This was exactly what the title claims. I bought this when looking for my normal sword and sorcery/space sci-fi fare hadn't provided anything to pique my interest. I enjoyed the simplicity of the story the author obviously worked very long and hard at and relatively easy manner all the characters were tied together with some fluidity. A difficult task but accomplished with without any hitches from what I am able to tell. I'm definitely recommending this series! A great little YA series!
I read the Brindle dragon books then made a conscious decision not to read any more by this author as I don't like to read emotionally draining books for my escapism. However, when I was looking for new reads, I knew the author was familiar but I didn't remember WHY. Had I remembered, I would not have been at all tempted. I prefer action and humor without all the angst-y, emotion-pulling drama that goes on and on and on. These books have all those qualities and the author enjoys playing with time. The ending is delightful and the entirety is well-thought and well-written. I am thankful for KU since I would never buy books like this for a re-read, but despite my personal preference I have to give this series 5 stars!
This book was hard to follow. Didnt know which characters were talking. Took too long to read. Should of had more discussion about the Black dragon, ad title was about Rise of the BLACK DRAGON.
Hard to follow characters. Didnt know who was talking. Should of had more about the RISE OF THE BLACK DRAGON as the title said
These books are great fun to read. The biggest problem I have is the editing. Incomplete sentences, using the wrong name for a character but fixing it in the next paragraph makes me stop reading and go back. Going back to see what’s messed my enjoyment is not a good thing.
A good book. Kept my attention and made my cry at times. One big minus - this is supposedly 9 different books, but the story feels very incomplete at the end of each novel. Plan on reading the whole series in one go. If you read just one book of the series, you will feel cheated.
It was a decent read, and somewhat entertaining, but the writing style needs some work. There are several places where it was confusing who was there and who was talking. This was partially do to typos (the wrong name MUST have been typed), but other times because it simply didn't say who was talking. I also hate when names are so non-English that I have to stop and figure out the pronunciation each time I see them.
As for the premise, for a books about the RISE of the Black Dragon, the series ends with the dragon still being a "teen" and not even rideable. And of course it had to have a fairytale ending where almost everyone is brought back to life. I guess that is nice, but it kinda invalidates everything the reader has gone through.
PS: Just found out that "Rise of the Black Dragon Boxed Set" probably should have been read first, since those events are talked about so much in this series.

I enjoyed reading this box set. I love dragons, the box set was amazing. It has everything in it, action, humor, a love story, fighting, tragedy and of course rebirth. When the fate of work is in jeopardy, the only people to save it is a group a gifted children, a God woman, an ancient witch and dragon riders. There's a lot of excitement, mystery and betrayal. What stuck out the most to me was a little desert girl, who was treated so bad had an ancient spirit in her. She's captured by slave runners, she freed them and broke up the slavers network. She's befriended by a young boy who tries to help her, they form an unbreakable bond. They save each other's life and set off on a journey to their true destiny. Both teenagers were treated poorly by everyone and yet they saved people that were in danger and helped save the world. They overcame everything but they survived and gained a huge family.
This series is excellent! A group of people that are selected to be vessels by the ancient spirits, to be freed once again into the world. But of course there are dangers, evil entities, betrayals, and plenty of magic. Ukrah and the others must endure constant fear, but a group of heroes help them along the way to try to figure out what they need to do to release the spirits and defeat the evil that wants to remake the world anew for themselves. An extremely interesting, exciting and enjoyable read !!!
Fighting to Survive through Judgement of others In World of Magic and Dragons
I gave this series a rating of 5 because I loved it. It had good moments and very sad moments but in the end it had an unexpected happy ending. Judgement was based on what the previous black dragon rider and black dragon did, not of the new black dragon rider and new black dragon. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves dragons and magic. I hope everyone enjoyed reading this series as much as I did.
After reading The Bridle Dragon series, I did not expect to witness an author evolve as much with this series. Brindle Dragon was very good, with a well developed protagonist. It fell a bit short or being truly outstanding, though. This time around, the author hit that mark with several deep and identifiable characters and a fascinating plot that kept a reader guessing. I felt more in tune with the world Ms Fisher built here as well. It's amazing to witness such palpable growth in a writer.
I read them all, from the first Brindle Dragon book through the last Black Dragon. Jada Fisher has created interesting characters, but the time travels are confusing. It all ends happily, though, and the dragons have cute personalities. It helped that the books were clean.
As a former English teacher, I found the grammatical errors highly distracting.
I have loved sharing the lives, first of Eist and her circle of friends, and now of Ukrah's group of adventurers! Now I find myself hoping for the story of Eist's parents. Maybe you'll write it for us? A woman can dream! Regardless, I thank you for the hours upon hours of enjoyment I felt from reading your books. I am a fan.
Compelling tale. Has dragons ,magic, old spirits and twists and turns to keep the reader thrillingly engaged. Best read as a series as the cliffhanger endings could become a little much after individual tales.Clever, related to last series but can be enjoyed as a series in its own right.
Absolutely enjoyed everything about the series. The plot, characters and the imagination. I’m a big fantasy reader and it’s rare to find something that feels new, and draws me in. This was that, new, engaging, surprising and thoroughly entertaining. I’m also a little in love with Crispen :)
There were some really sad happenings but were necessary to the flow of the books. A fast moving read with a great number of interesting characters! I was very happy with the ending - but not to ruin it for others - this kind of ending is important for my enjoyment. I recommend this series to anyone who loves dragons and ageless spirits!
I mostly enjoyed this series. The story was good, especially the first half. The twists in the second half were rather odd, but were resolved at the end. This series DEFINITELY needed to be proofread! It was distracting to have so many errors in the story.
Had Fisher is without doubt the BEST Dragon writer I have ever read! It was almost painful every time I had to put it down. I looked forward to pick it up and start reading again. I never expected it to end this way. Jada is a great story teller as well as a great writer!
What an amazing experience. Thanks for the incredible journey . Was sorry to get to the end of this epic story. I so enjoyed following the journey of these brilliant characters. The story had me hooked from start to finish. A refreshing tale of hope, love, family and excitement. A tale of comradery ,good over evil, and magic. What else do you need in a good book.
Well what a series? I do not think you could read one book to be able to write a review. This has to be read, from start to finish a very captivating plot with many twists and turns. The central character is so gripping with a growth I have never seen before.
A great story line up there with "Anne Mcaffery Dragon Sagas."
This series was a complete delight I couldn't put down. I loved the characters, the development, even the relatable quirks and humor. For many dragon and fantasy lovers I would call this series a must read. To be honest I wouldn't mind a follow up of just their lives after the ever after knowing they more than earned every bit of peace.
*Spoiler alert* Don't read these again - entirely too much and too many chapters of senseless and continuous violence. This was also really sad for most of it, only resolving due to time travel that was unsatisfying. I liked the idea of the vessels in the storyline, but it was too much fighting and battles throughout the books, even more so than the Brindle dragon set.

Loved this story. It had everything that I enjoyed tremendously. There was. Laughter and drama there was romance. What more could I ask for. You have made me a solid fan I would recommend Jada Fisher to anybody who loves dragon stories. Thank you.
It doesn’t come across as too professional- rife with minor errors- and the quality overall is average. However. It’s so fun! If you don’t take it too seriously, it’s a properly enjoyable read for those times when you’re bored and want to pick something up for ten minutes.
(Also Lystri, my beloved, you did not deserve that fate.)

I love reading the entire story but also hate for it to end. The adventure was so exciting and I had to pay close attention to all the twists and turns. This boxed set was just wonderful.
Another wonderful series by Jada Fisher! If you enjoy dragon stories this is a must for your collection. And be sure to also read the Brindle Dragon boxed set as well. Spend the money they are worth every penny.
Absolutely amazing book series! I stayed glued to it the entire time!
There isn't a single slow spot in the entire series! I laughed, I cried, I crossed my fingers and toes! Lol everything about this story was amazing! There's no other word for it.
I could not put the book down. I appreciate the fact that the story stays with the main characters with no secondary story lines ( which makes the reading of such abook tiresome).
This boxed set has been an amazing adventure from the beginning. I hope we will see Ukrah and Crispin’s story in the future. A very well written set of books which draws you in that you never want to stop reading.
It was a good read with details about the lives of some of the characters. I think it could definitely be expanded on and go in to more details with some of the others. I enjoyed the read
I’ve laughed, cried, blushed, and scowled countless times thanks to the well-developed heroes and villains. The story took so many turns and made me appreciate the ingenuity of the author for such an interesting end/final book.
