What tragedy could cause two people so dedicated to each other to lose each other so completely? Rana, the quirky, spunky, sometimes annoying trade master for the Andran Company, Charters and Tours, came to them straight out of the painful and tragic loss of her fourth pregnancy through miscarriage. We know she left behind a woman she loved and a pain she couldn't live with. Desperate tells us the how and the why. This free prequel is meant to be read before Ports of Surset, Book Port City. Book Two will be available on January 7, 2021 on Amazon. TRIGGER WARNING! Ubriel Bryne is a pen name of Amy Norton.
Amy Norton has been a professional legal code editor since 2015. She writes under her own name as well as Ubriel Bryne and Jami Lee Montgomery and publishes all three under www.UbrielBryneBooks.com.
Amy lives in the tropical hell that is the panhandle of North Florida with Zacharyn Norton, two loud-mouthed dogs, and two cats, one lanky, the other a chunk. When she isn’t braving the wild waters of her local area in her kayak, crossing swords with mosquitoes and competing in water acrobatics against colossal alligators, she is hiking and camping or taking road trips to hike and camp in new and less nightmarish climates.
Ubriel Bryne’s writing is sometimes whimsical and sometimes flippant but always full of creative imagery. She has been writing for two decades and released a few shorter works here and there. Her debut novel series, The Ports of Surset, was released in 2020.
Her new dark urban fantasy series, Starling Nightcastle, is due to begin January 7, 2023.

Excellent insight to Rana, but a very sad story

Although Rana and Mallory share in the collapse of their relationship, I have a hard time liking Mallory. There is a problem when the dream means more than the person who shared the dream. I'm not sure how much of this disaster can be blamed on the restrictions the Order placed on Surset's interactions with the Port Cities. Too much medical knowledge is being kept from the Sursetis. I highly recommend this series.
