The Olympics are drawing closer, and as Team Kijinami doubles their efforts, Kokoro’s rivals are making their own preparations. Meanwhile, changes are afoot in everyone’s love lives. When Chitose’s heart condition acts up in the middle of all this, she decides to hide the news from Kokoro in an effort not to worry him. But what will happen when her secret-keeping leads to doubt and mistrust?
This is such a fun, cute series but holy crap there are now (by volume 7) so many characters that I struggle to keep them straight. I am eternally thankful for the little character summaries at the beginning of each volume, but even then I forget how these characters relate to one another half the time. I think because there are so many side characters and stories now, we're missing out on Kokoro and Chitose as a couple since there are so many other plot points we need to focus on, which makes me a little sad.
I do love all the characters in this. The author does a good job of making everyone flawed but understandable, so you don't outwardly hate any character, even if they're portrayed as more villainous. The only character I don't like is Sawada, mostly because he hasn't been presented with any redeeming features and he clearly has questionable intentions by constantly hitting on his employee.
This volume felt more like a building volume compared to some in the past. Kokoro is changing up his outfits and routine, everyone is practicing for tournaments and performances, so there's not a lot of big-time plot tension, just smaller character-building moments. I do love how his new program involves him being a knight when his entire arc so far is trying to make himself good enough to date Chitose who he views as a princess. It's cheesy and cute and exactly what I was in the mood for today.
I am enjoying this but still, it doesn't lean enough in to either the sport or the romance plot line i feel like. I do think the otaku sub plot is funny to me. I also like the team member/ sister sub plot. Honestly I don't love his manager but she does seem to be the only one with brains. The rival subplot seems to be developing further as well. I do think the miscommunication troupe over the same thing is like eeekkkk
I love the figure skater type setting we have in this. I love both of our love interests, but I feel like this lacked some of the steam of the earlier volumes. I wish we could stop playing at a relationship and move on to finally start developing one that is closer and more intimate.
At first I felt this volume dragged a little, but the ending picked up. I'm still really liking this series and looking forward to more volumes. I think the secret Chitose is keeping is going to blow up soon though.
Not the best volume. To be honest, I liked the series more when I was binge reading it before I caught up, and I feel like the conflicts are starting to rely too much on the miscommunication/lack of communication trope. No bueno for the long-term story. But I like Kokoro and Se-chan a lot, I love ice skating, and this whole thing is so cute and funny that I still find the series to be very good nonetheless. I liked what we saw of Raito and Taiga, and loved Kokoro being stubborn about his costume 🥰 Hope they start talking to Kokoro instead of trying to shield him and hurting him in the process.
