there was so much more to her than the space allowed.

The story does have a happy ending, though, -- a compromise both Miriam and Amos have a chance to work on. "Marriage is like any skill -- like canning or quilting or gardening. It takes time to learn."

Patricia Johns writes a good story, but I am bugged by the little details. Amish speak Pennsylvania Deutsh, which is a German dialect, not Dutch. She needs to research a little more before her next book.

Loved this story

Very different plot. And one that could have fallen apart but it didn't. And a HEA ending. I highly recommend.

A beautiful story to show us how differences among each other can be beneficial when accepted. We all have a vision of how we think life should be but God already knows our complete story and we should trust him. Accepting others for who they are is the way to show love. Embrace their differences.

Miriam and Amos have been married for ten years but have lived apart almost the entire time. Miriam must come home to her husband to find paperwork to prove her inheritance. While home Amos’ grandmother (Mammi) asks Miriam to stay and help her during her last few weeks of living. Miriam agrees but also sees Mammi has another agenda, to reunite Miriam and Amos.

Another enjoyable read from @authorpatjohns in her Redemption series. All can be read as a standalone.

I read the first in this series and it spurred me on to read this one. It did not disappoint! It is a stand alone but it’s fun to read them in order. I will say that Miriam drove me crazy. So much pride. I don’t care if you’re Amish or English or whatever. This is a very bad attitude for a woman to have in any marriage. If you’re younger, you won’t agree, but if you’re a woman that has had her own business and career, and you are still married, then my advice is that only happens when you bend and grow. I think Miriam and Amos finally realize this. But it takes a lot of prayer and a very special grandmother to make the load lighter with her love and prayers and wisdom.

Wife on His Doorstep by Patricia Johns is book 3 in the Redemption’s Amish Legacies Series
I really enjoyed this book and series and this last book was my favorite because it reminds me that it’s ok to be yourself and strive to reach outside the box of what is considered the norm, and yet still have all the things you will have within that quote norm.
Life throws us many curves and this author created characters and a story line that will move you. I really recommend this book and series.

This story had me in tears more than once.

Ten years ago, Amos Lapp's wife left him. He's had a good life, even raised two foster sons on his own, but there has always been a hole in his heart where Miriam should be. When she shows up on his doorstep - not wanting to reconcile, but wanting ownership papers for a strip mall that was their wedding gift from her father - he is hurt once again. He is stunned, though, when she agrees to stay to help his dying grandmother who only has weeks to live.

Miriam Lapp left her husband less than a year into their marriage. She has spent the last 10 years learning the business empire that her father controlled, only to have him leave everything - every business, every property - to her brother. She wants to prove her worth in the business world, since she failed so spectacularly as a wife. Seeing Amos again is the only way to regain her self-respect by taking possession of the one business her father didn't leave to her brother. When Amos' grandmother asks her to be her end-of-life caregiver, she can't say no. Will living in the same house as her husband show her that maybe they were both wrong about each other, and maybe there is the smallest chance that the feelings that brought them together in the first place are still there?

Amish don't do divorce, ever. Marriage is one man, one woman, 'til death parts them. No exceptions. So, when Miriam left Amos, she doomed them both to aloneness. Her fear of dying in childbirth and her desire to turn her mind to helping his business, had them fighting nearly constantly. This story is the 3rd in a series, and was by far the most emotional read of the three. I definitely recommend.

A perfect family story

This story reminded me of the importance of family, the seriousness of a lifelong commitment and the love f God in our everyday lives. I also enjoyed the fact that this was not just a typical Roman e story. There was way more depth in what really goes on in May families. It was refreshing to have an author write such realistic story of true life.

WIFE ON HUS DOORSTEPS

I had trouble getting into this book, and I cannot put my finger on it as to why. I didn't like the part of an amish wife being so business oriented. Without me giving the book away, I just didn't see it as a true amish love story, even though the ending was ok. JO

Wife on His Doorstep

The third book in this series, it was good to hear how Amos’s situation was resolved. The author does a good job bringing life to the characters and presenting events and emotions that touch the heart of the reader.

Such a blessing!

The book was a blessing for me because it reminded me that even when people and their decisions let me down that I serve a God, a father, who provides , protects, and loves his children.

She waved at people who were taking her photo?! Since when do the Amish like having their photo taken?! The constant bickering was too much.

Wife on His Doorsyep is a heartwarming story written by Patricia John's in her Redemptions Amish Legacy series. This is the third book on this series and I recommend them all. This story has an unusual storyline and really pulled me in. I enjoyed getting to know Miriam and Amos' story. Amos is a hardworking Amish man who only wants to grow his carpentry shop his way but when his estranged wife shows up on his doorsyep unannounced things may take a different path. Mammi has just received word that she is very ill and only had a few weeks left and insist that Miriam stay at home with her husband to help care for her and the house. Amos doesn't know what will happen since they have. Been separated for ten years but will do anything for his precious Mammi. Can Miriam and Amos' set aside their differences for the sake of giving Mammi a special passing? This story really had me praying for all involved. This story is filled with heartbreak, love, forgiveness, and family.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. I look forward to more amazing stories from this author.
