DNF I couldn’t finish this novel because I hated all the characters. I did feel bad that when Erin was fourteen, her very strict Catholic parents caused her to rebel and start drinking too much and hanging out with a not nice guy, who definitely shouldn’t have been having unprotected sex with an underage girl. I also felt bad that she had no idea that sex should actually be enjoyable and—gasp!—maybe even loving and fun, and that she was too ignorant to understand the signs of pregnancy. She gave birth to the girl and was forced to give her up for adoption and essentially abandoned by her parents.

I felt bad that Jade, the daughter Erin was for to give up, has some developmental disabilities, which are possibly responsible for the fact she’s a pathological liar. Except for that, she was adopted by a very loving couple who forgive her for all the terrible decisions she’s made for herself. I know people who are adopted, and I’ve never met one who’s any more screwed up in the head than the rest of us who were raised by the parents whose DNA we inherited.

The fact that Erin felt she couldn’t tell her husband about what happened when she was so young because she thought he’d leave her makes me not like him, and the daughter she had with Tom is also awful (I liked her nerdy book worm son who is actually a nice human).

The writing style and characters just didn’t work for me. This will be released March 20, 2020. Thanks to NetGalley for the advance copy.

EXCERPT: Ah...the moment. There should have been a crack of thunder, the voice of God booming above the party music. But my destiny arrived in a small red envelope.

'I found this on the doormat,' Asha said. 'A birthday card, I guess. Hand delivered.'

'That's weird. Why didn't they knock?'

'It's probably a neighbour, having a dig about not being invited.'

'But we asked practically the whole street. Tom insisted. He said it would stop us getting complaints.'

Asha shrugged. 'I don't know, maybe it dropped out of a present? Anyway, I'd better go back to Holly. She's not in a good place.'

'I'll come over in a sec.' Asha thanked me and threaded her way back to the table. Without a second thought, I ripped open the envelope and took out a birthday card. I stared at the champagne glass overflowing with bubbles and the silver '40' in the top corner. But it was the message inside that made my heart jump into my throat.

Happy birthday, Mum!
With love from the girl you gave away

ABOUT THIS BOOK: All she wanted was the life they had…

It is the day of Erin’s fortieth birthday party. Pink and silver balloons drift through her garden, the platters of food are empty and the recycling is overflowing with empty wine bottles.

As Erin mingles with groups of family and friends, surrounded by love and laughter, she feels like the luckiest woman alive. She has no idea what fate has in store …

Then a little red envelope lands on the doormat and everything changes.

Inside is a birthday card from somebody she never dreamed would get in touch. Its message is a chilling reminder of the dark past that Erin has worked so hard to bury, a past that could put her precious family in terrible danger…

MY THOUGHTS: The Girl You Gave Away by Jess Ryder began well, even if the dialogue was a little stilted. And mostly the story was enjoyable, although there were parts that seemed sleazy and left me feeling grubby which were, to be entirely fair, necessary to the plot.

The plot was interesting, but I think would have worked better if it had been set some years earlier than it was when the attitudes to teenage pregnancy weren't so lenient as in the mid-nineties. I seem to remember that by then it was commonplace, and no one really cared. If this had have been set in the mid sixties to mid seventies, I would have found the attitudes and outcomes a lot more believable.

There was a lot going on in this book...relationship breakdowns, teenage pregnancy, adoption, kidnapping, blackmail, and mental health issues to name a few. Perhaps the author was trying to include a few too many things, cover too many bases. And instead of doing one or two things in depth and well, she has spread herself very thinly over too many different issues.

I expected this to be an emotional and heartwrenching read, but in the end I felt nothing for any of the characters.

I also found the ending totally unrealistic and annoying.

Here I was thinking that I’m on a winning streak, every book I read this year seemed to be 4 star and then wham this one came along and broke my record! It started off well and seemed interesting but it lost pace at about 25%. There are a few mistakes in the book with regards to the character names and it makes it impacts the plot unfortunately. I don’t think this qualifies as a thriller, the plot isn’t great and the characters are absolutely not relatable. It was hard to care what happened to them. When I was a child we had this game, it had 16 tiles with different pictures on it, you picked them randomly and narrated a story based on the picture you picked first- used to be a lot of fun but needless to say the story didn’t always make sense. Unfortunately this book felt like that. Like the author picked up tiles of attempted murder, blackmail, kidnapping, bad relationships, mental health issues etc. and just put them together to form a plot. The ending too was not satisfying at all. Overall I’d suggest skipping this book.

This is a gripping psychological thriller that had me hooked from the first few pages.
Erin receives a card on her Birthday from someone very unexpected and it brings her past hurtling towards her present family life with her husband and children.
Tom has always said he hates lies so Erin can’t bring herself to tell him the truth but soon it’s taken out of her hands.
The story flashes back to when Erin was a teenager and we learn what happened to her back then.
In the present day we see how a secret can quickly unravel someone’s life and the affect it has on the family.
I really felt for Erin and liked how the story came together with views from the past and present.
A great psychological thriller that will have you racing through the pages.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Having read a couple of Jess Ryder's novels before, with my first one being a bit hit and miss and the second being marginally better, I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. But THE GIRL YOU GAVE AWAY happily did not disappoint. While the concept of the direction the story is going to take is fairly obvious, there are plenty of twists and secrets along the way to keep you guessing. It's about secrets, lies and revenge on a whole new scale that you won't be able to put it down!

Erin Whitesteed is celebrating her 40th birthday and as she mingles with her guests she feels like the luckiest woman alive. She owns her own business, has a loving husband and two wonderful children who thrive at school. After being an unwanted surprise for her parents late in life and then falling in with a rough crowd, she now feels as if this is where she is finally meant to be. Her life couldn't be more perfect. Does that mean it could only get worse?

When her best friend Asha hands her a red envelope she found on the doormat, little does Erin know that the fickle finger of fate is about to drop a bombshell she will not see coming. Puzzled, she opens the envelope to reveal a birthday card with a champagne glass overflowing with bubbles adorned with the number 40 inside...and her heart jumped into her throat.

"Happy birthday, Mum!
With love from the girl you gave away xxx"

With that single message, Erin's past comes back to haunt her with a secret so deep she has kept hidden and now threatens to smash her perfect life and that of her family to pieces. And the card? It's from the daughter she conceived at the age of 14 and gave up for adoption. Twenty five years ago.

Why is her daughter suddenly getting in contact now? Is she wanting a relationship with her birth mum or is there an ulterior motive? How did find her - where she lived, her phone number, email address? And most importantly, how is Erin going to explain this to her husband and children who have no idea of her other daughter's existence?

Then there is Jade, Erin's now 25 year old daughter. She volunteers at a charity shop, lives in a hostel and claims her adoption fell through when she was just 7 and has since grown up in care. Erin, of course, is mortified that the baby she gave up to give her a better life had in fact an even worse one than she could have imagined for her. Jade is annoyed that her existence has been kept a "dirty little secret" from Erin's family. Is she ashamed of her? Embarrassed? Humiliated, even?

But little does Erin know that Jade has secrets of her own. Secrets that are about to shatter her perfect little world into a million pieces.

The narrative alternates from both Erin and Jade's perspectives throughout weaving the past with the present as Erin's story is slowly revealed and the reader is given an understanding into her past. But it's what happens in the present, influenced by the past, that paves the way as Erin's perfect life begins to unravel.

Erin is not a sinister or vindictive woman. Just a woman who was shamed for her past and worried about what those secrets might do to her family. However, I do think her choices were a little stupid. While I sympathised with 14 year old Erin, I had little sympathy for adult Erin in part when all she had to do was be honest with Tom in the first place. Especially considering she knew how black and white his perspective on things were and how blinkered he could be. She knew this and yet she failed to be honest with him from the beginning. Of course she had done nothing wrong - she just made a mistake and was given no option but to do as she had been instructed to do. But as an adult, she had the option to tell him...and she didn't. So I wasn't surprised by Tom's reaction to her secret, although I was disgusted by his behaviour afterwards. A supposedly good caring husband prior to it all coming to light is suddenly cruel, unfeeling and unsympathetic after discovering he's been deceived. As if it is all about him and without a care towards his wife as to why she had kept this secret for all of their married life. He even gave her an ultimatum prior to their wedding "Promise me you will never deceive me, Erin. I won't be able to deal with it. Betray me once and our marriage will be over." Charming. However, knowing that about him Erin should have come clean from the beginning.

On the whole, pretty much everyone behaves diabolically. Erin deals with everything in the worst way possible. Tom is suddenly unfeeling, uncaring and unsympathetic towards his wife of almost 20 years. Oli and Chloe show next to no loyalty to their mother. Oli decides to chuck in his studies to spite him mum whilst Chloe becomes an even more rebellious 14 year old. And Jade? Well, let's just say she is an enigma with a lot of issues. I didn't trust her from the beginning. Basically everyone makes a series of lousy decisions throughout the entire story that makes you want to just smack their heads together.

And just when you think THE GIRL YOU GAVE AWAY is going to be a predictable read, all hell breaks loose.

THE GIRL YOU GAVE AWAY is a taut, tense psychological thriller that had me turning the pages with such speed and kept me on the edge of my seat. The story was absolutely gripping from beginning to end filled with suspense, secrets, lies and deception that made the tension palpable throughout.

My only complaint was the ending seemed a little rushed and I was left a little confused as how everything actually ended up. The final twist that should have been a segue into another revealing part of the story really just flopped into nothing, leaving it all in an unsatisfactory conclusion. It was this that dropped a star off my rating and apart from that, it was an enthralling and compelling read.

A thrilling suspense-filled tale, THE GIRL YOU GAVE AWAY is a mixture of psychological thriller, domestic thriller and family drama all rolled into one. Perfect for fans of Sheryl Browne.

Recommended for thriller fans who love a domestic tale gone wrong.

This book had all the subplots of a thriller with attempted murder, kidnapping, revenge, false identity, secrets, lies, infidelity, teenage pregnancy, blackmail. I was quite taken aback at the roller coaster that these subplots converted the book into. I had fun with it.

Being on strict bed rest due to illness, I needed something to distract me from the aches and pains. And Jess Ryder helped me forget all that. I enjoyed the absolute change in direction thus book would take in every chapter. I even wanted to tell the characters not to bother fighting with what Ms. Ryder had in store. Let it happen. And it did.

Erin became pregnant at 14 and had a daughter at 15 who was given up for adoption. Cut to 20 years hence, she had a loving husband and children. On her 40th birthday, a hand written noted arrived on her doorstep from the girl she gave away. About whom the new family especially the husband knew nothing about. The fun began.

I have read nearly all of this author’s books, and each one was fun. This too rocked me up with the different directions it pulled me into. I didn't like any of the characters, but felt a sadistic pleasure at the way they treated each other. OK some part of me was horrified too. The masks worn by the righteous were removed at the right time which shocked me completely. I too wanted to kick asses. Literally.

The book distracted me, was easy to understand, even with different characters, I never had a problem keeping them in track. The writing was choppy as it needed to be, the dark psyche of all the characters was shown. I don't think the author soared any. Let me think if there was a kid in the book.... Hmm nah nada... The only time anyone was innocent in this book was at birth...

Soem parts of its especially Erin with her best friends Holly and Asha felt like Desperate Housewives but more wicked. So I liked the series, I liked the book. Fun times.

This book sounded like a winner, but turned out ok. It had an interesting plot, but it just dragged along. I didn't think the characters were realistic and it detracted from the story. The ending was not very good either, it was unsatisfying. I have read this author before I enjoyed her books, but this one was not for me. I will read her in the future though.

Erin has her fortieth birthday party all planned. It will be more than perfect, despite a eerie feeling that something just might go wrong. For starters, Erin has been getting little things that bring up unpleasant memories of her past - and she has hidden these things from her family. When she gets birthday card on her doormat, it is not like the others. Instead, her past has just landed right in front of her. This card, and the other reminders she has received, just might prove to be the undoing of her perfect little family.

The Girl You Gave Away is indeed a taut psychological thriller that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. The secrets and lies that Erin held onto were delivered in a past and present manner. The past shows that Erin got pregnant while a teenager and gave her daughter up, and this is something she never shared with her family. When her daughter shows up at her birthday, Erin's careful life begins to unravel.

Erin never presented as a dark, sinister woman, just a woman who was shamed of her past and who worried what her secrets might do to her family. Conversely, Jade, her long-lost daughter, is not what she seemed and was most certainly the type of character I would never like to meet.

There were several disturbing factors in this book which did garner my attention, but often made me cringe. I was, however, able to be shocked at the real truth of the matter and, although I wished more of a satisfying ending, I couldn't put this book down.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Review for 'The girl you gave away' by Jess Ryder

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Bookouture publishers

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it most definitely won't be my last! I've already added all her other books to my wish list.

This book dragged me straight in from the first sentence right to the end!! A true page turner!

The plot was absolutely gripping and filled with suspense, tension, lies, love, friendship and was an excellent psychological thriller. I thought the storyline was also quite unique.

It is extremely well written with excellent descriptions. The characters are all very strong, interesting and compelling. I really felt that I was "in" the book.

I thought I had worked out the first twist, in a way I did but not completely so well done on fooling me there!! There were loads of twists and turns which just kept me glued to the pages.

I did not expect the ending at all and OMG did Jess leave this book with an ending. Sooooo many questions left unanswered!!!! I normally HATE that but it just felt right in this instance although I would love to find out what happened!!!

I love the fact that the book is based in the UK being as that's where I live but I also loved that it just kept me guessing. There's nothing worse when you figure it out straight away especially with a crime novel.

THE book is told from Erin and Jade's perspectives. I like it when you can see what's happening from a few characters as you can see more of what's going on.

The storyline flows easily from past to present. Mainly told in 2020, the date from where the book started and from when Erin was 14 years old.

I would HIGHLY recommend this book to ANYONE looking for a good read, especially fans of psychological thrillers, suspense, crime and mystery.

A HUGE well done to Jess Ryder on gaining a new fan, looking forward to more of your books!!

340 pages

£1.99 to purchase on kindle. I think this is an excellent price for this amazing book.

Rated 5/5 ( I loved it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Co.uk and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

Erin Whitesteed has reached a milestone in her life - she is turning forty and has planned a magnificent birthday bash. Now, the recycling is overflowing with empty wine bottles, and pink and silver balloons are drifting through her garden. Successful, professional nursery owner Erin feels loved, happy and contented, surrounded by her wonderful family, loving husband Tom, and her teenage children, Chloe and Oliver. But then a red envelope lands on her mat containing a birthday card and a handwritten note which will change her life forever...

The Girl You Gave Away by Jess Ryder kept me guessing pretty much all the way through. The author's characterisation was impressive - even though I regularly changed my opinion about the main characters, Erin and Jade, along the way, but it didn't matter as there was still some connection there. This was well-written, compulsive novel that worked for me, although I had to suspend belief on occasions. All in all, a fast paced, dark and exciting read, with drama and suspense by the bucketload.

I'm already looking forward to seeing what Jess Ryder has in store for me next time.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Bookouture via NetGalley at my request, and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

As Erin mingled amongst the guests attending her fortieth birthday party, basking in the love and laughter swirling around the air in the marquee, she felt like the luckiest woman alive. She was the owner of a nursery for pre school children, had a loving husband and two bright teenagers who were doing well at school.  All was good in Erin's world but little did she realise that the fickle finger of fate had decided that Erin's life needed shaking up and was about to throw a human sized spanner into the glass of her picture of perfection.

The contents of a red envelope that is discovered on her doormat chills Erin faster than the coldest glass of champagne. The past that Erin has worked so hard to keep hidden has finally caught up with her. Erin has a secret, something that could smash her perfect life into a million pieces and endanger the lives of her beloved family.

The chapters of this enthralling thriller alternated between Erin in the present day and Erin when she was fourteen years old back in 1994. I can't say that I felt any sympathy for adult Erin, I couldn't understand why she wasn't completely honest with Tom from the beginning of their relationship, especially considering she knew how blinkered he could be at times. It wasn't as if she had actually done anything wrong in the past, yes she made a mistake but she had no control over the outcome, she simply wasn't given any other option apart from to do as she was instructed. I also couldn't understand her behaviour towards poor Chloe, you would have thought that Erin would have remembered how unfairly treated she felt when she was Chloe's age and not been so hard on the poor girl. The author's portrayals of Erin's fears, anxieties and battles with her conscious over what to do for the best were realistic and believable. I felt a lot of empathy for younger Erin and fully understood the reasons behind her rebellious behaviour and how she was so easily deceived by bad boy Dean. I really didn't like Tom for various reasons. I felt a lot of empathy for Oliver, trying to study whilst his life was falling apart around him. As for Chloe, for all her teenage angst she certainly showed a surprising softer side to her character as the story unfolded. Interspersed throughout the book was chapters that were voiced by a character called Jade, a complex character who had some serious issues. I spent the whole of the book trying to decide how to I felt about her. But who was she and how did she fit into Erin's story?

As readers have learned to expect from Jess Ryder's outstanding, enthralling thrillers The Girl You Gave Away is a gripping blend of domestic drama, teenage angst and psychological thriller. It's a tale of mistakes, deception, secrets, guilt and lies that had unexpected twists and turns and some characters who were not who they pretended to be. I love Jess Ryder's books, she is a very talented author and her books are always very well written and cause the reader to feel a wide range of mixed emotions, The Girl You Gave Away is no exception. Worth far more than five stars and very highly recommended.

Many thanks to Jess Ryder, Bookouture and Noelle Holten for a arc of this book via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review. And for the opportunity to take part in the blog tour

I’m really surprised this has 4/5 star reviews! If you’re looking for a thriller & some excitement pass this one up, this is not for you! The concept of this book was alright but it stopped at the concept. Ryder definitely has the writing skills, she’s very descriptive with everything where it made it easy to visualize the characters & where they were, etc.. I like her writing style for the most part (got a little sloppy at the end I couldn’t tell which character was thinking/talking). This book was easy to read in the sense of reading (how Ryder writes) but not easy as far as keeping my interest, I had to make myself finish this book. A couple times I found myself thinking ‘ok something exciting is happening there’s a twist finally’...nope! To top it off I couldn’t relate to any of her characters, I didn’t like them (at all!) & didn’t care what happened to them. It’s hard for me to get into a story where I’m not rooting for someone in it, I need someone that I like while I’m going along with their ride.

For me this wasn’t a thriller but a messy overly dramatic ridiculous unrealistic family story of a 14yo girl starting life out wrong, bettering herself along the way & then having a tornado come through to make a mess - this one fell REALLY flat for me.

Thank you so much Netgalley & Bookouture for providing me with this book!!

I think we all know the feeling of hiding things were are ashamed of or fear the reactions of loved ones. You can keep secrets for a number of years, but not forever.

In this story we see that it would have been better to fess up and face the music straight away, because when you have to come clean later on the music only got louder and louder with time going by.

I do understand Erin and where she is coming from. She did not get a lot of understanding before, so she thinks she won't get any later on either.

On the other hand, I understand her family's point of view too.

I was disappointed when the book ended. I was not ready to say goodbye yet. The author created some intriguing characters and I would not mind a sequel to find out where she would take us next.

I was captured by the writing style and the heartbreaking story that kept me up till 2 am. 5 stars

Thank you, Jess Ryder and Bookouture

Erin is celebrating her fourtieth birthday. Happily married, with two teenage children and professionally successful with her own business, life is generally good.
That is until the day of Erin's fortieth birthday party when a little red envelope lands on the doormat, inside, a card from her daughter Jade. The daughter she got pregnant with at the age of fourteen and gave up for adoption. A secret she has kept to herself for 25 years.

Why is Jade suddenly getting in contact now? Does she want a relationship with her birth mum Erin or does she have some other ulterior motive? How is Erin going to explain this to her husband and children?

The story alternates between past and present from both Erin and Jade's point of view creating a complimenting story line to each other and giving a great understanding of how the past influences the present.

This was a suspenseful story that kept me wanting to read to find out what was going on! Full of twists and turns, blackmail, kidnapping and attempted murder that kept me intrigued about how this was going to end!

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Jess Ryder for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

It’s Erin’s fortieth birthday, and life is generally good - she’s happily married, professionally successful, and has two teenage children who are generally doing ok, even if fourteen year old Chloe is rebelling a bit. But Erin has a secret - more than one, in fact - about which she has never told her family, and when Jade, the baby she conceived when she was just fourteen herself, comes back into her life, the consequences are explosive.

Pretty much everybody here behaves diabolically, so it’s hard to engage your sympathies. Erin’s husband Tom, supposedly a good and caring man prior to all this, becomes unbelievably cruel after learning he’s been deceived. Erin herself deals with things in generally the worst way possible. Her children, Oli and Chloe, show zero loyalty to her. And Jade herself, who has a lot of issues, is a bit of an enigma, but you certainly don’t trust her. Everybody makes a series of atrocious decisions.

Jess Ryder doesn’t sugarcoat anything - the situation is pretty dark, but it makes for an interesting and unpredictable read. I really never had a clue what anybody was going to do next. (Usually the most ill-advised thing possible.) I did find myself very confused at certain points in the story, but it generally came together. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, which some reviewers disliked, but didn’t bother me unduly in this instance - I don’t necessarily need all the loose ends tied up, and it wasn’t hard to predict the likely outcome anyway.

An interesting read, and darker than one might expect.

I can't believe I continued to read this. I guess I thought it would get better. WRONG! If you pick this up to read, do yourself a favor, DON'T. I give all my books to my son's girlfriend, who reads all the time. I won't do that to her. It will go out with the garbage. Can't even bring myself to donate it. I want people to enjoy books.

Inside is a birthday card from somebody she never dreamed would get in touch. Its message is a chilling reminder of the dark past that Erin has worked so hard to bury, a past that could put her precious family in terrible danger…
A very enjoyable read. Good story. I was surprised with the ending. Hopefully there is more to come. 4*.

I have read one of Jess Ryders novels previously and thoroughly enjoyed it so when I saw this one on NetGalley I requested it straight away. The storyline opens with several thrilling chapters that pulled me straight in to the storyline which kept pace throughout.

I find the authors writing style captivating with many threads of suspicion running through the story. I find this to be one of the most appealing features of her novels.

The characters were well formed and could relate to Erin. Great characters, some I loathed but most I loved. Another great novel with twists I missed!

This was a suspenseful story where I thought I had part of it figured out, only to find out I was wrong at the end. Author Jess Ryder does a great job fleshing out the characters, and is very descriptive. I would recommend this book.

NOTE: If you read this book from NetGalley, the new epilogue is better than the first. I would recommend downloading the new version before the book is archived.

Thank you to Jess Ryder, Bookouture, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Erin is happily married, owner of a successful nursery. On her fortieth birthday she is enjoying her party with friends & colleagues when she notices a red envelope on the floor. It is a birthday card signed,'from the girl you gave away'. Panic takes over- will the secret she has kept for twenty five years be revealed & ruin all she has?

Before long Erin's world is crumbling about her ears. Her husband refuses to speak to her because she has lied about her past, her son - a clever lad trying to get in Cambridge can't study & her daughter is even more of a handful than she was previously. At least she can get to know the girl she gave away- that's a good thing isn't it?

This was a book the kept me reading whilst at the same time wanting to shake some sense into the characters! Erin should have told her husband at the start. She was definitely more 'sinned against' than 'sinner'-however he was/& is a sanctimonious twit, so maybe that was understandable! Although I was exasperated with Erin I did really feel sorry for her. Towards the end things seemed to get a bit out of control & I felt a bit let down, it seemed like the author was trying to add too many strands to the story.

Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

Going in I thought this book had a great concept. I was excited to know who sent the envelope and how the fallout was going to happen. As a reader I was able to anticipate all of the twists and turns so nothing really shocked me as much as I would have liked. I also felt like the ending left me with a lot more questions that were not answered through out the whole book. What happened to their marriage? What became of Jade? Did she get her money back? What other types of things did Holly do to make Asha say she lived a double life?

Thank you to netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I really like the way that Jess Ryder writes. There are no wasted words or ridiculous details.

The characters are well developed and real. So many thrillers have lackluster leads, no one to really fight for. Here, I felt for Erin and Jade, not that they were without flaws, but they were real.

There were some decent twists. I thought this would be pretty cut and dry when I started it but it was more layered than I thought. The ending is crazy, but then again,
maybe not.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.

2020 has had me in such a reading slump. I whipped through this book though and couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. I will say the plot twist was pretty obvious but still intriguing. I did find the ending less than satisfying.

An easy read but still has lots of twists. Would recommend if you want a quick read.

It was ok, nothing special and quite annoying at times. Would have liked to give it 3.5 but not possible. I finished it very quickly but overall was just really fed up with Erin, such an idiot that I could not relate or empathise with any of them. Shame, everything was there for a brilliant book.
