Review:

"A Dream To Cling To" by Sally Goldenbaum was a good romantic read with a lot of drama but still a good read. We find from this read Brittany who is a pet lover from a wealthy family and then there is Sam... a 'Renaissance' man who had had it all...been over the world and simply like it like that and no plans of settling down. Brittany works at a non profit program, loves her family and especially her Dad who is fixing to retire. Sam is the owner of a gaming company that gets game personalized for his clients and this is where Brittany had agreed to help him provide the information that is needed. As they are working together will Brittany find herself getting emotional involved with Sam? "Will she be able to trust Sam with her heart as well as her secrets?" This will be where this story will pick up and at this point that I say you must pick up the good read to find out what this author has in store for these two people. There were some twist and turns where you really had to keep up. I found all of the characters well developed and very captivating. If you are looking for a good contemporary romance that is so sweet, with fun and great emotional scenes you have come to the right place for "A Dream to Cling To" will give it to you and Yes, I would recommend this read to you.

This book tell the story of Brittany who was asked to assist Sam in designing a game board for her father’s retirement. What started off as a misunderstanding resulted in Brittany giving him a cold shoulder soon turned out to be a passionate love affair. Sam claimed that marriage is off limit to him from a conversation that they have at the early stage while Brittany, due to her previous relationship and subsequent heartache, know that she could not risk herself in another non committal love relationship. But their love and attraction is too strong for them to withhold and soon they found themselves at a crossroad.

This is a story of two differential belief and how love at end prevail. The author have written a very strong emotional story especially towards end of the book. I truly felt for Brittany and i was so overcome by emotion that i actually shed tears reading the ending of the story. ;)

I was going back and forth about giving this book 2.5 or 3 stars and settled on 3 for one reason only. The concept is different than what we normally see in romance books. I never connected with the characters even though I enjoyed Sam. I felt like the author was trying too hard in the writing and gave the characters an uppity feeling that I just could not enjoy.

But on the other hand I have never heard of a male character getting to know the female character based on a game board. (Yep you read that right). So I decided it was different enough to give the author credit for that.

This is a LoveSwept classic originally from 1987. Maybe that makes the difference.

A Renaissance man eagerly pursuing new experiences and reluctant to settle down , Sam Lawrence finds himself captivated by Brittany Winters, a woman who finds comfort in her familial and social ties that bind her to her hometown. As their relationship deepens, it is threaten by their different visions of the future. Brittany cannot imagine ever leaving her home town, and Sam cannot imagine staying in one place. Each must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to hold on to each other. While I enjoyed the book enough to finish it, I had a hard time accepting the characters and the story. After being hurt, it seems implausible that Brittany would become involved with a man who openly admits to wanderlust, and Sam was a bit too charming and glib.
