He’d do anything to step out of the friend-zone and prove to the girl of his dreams that he’s her ideal match. Too bad such a guy only seems to exist in between the pages of her swoony romances. Lana Coleman is convinced that the perfect guy for her is out there… somewhere. Connor, her attractive, yet often annoying best friend, teases her non-stop about her quest for her heart palpitating soul-mate, even going as far as challenging her to find someone who meets ALL her requirements before her birthday. She’s determined to prove to him that such a feat is possible. Not even a series of run-ins with the strangest men she’s ever met could make her rethink her book boyfriend ideals. Could they? She knows she’ll never settle, but is she ready to be alone forever?
Connor has his own quest. Prove to Lana that there’s more to their relationship than just friendship. If it takes a ridiculous challenge and a slew of odd ducks to help her see him in a new light, then so be it. Only his plan backfires epically. Now Connor must decide if admitting the truth of his scheming and his feelings for her will win her heart or cause him to lose her forever.
Snuggle in tight with a sweet romantic comedy full of laugh-out-loud moments, quirky characters, and swoony kisses that will have you sighing for all the right reasons.
Kandice Geddes was born and raised beside the red hills of St. George, Utah. She discovered her love of writing as a small child and began creating stories about mermaids falling for dashing princes. Thank you, Disney. And it only continued from there.
She graduated from Southern Utah University with a track scholarship in Elementary Education and taught 1st Grade for four years.
While living in northern Colorado, she rediscovered her love of writing, especially within the world of sweet romance, and has been pursuing it ever since.
Some of her other loves are: reading, drawing, sugar cookies, watching Disney movies (shocker I know), and spending time with her swoony husband and two highly spirited boys.
What the heck. Giving this 5 stars for how freaking cute it was.
I’m a sucker for friends-to-lovers. And I’m even a bigger sucker for guy-falls-first. And boy did Connor fall first and fall hard for Lana.
Summary:
Lana and Connor are childhood best friends. Connor has been in love with her for over a decade and she has no clue. She thinks he’s just overly flirty/silly/teasing with her and talks herself out of believing he has feelings for her for real. Not to mention- Lana has a lot of dad issues/abandonment issues that come into play.
Lana is convinced that the perfect book boyfriend exists and even has a long list of what the perfect guy would be.
Connor challenges Lana to find her perfect book boyfriend before her birthday and offers to see her up with dates to prove that no guy will meet her ridiculous standards while also hoping Lana will finally realize Connor is the guy for her- imperfections and all.
My thoughts:
There were some absolutely ridiculous parts in this book. Like butterfly kisses..... what in the actual world.......Also the bouncy bed....not even sure how this is earthly possible....
But Connor’s pursuit of Lana was the sweetest thing in the WORLD. and I honestly loved this book so much, even with Lana being a fool for most of it. So so cute.
I read this as part of a March Madness RomCom bracket challenge. I probably wouldn't have finished it otherwise.
This book was quite cliche with too many weird elements that really didn't help the story all that much: the college bowl (including winning it), Drago the supposed vampire, the regency date night, the bouncy bed, and the Star Wars references, just to name a few. But the really weird concept for me was the butterfly kisses. Eyelashes giving "kisses"? What does that even mean? Strange.
If you like clean, slow burn romances that are equal parts adorable and swoony, I absolutely recommend this book! Connor is a perfect book boyfriend and reading about them falling in love is worth the time.
I felt bad for Conner for most of the book. I didn't understand Lana and Conner's friendship. It seemed like Lana just took constantly and Conner was a love sick door mat. When things finally got worked out and I srarted enjoying it, the book ended. I didn't feel like there was very good character development. It was just the inner thoughts between the 2 main characters. It got old after a while.
I enjoyed this book. I only gave 4 stars because of one big disappointment. Spoiler alert. So Lana who was 22 had never been kissed. She had saved that first kiss for someone special. It ended up being stolen by a jerk. She even asks will this forever be her memory of her first kiss. You can't get a first kiss back. Very disappointed with that.
This book made real life hard to get to because it was difficult to put the story down. Lane and Connor were so fun to get to know and about their love story. I was so excited to see the roommates have their own stories to tell.
Although it was a little sappy, this book had it all! A swoon-worthy hero and plenty of almost kisses. I couldn't wait for Lana to realize she was in love with Conner. But the realization came with plenty of it's own conflicts.
Very sweet young adult romance. Connor and Lana have been firm friends since childhood. Everyone else can see they are perfect for each other, but Connor has to go slow, as Lana is afraid that he will leave her as her father did.
This is a best friends to more trope. These types of stories always make me squirm with all the self-sabotage that happens plus all the schemes from one party to try and win over the other. The end is satisfying because of the resolution of so much tension. This story was sweet and clean, and reminded me a little of my college days at BYUI.
