I received a gifted copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via the author.

Chill out and Cheer up is a ten step guide to practice self-care , take care of our mental health and put more positive thinking into our lives.
With technology and social media a huge part of everyday lives, we often don't practice much self care and strive to have more or have better than we have and lose appreciation in what we have and the little things in our lives we should cherish and enjoy more.
This book is a great reminder and guide in taking time out and recognising what is important and putting ourselves first at times and reminds is that this is not selfish or something to feel guilty about.
I lived how this book was simple to follow and understand but also gave lots of great advice. I felt like I'd spoken with a friend and was being given some great advice and support and not being looked down on.

This year I have been picking up more self-help books than any other year. Mental health and self-care have become very important to me. And this one, I must say, is one of my favorites out of them all so far. It isn't just another self-help book but it's also inspirational and actually has a lot of tips that I found super helpful.

My favorite thing about this book was the way it was written in such an authentic and honest way. The author was very open with her mental health struggles which I really appreciated because we share some of the same struggles. She wasn't just naming the ten steps to a happier life. No, it was like she was really talking to the reader and I really loved that.

The ten steps of this guide include the topics of pressure, positive thinking, doubt, fear, greed, little things, nature, connection, solitude and learn to love yourself. All the chapters have been very useful to me but I've got so say that my favorites were positive thinking, fear, nature and solitude. I really found a lot of helpful things in them and they are very applicable too even.

This is a book that also goes into social media a lot, which I really liked because I definitely share her opinions on it. We all really need to unplug more and enjoy nature, our family, our friends, even pets more without the need to share or make it seem how great our lives are because a lot of the times we only show the good and never the bad.

Overall, Chill Out and Cheer Up: A Ten-Step Guide by Grace Grossmann is an inspiring, expressive and full of ways and tips to a happier and healthier life. I really enjoyed it and I'm sure other reader will find it helpful and valuable as well. I would highly recommend it!

This book talks extensively about mental health and how self care and positive thinking can help in its improvement. It is a ten step guide to achieve peace internally. A lot of people think of self care as selfishness and being unproductive but it is of as much importance as working in an office or studying, and this book explains this well. I found the tips well thought.

The author mentions about her own struggle with mental health and gives example for how these ten steps helped her feel better. These tips are from her personal experiences, making the guide authentic. The language used is simple and easy to understand. Recommended for beginners.

Chill Out and Cheer Up is the perfect book to start the year right. Just that title alone, take the first letter of each word and what do you have? COACH. That’s right, your very own portable wellness coach.

I’m generally skeptic of anything “self care” as I feel I’m already a positive and happy person overall - I’ve had bouts of anxiety like everyone, but I think I’ve got it figured out.

Yet, reading COACH made me realise that the things I turn to once in a while to feel good; a walk in the park, a soothing bath, reaching out to a friend, etc. I can choose to practice on a regular basis, for a clearer and healthier mind long term.

Through ten themes and modern day challenges, Grace Grossmann offers tips and small exercices to take a step back, learn to better understand and accept yourself.

Thank you to the author for the gifted copy.

Chill out and Cheer up
By Grace Grossmann

As the name suggests this book is all about “to be” yourself . This pandemic is getting on nerves to some of the people, reading this book will ease your anxiety.
Grace being very honest writes that even she has been diagnosed with depression, (yes you heard it right). She makes you feel that we all are on the same journey when it comes to dealing with life.

The book talks on a wide array of topics for instance - Pressure, positive thinking, greed , nature, etc. Each chapter explains her approach towards that issue and how to identify them if you are suffering. Book emphasises specifically how consumerism has changed us and our society as whole.

My favourite chapter was definitely about Nature, she explains how nature can be helpful to attain peace and clarity in life.

If you are looking for a feel good book and something to calm you then this can be considered(it’s beginner friendly as well).
This will help you - “TO BE” yourself but I would recommend it to beginners only.

It's very rare that I pick up a non fiction book, but when I do I make sure it is something that helps me, doesn't sound preachy and guides me. Grace in the book ( having heard my silent thoughts) says, "I'm not here to preach, but to guide".

The book is a ten Step Guide to find yourself and to make sure you're not lost in this vast universe. Grace lost her best friend at the age of 21 and in a way she has dedicated this book to him. Having suffered from depression and schizophrenia, this doesn't sound like another preachy book, but a personal progress. It feels as if a friend is talking to me through the book.

At every point I made sure, I noted down the suggestions that Grace mentions and mold them in my own ways because to each their own.
Grace talks about Pressure, Positive thinking, Doubt, Fear, Greed, Little Things, Nature, Connection, Solitude and Self Love. I don't think anything has been left out in this book. From meditation, to enjoying your own company, to surrendering yourself to nature, to build habits that make you happy, this book is power packed with so much positivity and energy.
The title and the cover itself radiate so much positivity.

That being said, the Book cannot in any way be finished in one sitting. It requires contemplation, deep thinking, self retrospection and wandering into the pool of self learning.
Grace has not thrusted her thoughts and suggestions at the readers face but she made sure they understood what she wants to deliver. She wants everybody to think for themselves, giving themselves the time that technology and doubt is robbing us off.

All in all this book will help you in ways you cannot imagine. If you're someone who's struggling with anxiety, self doubt, fears pick this book up and it won't disappoint you.

Today’s society is making us have a monotonous and anxious life in which we forget to take care of our mental health. Social media and consumerism dictate our daily routine and emphasize our uneasiness making us believe that we always need more to be happy. And yet, we get into a vicious circle in which we are never fully satisfied.

Step by step, the author guides us by tackling themes like stress, positive thinking, doubt or solitude. Every chapter describes one of them and explains why we feel that way, and how to prevent them from ruining our lives – such as spending time away from screens and enjoy the little things life has to offer.

To be happy with our own body and mind, we need to concentrate more on ourselves and less about what other people think of us. We only have one life and we should make the most of it, do what makes us happy. It is okay to be a bit selfish sometimes and take time to take care of our mental health

It is an easy read because the author uses examples from our daily life which facilitates our understanding. She helps us bring positivity in our lives by giving advice but also by sharing her own experiences – which I really liked because it made me feel that she really wants to help us and not judge us.

.
The book talks about how social media has become the enemy of our peace and how society's judgments can crash us.

Unike any other self help book, chill out and cheer up is more like a journey of setting yourself free from all the toxicity, society's judgments, fear, greed and depression.
.
The author takes us to her journey when she was facing depression and she dealt with it and came out stronger and happier than ever.
.
The book will teach you to embrace your own company and spent time with mother nature. The author suggests some of the great ways to kick out depression, greed and fear from our life.
.
Often we take so much pressure about what people would say about us rather than thinking what we actually want. This book will tell you how to ignore the bullshit of others and adopt yourself the way you are.
.
The writing style of the author is quite good and the language is also good to go with even for beginners.

Loved it! A book to treasure

It's an amazing book that you will surely enjoy. The author discusses each topic in-depth with many examples and exercises that we must do. The candid and interesting writing style of the author with crisp narration keeps the readers invested in.

It felt like the author was dropping bombs of facts and thoughts we have and giving us a solution. There are so many things to learn from this book. Not to forget the cute drawings in each topic that conveyed a message.

Read it a bit slow, enjoy this journey of discovering the truths of life and how we can make our life better.

Thank you @graceygrossmann for the free e copy in return for my review.

There are very few self help books that I read. And #chilloutandcheerup is one among them. Not only does the author speak straight from the heart, but has written in an amazing way. It’s her writing style that made me read her book. Also, the sketches at the start of each chapter are genuine and convey a message.

In the already busy world where we are facing a pandemic crisis, this book will come in handy which will speak straight from the heart with its reader. Each chapter deals with according to me was an emotion attached with each of us and what we face as humans.

Refresh yourself on how to be more aware and accepting of who you are.

Chill out and Cheer Up is an insight read that is filled with tips on how to now allow the world around you to pressure and overwhelm your life.

Grossmann provides a 10 step guide to get a better perception that happiness and joy come from within and not what is all around you.

Throughout the book are action steps and questions as Grossmann encourages you to write down thoughts, notes, and answers in which they are specific to each chapter.

I personally enjoyed her way of providing tips, in-depth thoughts and explained on each of the topics.

Like my opinion on most other self-help books, the points discussed could have been more brief and to the point. Some things discuss are nothing drastically new, but it's always nice to read someone else's views. But that is just my thoughts and shouldn't sway you away from this book.

Just a side note, I wasn't a fan of how the book as printed. At times, the printed format was hard to follow and challenging to read.

I received a copy of the book from Grace and she had asked for my honest review.

1-minute review: *The author sent me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review* Chill Out and Cheer Up was a breath of fresh air in the self help world. As I’ve mentioned before, I have been feeling lately that the self help books I have read have been good but didn’t necessarily offer anything I didn’t already know. In some ways, Chill Out and Cheer Up was also simplistic and catered towards people who are just beginning their self improvement journey, but I really appreciated some of the more practical suggestions in the book which included some thought provoking prompts and questions that had me really thinking more deeply about some of the things in my life. Though it is a little unpolished and in need of some editing, I am happy to recommend this book to those that want a little bit of hand holding and compassion as they begin their self improvement journey.

Love yourself. That's the most important learning from this book. Pressure, Anxiety, Depression, feeling low, everything can be conquered if we learn to love ourselves.

This is a kind of book where you can open any chapter and start reading and you will find something that will help you. The whole book is a guide on how to manage stress, not to fall into the trap of all good things shown in social media, learn to take criticism well and at the end of the day just feel good about yourself and love yourself. It also speaks about connecting with mother nature. To just feel nature, sun rays, breeze, walk-in park anything that will help us connect with nature which in will help us connect with ourself.

Grace also emphasizes the importance of making a to-do list. Writing down what we love about ourselves and hate about ourselves is a good start even though sometimes the latter outweighs the former. She believes writing lists allow us to reflect and reflection is one of the key ingredients in the concoction of coming to love yourself.

I will not say that only people who are feeling low, or stressed out, or disheartened should read this book. This book is meant for everyone. It works as a good reminder for every one of us. However I did find this book quite lengthy and repetitive, hence I felt my mind wandering many times. It felt more like recitation and I found myself losing interest. A better edit could have probably helped this book.

Having said that, I think the best way you can read this book is at a slow pace. Probably chapter by chapter so that you stay with it and incorporate the message which it wants to convey.

‘You are more than good enough, believe it, be it, live it.’

Chill out and cheer up
I’m always eager to read something which can help my mental health. Mental health and well-being is so important.
And this book is like a tall refreshing glass of water. When you eat healthy it’s good for the body and when you read books like this it’s good for the mind.
As I got started with the book I found it fascinating to read about societal and internalized pressure.
Of course something like pressure is a double edged sword and can be good and bad.
And as the book goes on it presents many examples of challenges we face and how we can deal with them. I’ve only highlighted this first key example of pressure or else my review would be too long.
I will point out how approachable the author makes all these concepts. This makes the book easy to read and easy to share ideas from the book with others.
I was doing a lot of highlighting and making notes for myself. I think this will help a lot of people. And it will help people to become the best possible versions of themselves!

True to its name, this book helped me 'chill out' and 'cheered me up'.
📝
The narrative was bit casual and felt more like listening to a motivational talk. What I really liked about the book was that it gave more importance to being happy, enjoy little things in life and self acceptance than simply chasing the set standards of the society of being happy and successful.
📝
It talks about the importance of mental health and further talks about external factors such as capitalism and social media which affects it by making us always wanting for more and never be satisfied with what we have leading to greed and negativity.
📝
Even though the book covered a wide range of topics and discussed them along with instances from her own life, I felt that the views presented were little one sided and more logical arguments (by weighing both pros and cons) would have added to the depth.

If you are looking for a thrust of positivity in life, go for this book.

Before I review this book, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Grace for kindly sending me a copy of her book ‘Chill Out & Cheer Up’ to read & review.

I absolutely loved this book & have learnt & taken so much away from it. Grave covers many topics in so much depth, including pressure, doubt, fear, solitude & my favourite chapter, Nature.

I found this book so inspiring & relatable. It made me think & self-reflect whilst reading it, allowing me to learn more about myself.

Grace writes with so much honesty, humour & quirkiness, a combination which works beautifully with the topics covered in this book.

Thank you so much again lovely! Good luck with your future writing 💛

This book was such a joy to read! It’s very uplifting, motivating and informative without being “preachy”. Grace writes in a way that feels like a conversation with a friend. In a time where people have become disconnected over the past (almost) 2 years, we all need a little reassurance and nudging to find our (better) selves again. My book is all marked up and tabbed as I will be visiting it again!

Where some advice books come off as academic and prescriptive, this one speaks to me like a close friend, a life coach who is rooting for you.

I find the mini exercises - like the 5W framework analyze pressure - helpful. From cooking to social media to connecting, Grossman gives us tidbits of wisdom to navigate our modern world.

I learned about the little habits that inject negative energy into our lives and how to turn it around through small things day to day. If you’re going through a rough patch in life, this book will give you a jolt of positivity.

This book provides the readers with guidance to a happier life. It explains every little problems that has caused us to live a life so monotonous. Every Chapter is contained with advices and quotes that will always be a part of your life. The Author takes us on her day to day life and how the pressure by society has affected our habits and thoughts. Things like Pressure, Doubt, Fear, Negative Thoughts distracts us from shifting into a new Mindset.

Society has brainwashed us to live a life in a certain method. How most of our decisions are affected by what other people think. In this fast paced generation we follow what is "trendy" rather than doing something at our own pace and to our liking. Accepting our Flaws and Failures are the only way we can break this chain of seeking validation from others and find our way to our Happiness.

Who doesn't want a Happy Life? As easy as it sounds the harder it is to Achieve. In this busy world we have forgotten what genuine happiness feels like. We keep looking for Happiness in places which are not meant to stay forever. This book is something that you keep seeking in times of sadness. It is the reassurance you get after a hard day.

This book is worth reading not only once but countless of times. There are answers and advices to things that many have wondered about. Every chapter is relatable and makes you realize how everybody is almost going through the same things. If you are tired of living the same monotonous life grab one for yourself and get ready to make changes.

Chill out and Cheer up was one of the books which were appreciated highly across Bookstagram. Most self-help books come with a similar message, ‘Love yourself, live well’ in one way or other. This was too, but it is miles ahead of any other self-help book I have read. There is one sentence at the start of the book, ‘This is a book to guide you into becoming more aware and accepting of who you are and how you feel.’ Grace didn’t disappoint me amongst those pages.

Uniqueness:
Self-help books are either a hit or a miss; there is no in-between. Chill out and Cheer up started very similar to many books in its genre, but the issues it addressed varied hugely. It touched all the essential things we genuinely need to consider to live a peaceful life. In fact, I would say that this book should be a must-read for the digital generation before stepping into Social Media.

Predictability:
After the first few pages of the book, it started with its first turn and didn’t stop there. Grace walked the untaken roads, the topics everyone shies away about in this book. This was an honest book of our real lows, the ugly secrets we all bury, hide and suffer. Even after midway through the book, when we think, ‘So what else could be new, we pretty much get the idea,’ the book takes a turn at the corner with a new surprise.

Writing style:
Grace spoke about “‘Spaziergang’ - a leisurely walk” in this book, and that was how ‘Chill out and cheer up’ felt to read. It felt like a stream flowing in the land smoothly with new surprises and forming a river that will mix with the ocean eventually.

Cost worth:
There are books we read just once and never look back (We all know what those are), and then there are others we would always look back to. This book was undoubtedly a masterpiece that can constantly be revisited in our low points. For that, we can pay that extra price for the paperback. However, the kindle version is just 184 rupees. The book is also available on Kindle unlimited.

Entertainment:
The book, in general, was simple, honest, and direct. There were many thought-provoking lines, and this is a book that we would keep reminiscing long after we put it down. There were few elements where it felt repetitive. Still, it never got to the point that our inner voice would say, ‘Yeah fine, yadda yadda yadda, you already spoke about this, can we move on now? ‘

Verdict:
In the initial pages, Grace said, ‘Life is a constant Catch 22 effect,’ but the book provokes us to undo the pressure we constantly carry on our shoulders due to the Catch 22 effect. It is a roller coaster ride a reader usually doesn’t expect to take with a self-help book. But Grace clearly took the effort to make the journey worth every second we spend on it.

This book is a must-read if you like ‘The Alchemist’

Well Written And Articulated By Grace Grossmann! It started of setting a very powerful scene and I like that Grace uses her own personal stories. I then found the content to be intriguing but once I got to the middle of the book, that’s what changed it for me. If you want to be inspired to make positive changes in your life this is the book for you.!

❤️Oh My God!
This is the first book that made me speechless, I really don't know from where i should start, Its really difficult to sum up this book in some words or paragraphs.

❤️This is not just a book, its a guide to lead a happy yet beautiful life. Nowadays, we question what leading a happy life entails, how to be satisfied. We end up wasting our energy away, looking for happiness and not living it the right way. What even is the right way? That's the most difficult question for everyone of us.
I always feel that everything wrong happens with me only and everyone else is happy with their life, I always question to God, Why me?
But the truth is, we never know what someone else is going through.

❤️Just look at this book, this is a book guiding us to be happy, to stay positive even in worst circumstances. But can you imagine, this book is written by someone who has been diagnosed with onset schizophrenia and
depression?
If Grace, the author of this book can write a book full of positivity even after suffering a lot with depression and negative stuff, then believe me, we all can do anything, we just need a right direction and lot of positivity. Grace is trying to say that, you are not alone in this process, through this book, she is trying
to inject our life with hope again.

❤️There are so many important topics in this book but the one which will remain in my heart and mind forever is "Learn to love yourself"
Overall this is a book to guide you into becoming more aware
and accepting of who you are and how you feel. It's a
book for mental hygiene. This is one such book that gave me a new life.
After finishing this book, i felt relaxed, happy and and positive. I am glad i came across this beautiful self help book, i felt like someone who knows everything about what's going in my life suddenly came out of nowhere to help me restart my life.
I really want to thank you for this wonderful piece of work which is definitely inspiring so many people who are unhappy and depressed.
