All The Places I Wish I Died

Rate this book
Between the Midwest & the delta.   On the bank of the shore & the ice of the lake. Between love & nostalgia. Beside the toad & the squirrel. Between loss. Next to a stranger. In the scent of grapefruit vodka seltzer. Between the sunrise & high noon. In the shape of the bed in the shape of my former body. By the edge. All the places I wish I died.

Crystal Stone's voice in this poetry book is very impactful and emotional. Overall the book was amazing and felt like I could relate to it. There was a lot of emotional abuse used in the book, as if the people within the book are trying to get over depression by using different coping systems. There is also joy within the book but there is more of an emotional tug of sadness hidden within the words on the pages. Her voice is used in a way to draw you into the book and makes you eager to continue to see the advances of her poetry through out the book. The poem "To The Women Who Fells No Pain Due To A Genetic Mutation" was very impactful to me because her voice is so strong through out the poem. The collection of poems through out the book made me feel very emotional and open minded. It is an amazing book and would recommend it to college students like myself to help expand their mindsets.

A collection of poetry written with an earned style. Unflinching, adamant, sympathetic, and introspective are some adjectives that match these poems. At times prosaic and imagination fuel, others punchy and diligent lines. A sophomore release thats likely Stone’s finest.
