this gets a little ranty.
The world building didn't improve in this book at all. I'm still so confused half the time. There will be a character mentioned in one chapter and in the next chapter(not even 2 pages later) when discussing the previous scene a different character's name is used instead.
There are closed door love scenes or well....I think there are? The FL mentions making love, but then only says they kissed later on. I'm so lost on what level of intimacy she's had with the guys. There is so little character and world building that it's like the people are just floating through the story. Everything is so freaking vague and nonsensical that by the time the next one comes out(in about a month) I would have forgotten everything that happened in this one.
Even in the very last chapter...she's running away in human form with one of the MLs while two people are in dragon form carrying two people each. There are 8 characters total. So if you're keeping track that means 6 people definitely in the air. There is no mention of how she and the other ML in human form get away. Are they on the backs of the dragons? Did she transform into her dragon and pick the ML up? Are they just going to runaway on foot the whole way? I don't know, because IT'S NEVER MENTIONED IN THE TEXT!
Also the humans having as much control as they do makes no sense what so ever. Also also, the shifters unshift with lack of concentration, but it's never explained why shifters in their late teens early 20s are struggle bussing but other shifters can shift at a young age perfectly fine.
It's just weak characters, weak character development, and weak world building.
Please for the love of books proof read it before publishing. I don't care about spelling/grammar mistakes in self published things, but to have multiple instances where you use one character's name when you mean another within pages of each other...no no no not okay.

This book has Millie (Boots) and everyone from the Academy traveling to the U.S. Academy for a convention. We are introduced to a few more characters and waiting to see how them intertwine with this story. Why are they really going to the other Academy? What is this Convention really about? Why are they getting threaten? Will they survive this trip? Or will they have to go to the experiments that was happening in the first book? Can't wait for the next book to find some answers.

The action and the tension go up a level in this book. More so when everyone is uprooted to Boston, US to stay at the North America Shifter Academy for a conference. An inter-species on that concerns all shifters. Whilst Millie (FMC) and the guys (Landon, Hunter, Silas and Shade) find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy that threatens them as well as others shifters too. This series just keeps getting better and that ending was just knockout. Bring on the next book

The first part of the book was a bit slow with no real action. The heat level was also toned way down. It was more about the plot developing than anything. Near the end there was some action and it picked up the pace. Given the title I thought this would focus more on Silas.

Definite improvement from book 1!

I will say I thought the cohesion was better in Book 2 in the Supernatural Shifter Academy series. I thought the consistencies were better (there were many issues with book 1 changing things in certain chapters that were caught with editing/proofreading). I will say I am confused how far Boots has gone with some of the guys. Are they actually doing the deed and we are getting fade to black?? If that the case I am disappointed and wish I had been warned that. I think my confusion is in a scene (I won't say with who) where Boots mentions making love with one of the guys but we only got kissing from the previous chapter. That then made me think maybe she actually had sex but then again, that is not G Bailey's style to do FTB scenes.

I did like the progression with Hunter and the climax was done really well. I loved the side character getting some more book time, I enjoyed her in book 1. I also like seeing some of the side characters have chemistry and am interested to see how things go in book 3 with the UK and US academies and where we left off with Boots and her posse haha (cant just say harem because of her friends being there as well). I cant wait for more magical battles and them getting to learn more about their powers. I enjoyed the battle scene at the end, good job by the authors describing the various creatures and who was battling who. Will be digging into book 3 once its available towards the middle/end of October. I need to know how the characters will band together to stop an all-out war between the supernaturals and humans, and I want to see Hawthorne get what he deserves (might have to wait for book 4 or 5 for that though haha).

A couple of inconsistencies and such, but still a good story

This book was pretty good and had a couple of major things happen in it, definitely making things escalate for the next book. There were only a couple of things I didn't like about the book:

Inconsistencies.

In one scene, Hunter is holding Millie's hand. The chapter ended, and when the next chapter began, the scene resumed, and it was Landon holding her hand.

When they arrived in Boston, they were told each suite had four adjoining rooms, but there were actually five.

Finally, in the previous book, Hunter already admitted that he liked Millie and wanted to 'win her heart.' In this book, he cuts himself off when talking to her at one point and seems shy that he nearly said out loud that he had feelings for her, despite already doing so previously.

** MINOR, KIND-OF-NOT A SPOILER**

All she's done up until about 63% into the second book was kiss or make out work a few of the guys. One chapter ends with her beginning to kiss one of the guys, then the scene fades out. The next chapter says, "... basking in the afterglow of the love we had made." "Once again, I hooked up with one of the guys..." It makes it SOUND like they 'went all the way,' but later, she admits to one of the other guys that she kissed one of the others. The writing makes it pretty confusing, and I feel it could have been worded a lot better. Not to mention that I'd love to actually READ these scenes! I'm getting the impression more and more that these are meant for teens.

Also, I mentioned in my review that I thought it may have been a mistake that the wolf-form Shade spoke. It wasn't - in this world, animal forms can speak out loud. It's also still all Millie's POV, not multiple, so that didn't change.

Shes too stupid to live. The story is just all over the place and ugh idk the heroine is really pathetic all doe eyed woe as me helpless even in verbal matters like she has no personality most of the characters dont tbh. Like i cant eith this weird world story whatever. The first book was bearable because of the mystery of her i suppose heritage which turned out SUPER weird since what she had their magic dna in her? Like what shes twinsies with all of them which i know sounds absurd even by itself i just theres so much words for so little happening you get throen from one time situation conversation and place to another with no real reference or reason or concept of continuous flow it felt more like a rough plan of a book that shouldve been dot points to important stuff because i dont even know what i read where the characters are at i mean theres no development i feel like theres no grounding to the story im dizzy i have a headache im frustrated by the heroine whos ugh irritatingly just useless and whiny like she has the iq of a preschooler like ugh the drama thats there is pointless and creepy important things are entirely skipped over or brushed over in like a sentence. Like i cant. I hoped the first book which i always give a free pass to was a one off on quality and lots of things being over the place because of the story and the intro book etc but nope it got worse and ugh its pointless save yourself dont read this series theres better g bailey books and theres waaaaay better rh books and fantasy academy books. Rip my sanity peace out.

A mixed bag

This was hard to rate, it would have been a 2 star but was saved by the end of the book.

First of all the bad - this is the 2nd book in the series, unfortunately the authors spend a large portion of the beginning of the book recapping the first book, even at 48% in they were still recapping . This is totally unnecessary and frankly rather boring. This book is also classed as 18+ RH but after 2 books there have only been 3 kisses and I don’t think it can even be classed as a slow burn. It may have been more suitable for my 12 and 14 yr old daughters.

The last portion of the book really is it’s saving grace, the storyline saves it there with finally a bit of excitement. But was that really enough? Not sure to be honest.

In reality in my opinion this is a moderate book at best as there are many better shifter and RH books out there. These books are short and although there is some merit to the storyline, the execution is lacking, the relationships between main characters lack depth and spark. I am rather disappointed and frustrated as there was so much potential here which was drastically unrealised. Sorry for poor review but got to keep it real as giving it a higher rating would be unfair to the books I rated higher.

Good enough story to keep me around

It's 2.5 again. I feel like there needs to be a warning label with these type of books that are fast burns of pure entertainment, cause the story zoomed on past me once again. Literally all that occurs is a week in the states and then BOOM controversy that leads to another cliffhanger. If I had actually bought these books, I wouldn't have continued, but because I have kindle unlimited, I find myself curious enough to read them, if only to discover how this comes to an end.

I like that their closeness is a bit of a slow burn. They don't act like a bunch of older teens when they seem so much younger with all the blushing and unsure of things, though. The girl friend seems a little plot-helper-y. The adults are still ridiculous with their threats, and yes there are times when Millie drives me nuts because if you choose not to stand up for yourself, I don't wanna hear the injustice of it. Keep it to yourself or do something.

I'm reading the next book because I have the means to, because the idea is just that good, and because I don't like quitting unless it's just rubbish, which this is not the case with me.

Is a war between humans and supernaturals a done deal? Millie and her friends are still distrustful, believing that the shifters and humans will once again start the hybrid experiments. And she always gets an uneasy feeling around President Hawthorne. She doesn’t trust him. When the entire academy goes to Boston to visit the American version of their academy they are excited, especially to witness the human/supernatural peace talks. But what they soon realize is that someone is orchestrating events to force the hybrid experiments to start up again, and Millie and her boys are fearful, as they will be the first to be experimented on. Again!!! But their group of rebels has expanded to eight as they have made friends with twin American shifters. On the run, they need to decide how to proceed. And who is the anonymous person send her text messages with warnings. Can she trust this person and make a decision where to go next, on what this person has told her? Hmm, I am not sure where I stand with this book. We get more of Millie and the guys. In the beginning we are see that they are recovering from what happened to Silas. It also seems that the school is trying to brush it under the rug and pretty much saying nothing happened. We get a little more development of characters like Hunter. Millie still has questions and she seems to be more uncertain in some ways and not in other. She has a lot of back and forth of internal debates. She does make an astonishing realization about the guys which made me proud to see that she is coming around to accept who she is. The question now is: will there be a war coming or will Millie and the guys stop the experiments. The ending was intense and does leave you wondering what will happen. Hopefully the wait will not be long.

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This book is slammed packed full of action and leaves you wanting more. Millie goes through a range of emotions in this novel. She's getting more involved with her guys, confused about what is going on between shifters and humans, and worried that her new family is in danger of unspeakable things.

Out of her guys, I'm not really feeling strong feelings toward one like I normally do. Hunter, Silas, Shade and Landon are all unique in their own way, and they all have different personalities. I also like that my question about the witch factor in their group was kind of answered in this book, but still leaves me with more thoughts.

I'm glad I got a chance to read this book and I'm looking forward to the next one soon!

Need more!

This 2nd book was a great follow up to the first. The writing between the 2 authors were well done so things flowed nicely together. I absolutely love the creativity and originality of the story with the different shifted forms and the bureaucracy between the humans and the shifters.

The overall plot of this book with Hawthorne and the academy board did not make sense to me when it was first mentioned so I knew that Hawthorne was not going to turn out to be a good guy and he was lying. His excuse to restarting the experiments didn’t seem likely which turned out to be right. I’m still trying to figure out his ulterior motive and how he managed to recruit all these shifters to be on his side.

I definitely plan to continue this series so I can see what happens next and who is behind the mysterious warnings.

Book was OK as long as you suspend your belief in people behaving normal. Honestly I had some trouble swallowing some of the decisions the characters make. If I suspect faculty at the school and the headmaster of the school is behind bombings, why would I go back to the school and stay in the dorm? I would get the hell out of there. These idiots however thought it was a good idea to go back to the dorms. Also when they did escape they decided to stay in the city and not try to leave the city immediately. These main characters are stupid. Then, towards the end of the book the main characters are low on cash but are contemplating buying airline tickets. I thought they were low on cash. So they risk going to the airport when someone comes up with a bright idea for our heroin to teleport everyone. Well duh. I’ve been saying that since the moment they escaped. These people are stupid. The author makes very odd choices.

Character and plot development is definitely the focus of this second book. The world building is really well done and certainly gives the whole Harry Potteresque feeling more stability. The only complaint I have (and to be honest, its minor because the story is really well thought out and kept me riveted) the relationships feel a bit slow - circumstances certainly give lots of opportunities for more things to happen and for actual conversations about becoming part of Millie's harem, but it doesn't happen. I love seeing Millie grow into her powers a bit more, I love the take on magic that the authors have created and I definitely look forward to book 3!

Loving this series so far!
This series is definitely a slow burn RH so if that’s not your jam, then maybe not read it? Seen a lot of reviews giving low rates for a slow burn, not really fair to rate a book low because you don’t like a certain aspect of it that a lot of other people enjoy! I for one, like this series immensely because it’s not all about the fun times, there’s a legitimate plot here!!!! I love stories that have a plot, there is SOMETHING happening that is keeping me on my toes! I do think this book gives us some insight to the characters and we can see some relationships growing at a more “normal” pace. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next one!!

Shifters on a dangerous field trip

Well things escalated quickly in this book. From rescuing Silas to a trip from Scotland to America. The humans and shifters are obviously not on the same side, and the humans seem to be the more dangerous group. Unfortunately, they seem to have swayed the opinion of some of the shifter council too. All of the sudden, the educational field trip turns into a catastrophe. Underneath all the chaos, Millie realizes her true feelings for her dragon, siren, wolf and vampire shifter friends. But will they survive long enough for her to admit it to them?

Short but action packed

Way too short of a read because I wanted more, but well done and a good continuation from book 1. The only problem with the quick story telling is I want more time to know and enjoy the characters. Can’t wait till book 3 comes out in October. It’s definitely more fun reading G. Bailey’s series as a whole series at once but since Book 1 was my introduction to her books, I found I had to preorder like there’s no tomorrow! Fortunately, it’s given me time to binge read several of the other series. 😁

Wow this book is full of action. After the rescue of Silas we see them all come together more. with the unexpected trip to the American shifter academy and the conference that they must attend things start to get crazy.
We see Millie, Shade, Silas, Hunter and Landon all get closer with the crazy twists they are put through. And with the added information gathered secretly by Hunter they all try to work out what to do. And with the explosive ending and everything that happens your left on a huge cliffhanger. I really need book 3 now after that

4 stars for Azure Dragons by G. Bailey and Regan Rosewood. This is book two in the Supernatural Shifter Academy series. Humans are out to get the supernaturals but the question is why. The action and suspense sure pick up in this book. The romance and steam are lacking in the book, so I would call it a slow burn. However, that fact does not take away from this book. The Chemistry between Millie and her boys is growing, and I can not wait to see where it goes. The whole group is under attack and culprit is closer than they know. I am ready for the next book.

This series is just not for me. This story drags on so much. The description in the book isn't bad, however the characters act so young it's hard to even relate on any level and I am in my twenties. There seems to be no depth in the FMC and MMC and their interactions and conversations just drag on about the silliest of stuff. I couldn't finish this book and I genuinely tried. I even tried to read other peoples reviews on the book hoping it would help me find some connection with this story and character but it just did NOT work for me. I will not be continuing this series.

Someone wants us dead

This portion of the series was more exciting. This world is different in that ALL supernatural creatures are shifters. This world says vampires, witches and sirens are also shifters. The UK students get to go to a convention in America. Something is wrong though. What happens when the leaders of the supernatural board and the leaders of the human realm meet?

Millie is such an old fashion name for such a remarkable character! This character has not had an easy life. She is just now feeling that she may be finding her place and her world is turned upside down by an insane headmaster. This seems to be a VERY slow burn reverse harem romance because at this point there's been nothing but a kiss here or there. This book does not lack for shifters, power hungry people, or action though. This series really should be read in order.

4.5 as the saga continues

Book 2 came with more excitement with a school field trip and lots more intrigue as villains come out of the closet.

Even with the escalation in subterfuge, which seemed a bit confusing at times, the pacing and some wrong word usage had me taken out of the story and having to go back. I only took a half point off as I like the main core characters and will definitely be reading book 3.

Oh wow!!

Having just finished this book, I go and (knowing it doesn’t release until October) try-unsuccessfully- to get book 3 because I need more. Just when things are getting good, it stops. Twists and turns, and surprises that you don’t see coming. I can’t wait until book 3 comes out!
