This is possibly the most actionable management book I've read.
Not only is this book well written and easy to digest, but I found myself underlining and circling constantly with several "ah ha moments" in almost every chapter. The world is currently experiencing a mental health crisis and if we want happy, productive work lives for ourselves and our teams, then building resilience is crucial.
I read this book in the hopes that it would improve my work life but I didn't expect to find so much in it that would help me personally too. The Author gives many practical examples of how the techniques can be applied and invites you to reflect on how you could use them in your own life.
The Leader’s Guide to Resilience could not have been released at a more topical time. Tang weaves a great deal of theory into her proactive outlook; first introducing resilience on an individual level, then establishing the team, and finally organisational approach. She provides exercises to enable self-auditing at regular intervals in addition to using common workplace examples to illustrate her claims. Whilst best befitting business leaders (as the title suggests), everyone has something to gain from this book, which is (despite what the title may suggest) an easy read. Whilst one ought not judge a book by its cover generally; in this case the cover promised and the book delivered!
