Nagatoro is a freshman in high school who loves teasing and torturing her older male classmate (Senpai). What is her motivation and why does Senpai put up with her? Does Nagatoro just want to create misery for Senpai? Or maybe she secretly likes him?
I opened my mail today to find this volume in the mailbox. I was more than a little surprised as I thought it wasn't supposed to be out until tomorrow. No matter, I'm enjoying the book I'm currently reading, I'll just give this a glance, put it down and read it later.
...
Well, I finished it.
I've said from the start that this was pretty much the ultimate guilty pleasure manga. I really shouldn't like it. As I've covered thoroughly while reviewing each book, Nagatoro is a bully extraordinaire and the level of cruelty she hits (especially in that first volume) makes for a shocking read.
But something happened along the way. This volume honestly... is almost light-hearted and sweet. While Nagatoro still torments our lead, it didn't feel anywhere near as mean spirited. In fact, most of it seemed like gentle teasing. It's very different from how these books started.
The comedy is consistently well done in my opinion (though I completely respect everyone who disagrees there... this is still very much not a series for everyone) and I love the way the artist portrays the more "evil" side of Nagatoro's facial features.
In terms of suggesting it... well, there's really no point. This is volume 5. If you've come this far, you know if you like it. I still do. Honestly, I found it one of the stronger volume's in the series. Also that ending... do we actually have a plot starting? Looking forward to the next volume. 4/5 stars.
Nagatoro and senpai are at it AGAIN (forever, it seems), as cosplay, dirty books, indirect kisses, modelling, video games, bento, and... first dates (!?)... are thrown into the mix of their daily routine.
These two should just get a room. Well, they have the art room, but it gets invaded by Nagatoro’s pals for the duration of the book anyway, so not quite what I meant.
This is a pretty typical outing for the series and that’s fine. It’s definitely fun and playful - Nagatoro and senpai are 100% into each other at this point, but he’s too awkward and she’s too unwilling to admit it. Every time she gets too close to her feelings she completely loses it (her thousand yard stare when she’s nervous/flustered is a great addition to her repetoire).
There are some really funny parodies in this volume that just come out of nowhere, but are a cute extra. I’d believe it if somebody told me that the first chapter is a Kaguya-sama riff; even if it isn’t, the energy is exactly the same. We also get a cute Attack on Titan sequence and the bento chapter takes a hilarious left turn into a Food Wars knock-off that brings some truly bizarre fanservice.
To my dismay, Nagatoro’s crew is growing on me because they give some needed friction to the proceedings, since Nagatoro is now frequently defending senpai against their taunting.
The newest addition, Sakura, is a real meddler, though I have to admit I loved the arc she ends up on with the video game club - it was a cute subversion of expectations and it was smart to have that mini-narrative running in the background.
I did find the dirty book story a bit grating because the non-Nagatoro females bag on senpai for being an asexual creature as if that’s a bad thing. I know it’s being used by mean people, but as somebody with ace friends it’s rough seeing it used as (basically) a pejorative slur. Not like high school is known for being broad-minded, to be fair.
3 stars - I like this series, wild noodle arms and all (I maintain that the artist is in love with those). It has its rough patches, but there’s a real heart to the relationship between our leads underneath all the mess.
Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, Vol. 5 (My Kindle Review)
Nagatoro and her girl group continue to pick on Senpai in his art club through his boring drink habits, weak libido and grades. The final chapter sees an interesting surprise when the class president threatens to end the art club unless they can get enough votes to keep the club safe. A- (91%/Excellent)
Yeah I didn't like this volume, Nagatoro is back to being mean without remorse. There was a part in the story were it could have progress Senpai and her relationship but instead it was one of her friends. She was getting stalked, so she needed him to go on a fake date, which just makes Nagatoro jealous.
We also get a new character, in the form of the art club president but she gives the presidency to Senpai only to come back later and demand that he leaves the club. It doesn't make any sense whatso ever as they seem to get along but like out of the blue there is suddenly a problem.
I'm getting the itch to drop this series again, I was really enjoying it last volume where Senpai and Nagatoro seemed have enjoy the fireworks together. Seemed to be getting into the romance but this volume just seemed like a major step back with everything being reverted, think I'll give it one more volume and then decide.
A compilation of Nagatoro being jealous of her friends stealing senpai. I hope they both admit their feelings for each other soon. This upcoming arc with the Art prez seems interesting.

This series remains adorably inappropriate. And late in the book the episodic short stories are put aside for a minute as a dramatic multi-episode storyline is introduced out of nowhere that puts the fate of the high school art club on the line.
It's been a while since I read volumes 1 through 4. I was expecting to be disappointed. I was not.
The author is doing a nice job of developing the story of the relationship between senpai and Nagatoro. They show that they care for one another but in subtle ways. I have volumes 6 and 7 and will keep going.
4.75 Stars. This was the most enjoyable volume since the first. It has a bit of everything I've come to expect from this series with slice of life, comedy and awkward scenes that hint at romance.
“You can’t just decide…that he’s not committed!! Even though he’s all alone…he’s always…always…been crazy serious about all of this!!”
She has finally appeared! The one, the only, art club President! (In true Nagatoro fashion, we don’t know her name at this point.) And with her comes the first real arc of “Nagatoro.” But before we get to her debut, let’s talk about the first third of the volume.
Nagatoro and Senpai continue to dance around each other, to the growing dismay and amusement of Nagatoro’s friends. (The chapter where Nagatoro tries to find Senpai’s dirty book in the art room is the perfect example of this. Nagatoro’s friends have a long, long road ahead of them.) I love how ever since Senpai has begun to push back a little at Nagatoro’s teasing, her flirting has just ramped up in response - even if she’s starting to “lose” as much as she “wins.” They’re both idiots with no shame when it comes to each other, so it’s fun to see them stumble and, almost accidentally, grow closer. Senpai is also letting his true feelings come out more and more and it’s the sweetest thing to see. However, Nagatoro is still not quite ready to go that far - at least until the art club President appears.
The President is such an interesting addition to the cast. She also has the honor of becoming the first antagonist of the series when she threatens to disband the art club and questions Senpai's commitment. We've seen small moments of Nagatoro and Senpai defending each other from unwanted attention or rudeness, but this is the first time someone has so blatantly confronted Senpai (in Nagatoro's presence). It was great to see Nagatoro stand up for Senpai so quickly - and not even be embarrassed about it! Senpai has been making little steps in expressing his growing feelings for Nagatoro, and it seems Nagatoro is about to make her own strides in finally being honest about her own feelings.
ATTRAPE MOI SI TU PEUX !!
Positif____ L'humour! Les dessins. Les personnages. Les situations gênantes et drôles.
Négatif____ Seulement 159 pages. Se répète un peu. ____ Phoenix ++
The story is shifting, though those with issues with bullying might be cautioned that Nagatoro Hayachi continues to be a brat and her trio of friends are still mean girls. However, it’s obvious that the relationship between Nagatoro and Senpai (whose name we yet don’t know — Senpai just means Upperclassman) is equalizing, leaving them both befuddled about it. In this volume the episodic development gives way to a longer story arc that looks likely to solidify Senpai’s confidence…or thoroughly wreck it.
The more Nagatoro leans into the "I really like Senpai" the more I enjoy it. Her teasing is becoming less mean, and more of a fun joke, and it's pretty obvious she likes him. Her friends are also very funny, and def know she likes him. If don't take it too serious this is a fun dumb manga filled with sexy jokes, funny situations, and a girl in love.

The quality of this volume compared to previous volumes really seems to have improved. Makes me wonder if there was an increase in the amount of assistance helping the main author. Either way, the volume ends with working towards a school festival arc and developments in the characters and their personalities.
Vedremo...
Again, super cute art and love the facial expressions. This is definitely a slice of life, as there is not too much plot, but it's a semi cute romp. There are some parts that are a bit over the top, but not too many so I would say it's worth at least checking out.
Another banger. The overarching story comes to its first real head in this one. Still as cute and funny as ever but the story is really ramping up and going to fun places. I have to go and pick up more of this one ASAP.
Always enjoy a new volume of this series💕 Nagatoro actually says something cool in this one. Also I find the large chest of the art club president kinda hilariously drawn.😅 I will be continuing the series.
Same thoughts as always for this series (fine but not as fun as Akutsu). Curious what will happen to art club in next volume/next chapters, but I'm not curious enough to jump for the next volume/chapters. Might continue, might drop, unsure at the moment.

Este tomo estuvo más simplón, las "bromas" que le hace Nagatoro al sempai fueron demasiado meh. Pero por otro lado se ve que si le interesa cuidar de él, con lo de la falsa cita de la amiga y lo de la presidenta del club
Nagatoro continues her relentless teasing of Senpai, but she's also falling for him and having to work harder to cover-up that reality with lies and deception of her dopey friends.
