The balance between romance and sports seems to constantly elude the artist as this manga never fully satisfies for either. By the time the story has shifted between scenes with all its extensive cast, it just feels like an old-fashioned soap opera, leaving you anticipating that something is surely about to happen while nothing ever really does. I mean, it's not unpleasant, but I'm getting a little frustrated with everything just going in circles or treading water as Chitose and Kokoro cycle through their on-again, off-again romance.

The big thing this volume is Kokoro discovering that ~gasp~ there are gay men in figure skating. And we finally meet his rumored fiancée who has been teased for a while now. As I've mentioned before, the supporting cast is immensely more interesting than the leads.

I'm sticking with the series for now, but I could see it dropping off my radar without some sort of shake-up in the near future.

I really love this series. A slow burn romance with a professional figure skater and his childhood friend. This particular volume came off a little bit weaker for me then previous volumes. I was hoping for more interation between our female and Male lead and I feel there was less of it in this volume in comparison to other volumes of this series. I still really enjoyed it though and can't wait for the next volume to be released.

Great series. I miss ogawa’s messier art in the days of Kimi Wa Petto, but it’s still good. Glad US publishers are still bringing over Josei titles in general. But yeah, it’s great. The drama continues. So does the skating. Love it.

I love this ridiculous series. It's basically a soap opera version of figure skating and I live for the drama. This one ends on a pretty solid cliffhanger, so I'm excited to see where we go from here.

This volume adds a lot to the backstories of the other skaters involved in Kokoro's life, from brothers turning on one another to a potential gay relationship everyone is quietly keeping under wraps. Add to that Kokoro's sister having a crush on one of his rivals and secretly acting upon it, as well as Kokoro and Chitose's usual yo-yo relationship, this volume is chock-full of back and forth secrets and white lies. They also introduce what seems to be a Trans character at the end of this volume, which is pretty cool. I also love the new addition of the Russian figure skating star who is flawless on the ice but constantly falling over and running into things off of it. Stupid dumb nosebleeds make me laugh every time.

This is a great series if you need something light and silly with romance built-in. I love what an absolute sap Kokoro is, especially compared to the stoic nature of a lot of manga-leading men. Kokoro wears his heart on his sleeve and it makes this series feel so refreshing.

Today's manga post is on Knight of the Ice, Vol. 6 by Yayoi Ogawa. It is 176 pages long and is published by Kodansha Comics. The cover has Kokoro in a new skating outfit. As it is the sixth volume in the series, you need to have read the first five volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who is interested in sports love stories. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this series. The story is told from third person close of the main characters. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the manga- EASIER SAID THAN DONE

Review- Chitose and Kokoro are getting closer but he is worrying about getting into the Olympics when he gets injured. it causes some friction with other skaters but the important thing is the arranged marriage of Kokoro. This continues to be a fun series. With interesting characters and lots of drama, both on and off the rink, I am having a good time reading this. The art is good, the setting is unique, and the characters are fun. It also has some good representation of LBGT characters. I look forward to the next volume.

I give this volume Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Ngl one of the subplots in this is giving me flashbacks to my dumb baby 11 year old self who had no shame reading figure skating RPF on ao3 when like 90% of them were either V/M or Yuzuvier and I didn’t like either of those ships which is BESIDE THE POINT but anyway this gets extra points for the accidental triggering of the nostalgia center of Sarah’s brain

Still feels like we are only kind of an ice skating manga and kinda a romance novel. Neither storylines are deep enough. However I do like that the Canadian guy is really stepping up as rival in ice skating. Can we please get more in the romance? The otaku stuff is still very cute.

Maybe I’m just losing interest now? Too much skating, not enough peopling.
Liked the lgbtq+ characters

Se and Kokoppe are getting a long better! More communication! Yes! And there are some surprising relationships between side characters in this volume as well. Ohhh and the usual cliffhanger!!!! Ugh

This is about Kokoro and Chitose. Kokoro is a male figure skater and childhood friends with Chitose. This was better as they actually communicated and we learn more about the fiancée. But didn't love the cliffhanger ending, especially since I'm fully caught up.

Loved this volume. More lighthearted than the 2 previous ones.
I love the direction Kokoro and Chitose's relationship is taking, and I was entertained by the events in this book. Also, while the art style isn't my favorite, some of the drawings were so stinking cute! Love, love, love the snow globe picture :) Can't wait for v. 7 to come out!
