This strictly optional purchase is best as a gift for home cooks who are obsessed with maple flavor, or as a regional-based fun gift. Most recipes, and especially all baking recipes, require cane sugar in addition to maple syrup, so this isn’t a cookbook for people trying to eliminate white sugar. No recipes seemed truly stellar, although I did write down one for salad dressing. Readers hoping for recipes that eliminate cane products should look elsewhere.
