"We may be young, but we're also powerful. People will see us speaking up for animals and will realize that they, too, can make positive changes. Our voices will be heard." --Emma Black (14), Wollongong, Australia
Vegan children's author and animal activist with big hopes for the world. Author of Amanda the Teen Activist. A fun, exciting animal rescue fiction series with a compassionate message for 8-12 year olds (and if you're an animal loving or vegan adult you may well love this too). Catherine runs NSW Hen Rescue, an Australian charity that rescues and rehomes ex-battery hens. Catherine has drawn on her experiences of liberating, rehabilitating and living with chickens to write Amanda the Teen Activist.
uhm…not my favorite read ever. i didn’t appreciate how they encouraged teens to “walk around and show people graphic videos of animals being slaughtered”. i think stuff like that is incredibly triggering and just…people shouldn’t be forced to watch those videos.
I think this a great guide to all things animal activism. Catherine covers so many ways people can make change and I love that she doesn't value any one method over another. You want to write chalk messages on paths? That's great! You want to photograph what happens in stockyards? That's great too! This book is exactly what it says it is, a guide. There is no judgement but rather compassion and hope, which is so motivating and inspiring. Thanks Catherine!
This book was very inspiring and would be suitable for both those looking to start getting into activism through to those who are experienced. Catherine provides useful prompts throughout for brainstorming your own ideas. This guide packs hundreds of incredible tips and stories, giving you a sense of hope. It was a brilliant read, I struggled to put it down!
