She always dreamed of marrying a Stuart brother. Just not the one who meets her at the altar.
When scandal sweeps through London's ballrooms, Lord Elijah Stuart's younger brother is caught in its web. Though his main duty is to England's spymaster, Elijah must forsake his work searching for the traitor to the Crown and instead focus on weddings and reputations. With both the family honor and his brother's future at stake, Elijah dutifully takes the ruined Miss Josephina Pennyworth for his very reluctant bride.
Furious at the circumstances leading her to be wed to the wrong Stuart brother, Josephina clashes immediately with her bossy new husband. She is every bit as invested in the search for the traitor as Lord Stuart and she is no shrinking violet when it comes to danger. While Josie discovers certain aspects of married life are quite pleasurable, she doesn't permit them to distract her from her mission. As she tests her husband's patience and the boundaries of her new life, the threat lurking in the shadows grows larger and places more lives in peril. Who among them will survive?
**This book contains steamy scenes and the firm discipline of a sassy heroine when she requires it.

I had SO much fun writing Josie and Elijah's book and I'm thrilled with the reviews coming in! I'm glad it seems like people are having as much fun reading it as I did writing it =)
I always wanted to write a 'ended up with the wrong brother who turned out to be the right brother' kind of romance. Elijah and Josie were so perfect for each other, they just didn't know it!
Well the story had me intrigued with all the steamy action that plays out in the book. The writer’s build up to the plot was a fast pace. There was some similarities to the story being real. The writer kept the wording simple. The entertainment in the book was very interesting. The romance between Elijah and Josie was sweet and hot for. The description and details of certain situations were explained vividly.
Tropes Rake Hero, Hot Steam, Historical Romance, Season/Marriage Mart, Ton Society, Titled Hero, Detective/Agents of the Crown, Hoyden, Virgin Heroine, Enemies to Lovers, Married in Scandal, Suspense/Danger, Mystery Romance,
The Plot The story was amazing and I loved that it overlapped/carried on from the first book of the series. We get to see more of Mary and Rex! I like the ‘childhood enemies turned lovers’ trope! There was mystery, danger, romance, and LOTS of steam!
The Heroine Josie is the seasons Diamond of the First Water; she has many interested men, but only has eyes for one man. But he is in love with someone else…She basically grew up with Stuart boys and has been in love with the middle brother, Joseph, forever and has always been at odds with the oldest brother, Elijah. Josie is impulsive and out spoken and being an orphaned child, she always looked out for herself and never really had to answer to anyone. But, with Elijah, she realizes she likes being cared for.
Even as she wanted to rail against his overprotectiveness and determination not to include her, part of her liked feeling small, safe, and protected against his chest.
The Hero Elijah never planned to get married; he was happy to let his brothers produce the next heir, instead focusing on his duties to the crown. But when fate intervenes and he sacrifices himself to marry Josie, he starts to realize he was missing something in his life. And he sees Josie in a different way, a beautiful woman instead of his little cousins friend. He really opens up to the relationship and the idea of a wife he loves.
That was the crux of his problem, he finally realized. He had known his feelings for Josie had changed, but he had not truly understood how much until now. The most startling revelation since their marriage—he wanted her to love him because somehow, he had already fallen in love with her.
The Steam (Fanning myself) Yes, there is lots of steam. I mean Elijah is a member of The Society, so…
“Who am I, Josie?” he asked, his lips hovering over hers. “My husband?” Confused, unsure of the response he wanted, the words came out a question. “My name, sweetheart.”
This honestly is my favorite Golden Angel historical to date. It's got all the best parts of a Golden Angel historical a hot but stern hero, a feisty but smart heroine, lots of great minor characters, and a great plot.
Josie and Elijah are my favorite couple. They have conflict, some emotional upheaval but what I love is that learn to communicate and compromise with each other. As the mystery of the villain deepens they work with each other more and more. Their respect for each other grows along with their.
I loved the series before this one but there were times I wanted to shake the characters and yell at them to just have an honest conversation with their significant other.
In this series you really see the characters having a more mature and honest relationship. I really appreciated reading of the heroines fight to be seen as an equal to their husbands. I really liked how the heros started to treat their wives as equals. It's not perfect, this is a historical romance, but they all make significant progress.
If you love kinky sex scenes, spanking, intrigue, laugh out loud moments, and a great love story this is the book for you.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This one is Josie and Elijah’s story - from a hasty marriage to a partnership in both spy craft and love, this story was exciting from page one! I loved the chemistry between these two; Josie really lights a spark that cracks Elijah’s super-serious mien (for the better). A terrific read, and the dangle of Lily’s story at the end - Gasp!
This book is amazing! I loved it! My first book of Golden Angel and I was in awe. It pulled me in from the start and didn't let me go until the end. It was fast paced and very good! I loved the characters Josie and Elijah. I definitely recommend this series!
Tis a Season for Scandal and Josie is it’s victim…..or is she? Golden Angel knows just the man to “tame” this minx, and i was lucky enough to find out who it was in the ARC. But it wasn’t the man she was hoping for….
Josie has been hoping that Joseph would see her as the woman she’s become for a long time. But he has his eye on miss Bliss…..and all seems lost. Until she receives a note from him at one of the balls…..but did he really write it? Or is there another reason to draw her outside? Does someone want to cause a scandal? And why? It’s a good thing Elijah saw her slip outside, and comes to her rescue. What he does after,is something she didn’t count on…. And how she feels about his…..needs,is an unexpected revelation!
Elijah knows Joseph loves miss Bliss, and he also knows if Joseph has to marry Josie,it will make both unhappy. So,he does the only thing he can,he asks for her hand in marriage. What he didn’t count on,is seeing the little minx in a very different light than he used to….. And finding out how much they have in common,is a véry pleasant surprise!
But when trouble knocks, they need to talk about trust and sharing most of all. Trying to hide his investigations from Josie is causing more trouble than it’s worth. And it might turn out lethal….. If only they knew who the traitor in their midst is!
I absolutely love this series, and how each girl finds her perfect partner. The right mix of spice, love and suspense, all wrapped up in a beautiful historical package. Next up is Lily…..and i can’t wait!
Really liked this couple, as the heroine is quietly determined rather than feisty. The H likes her and takes her to wife when they are 'accidently' compromised. He's a spy and likes kink, but decides to keep his activities secret from her. I liked how she quietly got on with her agenda, to uncover the spy. Good story especially as the ladies actually had some skills. Best of all the kink didn't overpower the story.
Trying to save Josie from a scandal, Elijah is willing to marry her, even though she is in love with his younger brother. Josie and her friends Mary & Lily are still trying to help their friend Evie, to find a traitor to the crown. Unfortunately, their spying expeditions bring Josie to a collision course with Elijah, who is trying to find the traitor as well, and doesn't appreciate his new bride putting herself in danger. Josie is strong headed, smart and capable young woman. She is not the type to stay behind and let the men have all the fun. She will stand toe to toe with Elijah, even if it gets her spanked every time. Even though Elijah knew Josie most of her life, nothing had prepared him to how much he is attracted and drawn to her, once she had became his wife. The little girl who he used to save from scrapes, grew up to be a strong, beautiful woman. Reading Josie & Elijah story was pure pleasure. The book is filled with adventures, great characters and enough heat to light up the sky! It's a great addition to the series and it promises more great stories to come!
I love a good "unrequited love" story. They just seem to pull on my heart strings more. This one was great. Not only did it have those emotions but it also had adventurous, headstrong females. I imagine myself during this time period and how boring sitting around doing the proper "female" things would be.
I fell in love with these four ladies in the first book A Season for Treason. They can certainly handle themselves to the absolute surprise of the men who fall in love with them. Though they still have some learning to do.
Josie and Elijah were perfect for each other, even though they didn't start out thinking that. She was always pushing his buttons growing up and he was always protecting her. I'm very happy they ended up married. Joseph would have bored her to death. Plus Joseph and Josie? Lol... that's just to weird.
I loved the "sin" added in this book. It's a little naughty but also sweet. Plus it's fun to learn about what they would have used, and how, during this time period. This book, however, isn't as sinful as the first. It's full of adventure and falling in love with the person in front of you that you never truly saw coming.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
I really like Josie and all her friends. They all have the right idea. Just pretend to be what people expect, and no one will look any deeper at you. I really think that Josie is smart and she's got a very good heart. She's impetuous, but everything she does, she does out of the best intentions.
I like Elijah too, but sometimes I want to smack him. He doesn't necessarily see Josie, even though she keeps telling him she can do these things. He's a good, honorable man, just occasionally blind.
In the second book, it's Josie and Elijah's turn. When a scandal happens, Elijah is forced to marry Josie to save his family's reputation, along with Josie's. Will they be happy? It seemed liked Josie went looking for trouble a lot and that made all the discipline scenes hot. Maybe she liked them!! There is still danger lurking and while one person has been caught, the one who is the mastermind is still out there. This was such a good story and I loved every bit of it.
This book offers up an enticing blend of historical romance, steam and domestic discipline and kink that I felt was simply irresistible. Sweetness and heart go hand in hand as Elijah and Josie's story unfolds. The pacing is fast and you can expect to receive some very nice feels, swoon and exciting thrills as you enjoy this fun & fiery romance. I am electing to post an objective review.
The second book in the series and it features Josie. While one traitor has been captured the master mind is still out there amd the search continues.
This book is fast paced and full of action. Once I started reading I didn’t stop until I finished the book. Josie and Elijah are an interesting couple, much better suited then they think and their interactions made me laugh out loud. Sparks fly when they are together.
I did yell at the end of the book because it stopped at an intriguing point and now I have to wait until the next book to find out what happens next.
A wonderful second book in the Deception and Discipline series. I loved it. Josie is in her first season and has a major crush on Joseph a childhood friend. He only has eyes on another. When she is tricked into compromising her situation, only marrage will save her. Joseph is not willing to lose his chance at happiness. Elijah his older brother, who finds Josie headstrong and far to forward, volunteers, having never planned on marriage or seemed like a valid option. Elijah and Josie on the surface are not suited, but ooooh the chemistry is scalding. I love these characters. The situations Josie gets herself in are thoroughly entertaining and the consequences smoulder of the page. The plot is lovingly detailed and the punishments spankingly scandalous in polite society :-) I highly recommend this book, series and author. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
As all good historical romances have it, there is a note, but it leads our heroine into a situation more designed for scandal than for romance. And, as all good historical romances have it, there is a gentleman able and prepared to step in to save the day. But then, this isn’t your standard historical romance, and the hero and heroine aren’t your standard players either. Josie doesn’t “see the error of her ways,” any more than Elijah “makes the best of a bad situation.” There is more intrigue, more heat, and more fun in this book than in most of those “good historical romances” and it’s a one-sitting read with visits from other Golden Angel characters and a rollickingly good time.
This book is extremely entertaining and fun. I really loved the characters, and Josie was my favorite. She’s a wonderful spitfire and dedicated lady who wants adventure and excitement. Yet when she’s drawn into a devious plot, she discovers that she must do something extreme to save her reputation. In steps Elijah. He’s a very dedicated man whose devotion to the nation may just cost him everything. I will add that it was extremely spicy and utterly engaging. I will be grabbing the rest of the books in this series.
I adored book 1, A Season For Treason, but I absolutely devoured A Season For Scandal. Elijah and Josie’s story is sizzling, laugh out loud funny and left me wondering where the author will take the suspense throughout the series. Not that I’m complaining, I love that I can’t guess what’s going to happen next. Whatever she does I know it’ll be funny, steamy and have me on the edge of my seat.
Stringent Rules of the Ton - and Mysterious Spies!!
Retribution for getting too close to a traitor, results in a marriage to avoid scandal. Elijah has always found Josie to be a bit rebellious. Never mind the fact she is in love with his brother Joseph. To allow Joseph to keep his love match Elijah volunteers to wed Josie.
An interesting turn of events, and a realization that perhaps this match has more going for it than to prevent scandal.
Great characters, strong females, entertaining storyline and all the sizzle you could want.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Can I just say there is something almost magical about a crossover between a Regency/Victorian romance, a domestic discipline relationship, and a secret society of BDSM members. I absolutely adore everything about this. Every. Little. Thing. Elijah and Josie are a perfect match, even if neither of them initially realizes it. He holds her accountable and she gets him to loosen up. I would give just about anything for like… and entire book devoted to one of The Society’s get togethers, but I’m also very dirty minded. 😂 Judging by that ending, I’d guess Lily is up to bat next and I’ve got my fingers crossed that Captain Nathan Jones is just the man to tame, tempt, and challenge her! 💜
The second book in the Deception and Discipline series and Josie and Elijah's story. When a scandal happens Elijah is forced to marry Josie to save her reputation as well as his family’s. Josie and Elijah were a perfect match for each other. This book is sweet, and filled with adventure, action, and plenty of steam. A great addition to this series and one I recommend.
This is the 2nd book in the series, and we're reading about another of the friends, Josie. She's in love with the hero's brother, or that's what she thinks... Also, the brother is in love with someone else. When she gets a note from the brother to go into the gardens at a party, she talks herself into it, even though she knows it's a really bad idea... It was a worse ide Athen she thought, especially since she gets accosted by a dude who is not the brother.
The hero, Elijah, goes after her when he sees where she's going and manages to save her before she gets ravished. The bad thing is that they get discovered by a group of gossip mongers... They try to think of an alternative, but obviously the only decision is to get married.
I loved Josie, she's not afraid to speak her mind, she's adventurous and she has one of the best girl squads. The fun thing is that they also discuss about relations between couples so we don't have any swooning virgins. We have virgins, but the curious kind which I find a lot of fun (even though I guess it's historically inaccurate).
There's also a continuation of the mistery, that I guess will be solved in the last book, the one which will be about the last friend Evie
All in all I flew through the book, I laughed and I got swoony... I can't wait to see what the gang will get to now since the season if over.
'A Season for Scandal' is the second book in Golden Angel's "Deception and Discipline" series and if you haven't already started it, then, by all means, get on the bandwagon. This is a delightfully humor-filled mysterious adventure that has Elijah and Josie burning up the pages one minute and then snapping and snarling at each other. It doesn't help that when the story first began, Elijah had no intention of getting married or having an heir, leaving that to one of his brothers to handle. Josie has been in love with her neighbor and Elijah's younger brother, Joseph since she was a young girl but fate intervened with EVERYTHING. Joseph fell in love with someone else while Josie was manipulated and found herself compromised and Elijah is the one marrying the girl. If you know and love Golden Angel's writing style as much as I do then I know you'll want to read this immediately. If you haven't for whatever reason picked up one of her books, be prepared. There is always humor, mischief, red hot chemistry, and plenty of butt stuff. This is just great and I can't wait for the next one.
This is the second book in the Deception and Discipline series. The dynamic between Elijah and Josie is top tier and I love them. The plot continues from book 1 with a focus on Josie and a new development in the search for the person responsible for treason. Scandal, kink, and a couple to swoon over- what more could you want?
Quickie review: 3.5-3.75 stars. This was an enjoyable, easy read and I liked the couple. I just wanted more resolution on their feelings, the mystery and the "Joseph" situation. Still, I like this series and will continue it.
A Season for Scandal is the second book in the Deception and Discipline series. Josie has been in love with her best friend’s cousin for years, but in a season full of suspense and trying to help find a traitor, she’s the center of potential scandal and is forced to marry the wrong brother. Elijah is terrified his new wife will be used against him, so while he wants to push her away, he can’t help but release their passion. Will this reluctant couple learn to love and trust each other before the danger catches up to them?
Wow! This book had me hooked! I barely put this book down because I needed to know what would happen next! I was so curious about the traitor and what Elijah and Josie could uncover, both together and separately, but I was also dying to know how their relationship would develop! Their passion and connection could be felt right away, but I loved that neither one of them particularly wanted to be married to the other and that neither really knew what to do about their marriage! Josie was a bit of a romantic dreamer, but she was fearless and one not to be underestimated. I loved that she put one face on to the society, but only let the select few see beyond that. Elijah was, phew, he just gives me the best kind of shivers thinking of him. He was stern and dominant, I loved his darker sides that came out, and I loved that he wanted not just loyalty from his wife, but ultimately her heart. Elijah had to quickly change his views on having a woman in his life, but I loved that he wasn’t afraid to apologize when he realized he was wrong. I adored this couple together. They were fire. They were passion. They were explosive! Their scenes were thrilling, but I thought it was beautiful that they also needed to have more than just a physical connection, but a partnership. The danger in this book was just as captivating as the dynamic of this couple. I am seriously loving this series and cannot wait to read the next book!
