Well, I can honestly say that this series went out with a bang.
It has been a long journey from the very first book when we met Reid Lawson (aka Agent Zero, Zero, and a couple of other alias that I can not remember at this moment). At the time, Reid was a boring professor with a very normal life, raising two female teenagers. And then his world exploded.....
Since then, it has been a crazy and challenging few years. Not only for Zero, but for his daughters, his friends, and pretty much anyone in his personal circle. I can't even remember the number of times that he (sometimes almost single handedly, sometimes with the help of a LOT of people) but either way, he helped to save the world... MANY. MANY. TIMES.
This book brings us full circle. The girls are grown up (or at least they are extremely capable and independent with a level of maturity beyond their ages) and the story arc has finally come to an end. It was an end of an era and I will admit to just a little bit of moisture in my eyes....
Thank you Jack Mars for a wonderful series where we got to know and love a family that even though they definitely had their share of issues, the cement that held them together was love. Yes, the girls were forced to grow up before their time, but they also learned to handle and defend themselves and each became self reliant. Mischa was an unusual addition to the family that I wasn't sure about at the time. But, by the end of everything, she WAS truly part of the family. And Alan....what a true friend. That man gave and gave and without him and his help, things might have turned out MUCH much different for the entire crew.
I listened to most of these books on audio - or at least I alternated between listening and reading. The narrator - Brian Callanan - narrated the last several books and to me, he became the voice of the series. While a part of me is sad for the ending of this series, it was time. That's not to say that I wouldn't be interested in any spin offs from this world, but Zero's body could only take so much.
Saving the world is not easy.....
