Bestselling author Newt Gingrich exposes the anti-American forces that have grown so large and so aggressive in their quest for power.
The struggle between the defenders of America as an exceptional nation and the forces of anti-Americanism is reaching a fever pitch. These forces have grown so large, so well-financed, so entrenched and aggressive that they must be studied closely and understood completely if America is to survive this imminent civil war.
In Beyond Biden, bestselling author Newt Gingrich brings together the various strands of the movement seeking to destroy true, historic American values and replace this country with one that’s imposed on us by the combined power of government and social acceptance.
Newt Gingrich is well-known as the architect of the “Contract with America” that led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives for the first time in forty years. After he was elected Speaker, he disrupted the status quo by moving power out of Washington and back to the American people. Under his leadership, Congress passed welfare reform, the first balanced budget in a generation, and the first tax cut in sixteen years. In addition, the Congress restored funding to strengthen defense and intelligence capabilities, an action later lauded by the bipartisan 9/11 Commission.
Today Newt Gingrich is a Fox News contributor. He is a Senior Advisor at Dentons, the world’s largest law firm with more than 6,500 lawyers in 50 countries and offices in more than 125 cities. He advises the firm’s world-class Public Policy and Regulation practice. He is also a Senior Scientist at Gallup.
From May 2011 to May 2012, Newt Gingrich was a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, winning the South Carolina and the Georgia primaries. The campaign was especially notable for its innovative policy agenda, its effort to bring new coalitions into the Republican fold, and for Newt’s debate performances. His $2.50 a gallon energy plan set off a nationwide discussion about the use of America’s energy resources. But there is a lot more to Newt Gingrich than these remarkable achievements. As an author, Newt has published twenty-nine books including 14 fiction and nonfiction New York Times best-sellers. Non-fiction books include his latest, Breakout, in addition to A Nation Like No Other, Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny, To Save America, Rediscovering God in America, 5 Principles for a Successful Life, Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less, Real Change, A Contract with the Earth, Winning the Future: A 21st Century Contract with America, To Renew America, Lessons Learned the Hard Way, Saving Lives & Saving Money, Window of Opportunity, and The Art of Transformation. He is also the author of a series of historical fiction books including, Gettysburg, Grant Comes East, Never Call Retreat: Lee and Grant the Final Victory, 1945, Pearl Harbor, Days of Infamy, To Make Men Free, To Try Men’s Souls, Valley Forge, and Victory at Yorktown. These novels are active history studies in the lessons of warfare based on fictional accounts of historical wartime battles and their aftermaths. His latest novel, Treason, is the sequel to Duplicity and is a thriller of Washington intrigue and international terrorism.
Newt and his wife, Callista, host and produce historical and public policy documentaries. Recent films include The First American, Divine Mercy: The Canonization of John Paul II, A City Upon A Hill, America at Risk, Nine Days That Changed The World, Ronald Reagan: Rendezvous with Destiny, Rediscovering God in America, Rediscovering God in America II: Our Heritage, and We Have the Power.

I'm very surprised it has such high marks since he had some things to say about the patriots in the republican party. I guess it was eclipsed by the theme of the book.. elder Caucasian gentleman having a tantrum because people are pointing out that elder Caucasian men have an advantage.
He twists extreme left wing examples to make a point all the the while slipping digs at the patriots (which is pretty funny to be honest)
Whoever the ghost writer is on this book is a good writer, the book is well written, but the tantrum in the middle was a bit much to get through since he just constantly repeated the same thing. -ok we get it already, are you getting paid by the word or what?
And you can tell he's a lifelong politician because he is especially good at twisting facts to fit his narrative. I learned a lot about taking things completely out of context and repeating it about 30 times to pretend I'm making a point. I'll use this method at some point I'm sure.
Is it worth the read, not really, he's just ranting about how anyone who is not Caucasian elder men are problematic, oh but he also thinks everyone is equal , but only maybe.
Truly a MUST read!!! Newt does an incredible job of putting it all together: explaining with perfect clarity the absolute destructive nonsense that the MARXIST progressives / democrats of today are doing and their ultimate goal of turning this GREAT nation into another Soviet Union or VENEZUELA!
A coherent explanation of events that precede and follow the election of Joe Biden as President of the United States of America, the democrats' campaign and efforts to assure that outcome, and the woke Far Left direction they are trying to impose on America. The author backs his findings with historical accounts, polls, graphs, and charts in the back of the book. Gingrich sees America's future challenges being met by the private sector, the American people, rather than more government legislation that hinders the growth of ideas and over-regulates freedom. The sharp contrast between the Trump and Biden administrations poignantly display the counter productivity of this current regime from the prosperous, energetic strength that Trump conveys. International powers are emboldened with Biden in office because of his withdrawal, which is more of a surrender, from Afghanistan. Broken promises and a lack of transparency are also major factors that separate Biden's presidency from Trump's. Newt Gingrich is optimistic about America in this book even though he stresses the seriousness of the Progressive agenda to turn America into an apologetic, weaker power who accepts dependency on government to meet people's needs and dependency on foreign countries for natural resources, like oil and natural gas. He quotes Ronald Reagan's motto that capture's the American spirit, "You ain't seen nothing, yet."
Will America continue to be the dominant power on earth. Newt exposes our weaknesses and flaws that have the potential to derail our super power status or worse lead to our downfall. A wake up call.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich was really able to put forth what America needs to do to re-take our country once Joe Biden is out of office. While we still have some time before that occurs, it was refreshing to read the optimism Mr. Gingrich has that American CAN come back from the nonsense we are now enduring under the autocracy and the numerous, serious issues/crises which Biden has created against all our country used to stand for.
All conservatives should add this book to their reading list. Maybe add it to your Christmas wish list. We MUST look forward beyond all the craziness in which we now find ourselves. This book will give you hope that America be AMERICA once again!
Outstanding. Clear and concise. Explains the issues most (over 70%) Americans care about and articulates the prevailing opposing viewpoints in plain English. Newt is exceptionally capable of describing the bankrupt, morally and ethically deficient ideologies of the left. He has a solid and logical plan for retaking the Congress in 2022.
This pairs well with Victor Davis Hanson's "The Dying Citizen."
I saw Beyond Biden in the new nonfiction shelf at the library, and being a centrist Democrat who tries to read the other side’s perspective (other than the radical alt-right), I picked this up. My comments won’t be my partisan response but my perspective as a reader about politics.
Beyond Biden is more a primer on moderate conservatism and as such would be useful in a poli sci class paired with its equivalent for US liberalism as represented by the Democratic Party (not classical liberalism). I had hoped for a couple other things: (1) Gingrich’s personal perspectives, “lessons,” and anecdotes from his long career in politics, but no, they’re few and far between here; (2) commentary directed to the book’s title/subtitle, i.e., what would he have a Republican-dominated federal government actually do if, after 2024, the party controls the White House, both houses of Congress, and (philosophically) the Supreme Court? Newt’s thoughts on #2 would be quite fascinating and eye-opening, I’m sure. But they’re not here. General policy aims are outlined, for sure, but I wanted the input of someone who’s had to make things happen in Congress while working with the White House. I guess that’s another book, like Being Speaker of the House in Twelve Easy Lessons: (you write the subtitle).
He credits his “team” several times in the Acknowledgments, e.g., “The team at Gingrich 360 has worked hard to make this book cohesive and impactful.” Well, it is cohesive. Impactful??? You sometimes try to breathe through all the data and quotes and poll results that a team of researchers gathered and threw into a pile for this book. At times it becomes as tedious and repetitive as a bland textbook. Mostly the prose is clear and direct; it loses some of that as the book progresses.
Except for the sections on China: these are worth reading, regardless of your political stance. They’re likely (obviously) written by Claire Christensen, the Director of Research and Chinese Studies for Gingrich 360 and the author of Trump vs. China (2019). I learned much more about the threats of China’s global economic aggressiveness and the bipartisan congressional moves to support the abused Muslim Uyghurs in Xinjiang. See especially Ch. 10 and pp. 217-220.
A final comment: ALL the notes refer to websites (all that data and quotes), but no other sources, and there’s no index. Come on, team.
Newt used to be a history professor. I can recall a series that Newt developed about American history that was shown on PBS many years ago. Can you imagine? PBS showing a program that was just Newt speaking for 8 hours? They would certainly lose their funding if that happened today. In this book, Newt tries to look ahead to when Biden is gone (2024?) and the country has swung back to Republican control. But he also looks back at recent history, what's gone wrong and why, and why it will be corrected. If you're aware you're familiar with this ground. If you've had your head in the sand for the past few years it will catch you on your American history
A worthwhile read but… Newt Gingrich does not break free of the mainstream media narrative and despite his adult view of the issues he has only temporary solutions. He sees his coworkers on the left as having good intentions and does not see the overview of the situation, the war against America. His view of war on freedom from a lifetime politician perspective is limited because he is inside the weeds and misses the big picture. I cannot agree that the political solution proposed by Newt Gingrich is the cure for the evils of the socialist New World Order regime. It would be a good start, but the Deep State and the Media are past the point of no return. Without addressing the entrenched corruption of the FBI, the CIA, the DOJ, and all the other levers of socialist power any political solution is doomed to failure. The political solution at this time of democratic collapse will not repair the death of the rule of law necessary to restore the constitution. My recommendation is that we use the ideas, the ideology and morality presented, to rebuild the Republican Party with like minded politicians. Then we can use this tool and tradition values of Judeo-Christian civilization to rebuild the “shining city on the hill”. When the lights go on again in DC the rest of the world will follow – again.
I decided to read this book, among other politically “themed” books from both sides of the aisle, to better understand the context behind modern day political talking points. This book was written in the middle of 2021, so though it’s a little dated, still discusses many issues that are at the forefront of current political discourse. Here’s what I liked and disliked:
Pros: 1. The author makes a strong case for energy independence and the dangers of remaining economically “complacent” as China and Russia continue to heavily invest in renewable energy and state of the art technologies.
2. The author also deeply emphasizes the need for prioritizing national security (which as I’m writing this, is brought into sharp focus as former President Trump was nearly killed at a rally this week due to complete incompetence of the secret service).
3. The author structures his main points around a survey conducted among 1,000 “likely voters”, that captured opinions that the majority of Americans agree with (and many of which I personally agree with).
Cons: 1. The author makes several claims about “radical leftists,” or “democrats” that are generally untrue and have been debunked. Here are three examples:
Claim: The Biden administration cancelled the annual “Rolling Thunder” motorcycle parade, which is a Memorial Day event founded to support American veterans due to COVID restrictions.
Fact: [Post from the event organizer on May 4, 2021] “It has come to our attention that there is misleading information being spread, both unknowingly and politically driven; that Rolling to Remember 2021 has been blocked or cancelled. We are writing this to denounce this information. We still plan to host a large pro-veteran demonstration ride in Washington, D.C. on May 30th.”
Claim: The Biden administration is anti-American because they didn’t allow fireworks to be shot at Mount Rushmore on July 4th.
Fact: Fireworks were halted after 2020 due to risk of wildfire concerns. In 2021, a lawsuit was filed by the National Parks Conservation Association to prevent the fireworks from occurring on the grounds that the fireworks cause environmental risks and damage to the lands near the monument.
Claim: Segregationist Democrats during the civil rights era were the reason that segregation was sustained for so long in the 1960s (author extrapolates this point to show how Democrats are still the party of “segregation”, dividing the “woke” and the not “woke”).
Fact: Party affiliation was not predictive of voting patterns during the 1960s. There were similar numbers of abolitionist and segregationist voters on both sides of the aisle. Instead, geography was much more predictive. Both republicans and democrats in the South were staunchly anti-integration during this time period.
One of the author’s main points is that Americans should band together around super majority issues, yet includes many vitriolic, untrue claims about democrats throughout the book. The message he is trying to send seems inconsistent.
2. The topics that the author chooses to focus on in the latter part of the book have no relevance to the main points discussed at the beginning of the book. Nearly a quarter of the book is spent talking about historic advancements in warfare strategies and quotes from prominent military figures. How does this information relate to improving the lives of Americans?
3. The conclusion of the book did nothing to meaningfully explain a path forward or tie all the book’s points together. Instead the author talks about how Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are examples of why America is going to be great again. How is this relevant?
Glad I got my feet wet with this one, but overall, not really impressed.
It is good to read things by people you fundamentally disagree with. That said, there are veneers on my mother's decades old furniture with more depth and understanding of current political, both geo-and social-, trends then Newt Gingrich demonstrates here.
Overall a positive look at the future for America, IF we address some critical concerns including morals, crime approach and international relations, particularly with Russian and China. Spent a lot of time thinking, "Yeah, and ... how do we do that?" Newt is a good writer but this one left a lot of unanswered questions for me. My one take away is that America has a supermajority of people that want the same things, despite the divisiveness and D vs. R we see in the media.
Once again, Newt Gingrich demonstrates his mastery of relating the big picture of world events, current politics and shifting American culture. Of particular note is his perspicuous analysis of "wokeism" and its detrimental effects on the nation. And his perception of the strategies of China and Russia, each in its own way, of seeking domination on the world stage is spot on as well as terrifying. He clearly delineates where our country got off track and what is needed to reclaim the foundation of America's greatness and world leadership role. His insights and knowledge regarding both history and the advances in technology are amazing and most educational. And an extensive fact-based appendix consisting of charts and survey data only lend further credence to Gingrich's observations and interpretations. A stimulating work not to be taken lightly and one highly recommended.
My one complaint is all these hypocritical politicians who want to pull out of the Beijing Olympics because China uses slave labor among other human rights violations. Did we just learn about this? I don't think so! The time to challenge the awarding of the Olympics to China was years ago. The only ones being hurt are the athletes, who have dedicated their lives to training. I have heard alleged conservatives, Laura, stating they are boycotting and will not watch. Who does that hurt, no one. And certainly not the Chinese. As I said above the timing is beyond stupid.
Read this off my dad's shelf at Thanksgiving out of, I don't know, morbid curiosity? Anyways, I'd put good money that many if not all of the high ratings on this were white people. I'll give it 2 stars just because there is much, much worse political literature out there right now, and while I disagree with Gingrich on just about everything, it's a little bit less focused on the vitriolic hatred of anyone to the left of the tea party and doesn't (explicitly) promote the more dangerous conspiracy theories swirling around the right. That said, the information in the book is not accurately presented and contains plenty of widely debunked, corporately funded studies and quotes from convicted fraudsters masquerading as experts. Mostly standard stuff to this genre.
On the whole, I went in with my expectations on the ground and was slightly pleasantly surprised. I still wouldn't suggest that anyone read this book for anything other than a lark. Even if you're a conservative, there's better and more informative literature out there. At least it's not Tucker Carlson.
Unapologetically conservative perspective on possible future policies and direction of our country. If your left leaning, you may find this a stinging admonition of policy in the early stages of the Biden administration. If you lean to the right, this may vindicate your world view. Regardless - consider adding this to your reading list and Please continue to think for youself!
Newt’s grasp of history and his knowledge of politics in our times makes this book good. His use of data and his precise analysis of that data in the context of history and current events makes this book great.
As usual, Newt has written a book that ALL Americans should read. And as usual, despite the current depressive environment Newt is optimistic about our countries future.
I do not lean one way or the other. I agree with the Dems on certain issues and the GOP on certain issues. Extremism either way is, in my opinion harmful. I needed something to read, so I thought that I would read a book from both sides of the aisle. To be honest when I picked this one up, I had all intentions of not completing it and return it to the library as I do not read non-fiction. This book was very well written. I was compelled not to put it down because I was intrigued by the statistics and the various poll data. Yes, numbers can be manipulated so I will maintain an open mind when I read a book from the other side of the aisle. Please suggest one. The author rants in the middle of Beyond Biden but the sections on cybersecurity, Russia, and China were eye opening and thought provoking. I would recommend this book.
Author Newt Gingrich offers the Republican Party and the American people a way forward in the wake of Joe Biden's election to the Presidency in 2020. Gingrich outlines a number of policy ideas that spring from conservative thought, but which have broad support amongst the general public and which he believes should be the vanguard of the Republican platform in upcoming elections. Gingrich does a fine job of setting forth his thoughts in a lively, articulate voice that makes many convincing arguments and offers hope to those left feeling desolate following Biden's electoral victory. The book misses out on five stars primarily because Gingrich fails to propose the kind of practical strategy for implementing his ideas which would be necessary to overcome a hostile media and persuade non-Republicans to support an agenda which many have been conditioned to rebel against. Even so, this is a valuable book which offers solid insights into the political challenges faced by all Americans today.
Newt Gingrich offers a fascinating look at the current state of the country, using a national survey of likely voters as a starting point. Surprisingly (or not) there are many major issues on which the public at large finds strong agreement, even on controversial topics such as race and security. Gingrich's thesis is that if Republicans focus on those issues that unite us rather than the ones that divide us, they will win the next two elections overwhelmingly and, more importantly, serve the greater good for the citizens of this nation. NB: The survey was done in May 2021, before Biden's collapse in the polls, so the opportunity is even greater than is stated here. So is the responsibility to focus on good governance, not revenge or divisiveness.
Another good book by Newt Gingrich. Full of common sense recommendations that are fact based, well reasoned and doable. In Beyond Biden Newt argues that the right isn't defeated just because Trump lost and the Dems have the House and Senate. There will be new elections and Republicans need sound, popular policies to run on that will make America stronger. He lists 10 proposals that all have the support of more than 75% of Americans. It's a great approach, one that worked extremely well in his Contract with America, and I agree with him that it can work again.
This is prolly my Favorite book of Modern Politics in America. Newt Gingrich does a great job covering on how Joe Biden ran as a unifier and with in his 1st 100 days and office chose to take on the most polarizing issues amongst Americans. How joes words said one thing and his actions did another. The major strength of this book was focusing on the “American Majority” isssues that majority of all Americans agree upon and how we can uses the issues to strengthen the divide in our country as well as reinforcing our Dominant place in the international hierarchy. Great Book!
Recommend. The title of the book is a bit misleading, its should really be "Beyond Biden and Trump..." however, the point is effectively that the American People need to be focused on what comes next, what type of America do we desire, rather than looking backward at recent societal struggles. One caveat, intermittently Mr. Gingrich relies heavily on statistics in making his case and I found these sections to be a difficult slog to get through. Recommend.
Incredibly insightful, Newt is both easy to read and brilliant in his assessments of past and present presidential gaffes and his uncanny ability to predict future happenings in the Biden presidency. Everything that is happening right this minute (including inflation, the southern border crisis, the Ukraine invasion) is in here.
What an excellent and well thought out book. Newt really focuses on issues that the vast majority of the country will accept. The book will not make any friends with the far left or even the far right. Hopefully, the next Congress will get onboard with focusing what they can be achieved and not try force radical ideas down our throat like Queen Pelosi has done for the last several years.
