TatiAnna Tibbitts grew up as part of a large family in Southern California. When she was five years old, she wrote and illustrated her first book, which her older brothers made fun of. Despite this early literary criticism, TatiAnna enjoys reading and writing fantasy and romance, and still likes drawing dragons.
Her first published book, Ink Adept, is available for purchase on Kindle Direct Publishing as both a paperback and on Kindle.
A deeply woven world of magic where magic users are known as Adepts. Those who can wield the magic of glyphs, or written magic are known as Ink Adepts. This story is exceptionally unqiue in that the world is not the traditional European fantasy realm we think of with traditional fantasy tales. This one beautifully weaves many Asian cultures together making a diverse world that will appeal to many. The author did an excellent job with the world building. The book follows Munayair and her friend Anjita as they train and study magic. The first part of the book dives into the world of their schooling and education, giving us a peek inside the rich culture. It also allows us to get a sense of the girl's personality. Munayair is clever, giving us a taste of her wit and intelligence right on the first few places during a battle with her chelka, which is a type of elemental golem that she can control through written symbols. But once the girls leave the school the world is a lot bigger and darker than they ever imagined. Without giving away any spoilers, the bigger world may look like a glorious place to be explored but the mystery they uncover puts everyone at risk and Munayair must save the day. It is a new take on the typical "chosen one" tale. It was really fantastic to see a world with diverse races and ethnicities instead of the typical whitewashed cast of characters. It was quite long and the world building is highly intricate and involved. Don't sit down and think this will be one you can read in a weekend. Be ready to dedicate some time to this one, especially if you want to truly appreciate the depth of world building and follow all the terms and names created in this expansive tale.
