Josh I met the girl of my dreams in a church parking lot while my best friend was having sex in my truck. Her name was Layla and she was trying her hardest to ignore me, and them, from two parking spaces over. I swear, I've never seen someone so beautiful in my life. I've also never struggled to get the girl, but for some reason my foot and my mouth became friends that night in the worst of ways. Cheesy pick up line, that failed? Check. Inability to form coherent sentences? Check. Ego crushing let down? Yup. That happened too. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about Layla that sucks me in. I need to get to know her. Spend time with her. Make her mine. Who knows, maybe she will be the one to finally settle me down. That is, if I can convince her to give me the time of day. Layla Everything about Joshua Thomas screams, run away. His sharp jaw. Those vibrant eyes. Lush lips that have probably tasted every girl in this tiny town. I know better than to give him a chance, but knowing what I should do and listening are two different things. He makes my heart flutter in ways I thought only possible in Hallmark movies. He makes my legs shake from one look. I resisted him once. I don't know if I can do it again.
Bailey B is an up and coming New Adult author. She lives in Lehigh Acres Florida with her husband, twin girls, and two fur babies. She enjoys (but doesn't get to take part in because of her crazy daughters) the simple things like Disney+ binge watching, Netflix romcoms, reading and sleeping. She reads two to three books a week and thinks if narwhal's are real animals then unicorns might be too.
You know that feeling when you start a book just because you want to read while taking a break from another book that you're reading? Well that's it. This book is my break from Twilight.

STORY: This was a pleasant read and I consider it sweet that I think it gave me cavities. For me, this was one that got better as the story progresses. You’re reading a book of two people meeting, unsure, figuring it out and falling in love. Out the gate, I’m already curious because of the way Josh and Layla met. Also, not going to lie, Layla annoyed me a bit, because this was like a slow burn crush. Josh’s feelings were at a level 10, and we were waiting for Layla to play catch up at her level 3 as she was taking her time and being careful. Understandable, but took a while.
Josh, was so fine. The whole cowboy-ish thing was just a bonus. For a YA, it was different for me personally, and I liked that. Part of the appeal was his crush and attraction to Layla and trying to win her over. He is the big catch in that town, but he wants the one girl who is immune to his charm. Once Layla let’s go and gives in, I love them together. Of course, when they finally figured it out, here comes the climax of the story.
CHEMISTRY: Physical chemistry was likable. It was light, but nevertheless appealing.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS I don’t think this book was done intending to be a series. However, I did find myself really liking a few of the secondary characters.
Landon and Hattie - would love to see a story/novella on how they met and to know more about their relationship. I really like Hattie.
Sam - the infamous church parking lot backseat lover. I'm even curious about him and would like a story.
Kelly- where did she go?
Overall, this was a nice YA love story. It was sweet and appealing following the characters as they navigate their feelings that gave us an awwww kind of epilogue.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
[Thanks Netgalley for the ebook. This review is my honest opinion but just another opinion, you should read this book and judge it by yourself] No sé ni por dónde empezar con este libro, la verdad, no hay nada que se salve.
This books was a nice refreshing read from all the other books i've been reading. I like how i was easily able to imagine this 'world' as the author was descriptive. I could even imagine the faces the other characters were making. It was a really sweet read with a really sweet male interest that I enjoyed. I would def read another book by this author in between books whenever I need a little break from the stuff I usually read.
I received this free arc copy from netgalley in return for an honest review. Thank you!
This book had some cute moments and elements that I did like. There was a good looking, cowboy love interest who was super sweet and had many great moments. I did enjoy some aspects of the romance, it was a sweet story. I found that the book got better towards the end but unfortunately I still didn't enjoy it as much as I'd have liked.
I found Layla (the main character) really frustrating and she was very much a 'not like other girls' character which I'm not a fan of. I thought the book overall was filled with a lot of cliche's that I usually enjoy in moderation, but I think some cliche's were a bit overdone. I thought Josh was a great character, I just wish their romance was a bit more slowburn (however, that is personal preference!) as it felt as though the relationship went from 0-100 extremely fast.
The writing was very descriptive and it was easy to picture what the author was describing, but sometimes it was overly descriptive when it didn't need to be. I also found myself skim reading quite a bit as I didn't enjoy some scenes.
I really enjoyed this story. A bit of angst and a touch of drama made for a good read. This even had a touch of steam. I did feel the characters came across a touch younger than they were meant to be, but this contributed to their story. As always I enjoyed Bailey’s writing and I’m looking forward to whatever she brings out next. Pick this one up if you want a good quick heartwarming read.
This book was pretty good. I loved Layla and how she was still going to school and doing her best to get good grades and stay out of trouble. I loved Josh and how he took a liking to Layla pretty quick. I love how he never pressured her into anything. I hated Amanda and how she kept being a bitch to Layla but what happened to her also sucked. I was happy when Layla told Josh they were having a baby and how he asked her to marry him at the same time. As usual a great book by this author.

Josh and Layla story was deeper than I thought it would be. These two could enter a yo-yo competition and win. They go up and down emotionally like crazy and you can't help but go along for the ride.
Not going to spoil too much but it's definitely a deep sea dive within these pages. Not an easy romance at all. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
At times I felt like this book was predictable, but overall I liked it. It was a quick read and kept me invested in the story enough to make me want to finish and find out the ending.
Thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial, and the author for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.
This was cute but not very substantial, packing in a lot of misunderstandings and drama and "all the other girls are sluts" and speshul snowflakeness and angst and practically every other NA romance trope I can think of. IDK. It takes a really good NA romance for my brain to forget that I'm an Old Person and get swept up in the Young Person feels. This did not manage it.
I did appreciate the setting of the book: what seemed like rural central Florida (yes, Florida has rural areas, it's not ALL beach *eyeroll*). Definitely an underrepresented rural locale. And I also liked that the main characters are working, which is definitely realistic for NA people in general. But I wish the characterization had been a little stronger, for the MCs and especially for the side characters. Layla was the epitome of the NA speshul snowflake who is drop-dead-gorgeous but miraculously totally different from all those OTHER girls. Josh is the typical cocky hot guy who becomes an possessive caveman around his significant other. Josh's baby-mama-drama-llama is very one-note: she surfaces only when it's convenient to push the MCs apart. We barely met Josh's mom (all of once?) or brother (couple times, to drop a few one-liners), Layla's aunt makes a couple token appearances to lay down the law but is otherwise a nonentity, and Layla's parents are completely off-screen bogeymen. I'd try more by the author but I'd like to see her expand on her characters significantly.
I seem to be in the minority on this book though, so obviously YMMV.
This book is from a dual perspective between Layla and Josh. Honestly, the blurb hooked me on this read, and the cover caught my interest. The author's note at the beginning was fantastic. I loved hearing why she republished it under a different name and that some of the stories had some truth to her life. The chapter photos are excellent. Layla and Josh clearly have a history as Layla journeys back to a small town she knows she will run into him in. However, she seems lost in her thoughts and kinda hesitant to be going back. Unfortunately, the book time jumps between the prologue and the first chapter. Backtracking gives the readers some history but then doesn't catch up until the end of the book. This confused me a little.
Their history is fascinating, her fighting destiny and him fighting obligations. Unfortunately, he is super sweet and romantic and very smitten. But just as soon as things go right, they all go wrong. I did find some of the quirks in Layla's reactions intriguing and charming. Her character development was alright, giving the reader enough information to understand her a little bit. This book has a bunch of heart-wrenching moments before the happy ending.
This was a delightful romance. I love that Josh was sweet and that the books weren't too steamy. It was a nice mix of sweet and sad. I really loved Layla's characters trying to forge her own path. Yes, the romance was super slow and really didn't come around until the book's end. It took me a while to figure out the time jumps, but it was a great story.
Opposites Attract in this Sweet and Steamy Story of Young Love Bailey B’s “Falling for You” is one of those sometimes-turbulent new adult love stories that tugs at you and settles in your chest! At times, the story feels like it’s moving a bit slow, but I love the hero so much that it honestly doesn’t matter to me. I’m a hopeless romantic at heart, and Josh friggin’ stole it. Heart-tuggers left and right with this sweet and sexy country boy! He’s strong, handsome, hard-working, family-focused, and totally smitten with the beautiful, driven young heroine of the novel. Layla is extremely sheltered, and it shows; however, she is strong enough to try to take control of her own life, and I can respect that. There are twists and turns as they navigate their new relationship, and there are a number of struggles, but their intense chemistry and strong connection are evident throughout. With all that said, getting to the last few chapters and the epilogue, I just fell in love. And honestly, as rough around the edges as the majority of the side characters are, Hattie, Landon, and Sam grew on me, and they certainly provide some giggles and a couple of “Awww” moments. It’s a slow and steady story that inspired some tears, giggles, and sighs, and I promise you that the ending is worth the wait!
Gah! Falling for You is a delightful new adult romance. I am such a sucker for books like this, so of course I love it. But don't get me wrong. The storyline has some flaws and definitely mad me so damn angry at times. But who can resist a story with instant attraction and so many ups and downs. As for the characters, both had their issues and were struggling. Layla's life is a shit show and her family is evil in my eyes. The poor girl had no one looking out for her. Then there's Josh who's kinda stuck in a life on the farm. He's had to mature too quickly, but certainly lets off steam with the girls. Damn, Josh feel hard for her! Really hard. And oh my god, he was so damn sweet at times. I was swooning over his protective mode and his "all In" attitude. This is a story of him working hard to convince her to be together. It's a long battle and a hard fought win. Yay she finally gives in. Then BOOM, life threw Josh a major curveball, which set them into a major spiral. In the end, I love this book and the feelings this story evoked. I was in hook, line, and sinker. Their story is messy, has a lot of annoying moments, and could have been a little more developed at times. But, overall, the ending is just so damn feel good. It's a fun new adult romance for sure.
This book is my favorite type for when I finish a big series, or heavy book. It's an easy and quick read, and would recomend it for people on a reading slump.
With that being said I had some problems with the book. The main character is not very likable, she made some comments about Hatthie's weight (they weren't the worse the problem was the way she reacted when Josh offered some of Hatthie's clothes to her) and the Native costume on Halloween ( I'm brazilian so might not be the best to approach this subject) but it felt wrong, that isn't a costume and she shouldn't have been portayed as using that. Josh was the best character in this book, I really loved that one of his first line is him talking about being a bull-rider and later explaing he doesn't really ride anymore. Also the book just suddenly ends, I was really suprised because on the device I was reading on it said I was on 88% of the book.
This was gold for me:
""Hey there." Fucking, hell. What am I, sixty? Who talks like this? Why can't I be normal and just say hi"
Thank you NetGalley and BookGoSocial for giving me acess to read this book! (All opinions in this review are mine)
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a digital copy of this arc.
This book honestly caught me off guard at some points, taking turns I did not expect it to take (in a pleasant, but heartbreaking way). And it is always refreshing to read a NA book that doesn't have a complete idiot of a love interest.
This short, fresh love story is told between two point of views: Layla and Josh. I think this really benefitted the story and definitely the pacing. Both of the characters were likeable, you felt yourself laughing with them and feeling sympathy for them.
It starts off with Layla coming back from being away, scared of running into her ex-boyfriend Josh, and then from there the story goes into the past to tell us how it got to that moment, and then continues after they meet again. I found this to be an enjoyable choice of the authors instead of just starting it already into their broken up relationship.
Overall I enjoyed this book. It was nice for a change of my usual crs full of fantasy, plus it was not a long read at all (I read it all in less than a day).
Josh meets the girl of his dreams but Layla doesn't fall for Josh's charms straight away, which has quickly become a cliche in romances in contemporary romances, but it never stops you just waiting until the penny drops for the female love interest. The book often felt slow to begin with, as Josh was all in and Layla was more or less playing catch-up but the plot develops further as you read on. This is definitely a book worth reading when you want a feel-good, easy read to enjoy, and definitely one that you could enjoy in one-sitting as well. One thing I love about this book is that it is a dual perspective; I always engage more with the characters when there's a dual perspective as you can see how both characters are feeling and it often fills the gaps as well. But the book is full of cliches which can sometimes be frustrating for some readers!
**I received this free ARC from Netgalley for an honest review**
Layla and Josh meet when his friend Sam and Kelly, the girl Layla is hanging out with, get together in a parking lot to "get it on". Josh tries his usual pick up line on Layla, which doesn't work. They all end up at the beach the next day and Josh and Layla go off and have lunch together and get to know each other a bit. A few months later, she runs into Hattie at a fund raising event and gets talked into returning to the town Josh lives in.
Both Josh and Layla have issues that need to be dealt with. Layla has an ex-fiance who wants her back and parents who want her to go back to him and Josh has an ex who is causing problems for him. It's hard but they eventually get their HEA. Wish we could have a 2nd epilogue to see how they're doing further in the future :)

Falling for You by Bailey B a five-star read you will fall into. I enjoyed this story, but it didn’t feel as full as the other works I have read by this author, it took me a little while to get into, where as the rest I was hooked from page one. Josh and Layla have magnetism that pulls them together, no matter what is between them, or how far apart they appear. They face a long emotionally wringing journey, that may prove to much for them, but we all know what doesn’t break us makes us stronger, but it may break you before you reach the strength you need. This is a great story and I am so eager for what this author will do next, I can only hope there will be another cameo at the Red Onion, as that place has a special little spot in my heart.
Thank you NetGalley for providing a copy of this book.
I’m just going to start off by saying that I did not like any thing about this book, not one thing. The romance felt rushed and forced and there was literally no chemistry between the characters. Also the conflict that they had to go through at the end was resolved so quickly that I can hardly call it a conflict.
The best way to describe this book is a white boy holding a giant fish on Tinder. I felt uncomfortable and weird the whole time.
The romance went from 0 to 100 with no build up and I just hated the guy the whole time. I also just felt that both characters were shallow and annoying to read about.
Also there was a racist Halloween scene, so once I read that I definitely checked out.
I had a difficult time with this book as I didn’t feel any connection to the characters. I feel more back story about Layla and Josh would result in a better understanding of their motivations and goals. I also have little patience for teenage histrionics so I would not be the target audience for this book.
So many questions! Why was Layla working for her aunt given the fractious relationship they have? Layla was supposed to work over the summer but why not in another business? Since his Paw died, Josh had taken to working on the family farm. But did he take on the yoke of responsibility with pleasure or was under duress?
I received a free copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Bailey B. is the kind of writer that is able to suck you right into the story. The characters are flawed, sometimes broken or even beyond repair. And still, in the middle of all the drama and heartbreak, something beautiful will grow. This was my third book from Bailey B. and she hasn’t ceased to amaze me. Same as with Beautifully Broken, the characters Layla and Josh both have their flaws and their issues.
And although Layla wants to steer clear from Josh, it is his relentless pursuit that enables him to break through her tough exterior. But will he find what he expected? Raw, vulnerable and beautiful. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
While reading this book it became very clear to me that I didn’t like it. This story portrays the main character as attractive while making a jab at her friend who is 20lbs heavier than her, that alone doesn’t sit right with me. Please research the triggers before reading!! While the relationship between the main characters was sweet it was hard to follow who they were as individuals. As if the author wasn’t sure who they were either. This book is 18+ due to the few intimate scenes it contains. Overall I’d give this book a 3/5 stars, it would’ve been less but due to the very cute Epilogue and the relationship between the main characters being sweet I gave it an extra star.
Thank you to netgalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I really wanted to like this book, but sadly I was pretty disappointed with it. The synopsis sounded intriguing enough and I have a soft spot for a good looking cowboy love interest, but I honestly just couldn’t connect with the characters. Their romance felt too forced and seemed very surface level. Josh was sweet, but Layla was very much a “I’m not like other girls” type of girl and she was just a very frustrating character.
I did enjoy the author’s writing style and it did have some cute moments throughout, but I think overall I just wanted more from the story and characters.
The blurb hooked me on this read, and the cover caught my interest. The book is written from a dual perspective between Layla and Josh. Layla and Josh have a history as Layla journeys back to a small town she knows she will run into him in.
This was a delightful romance. I love that Josh was sweet and that the books weren't too steamy. It was a nice mix of sweet and sad. I really loved Layla's characters trying to forge her own path. The romance was slow and didn't come around until the book's end. It took me a while to figure out the time jumps, but it was a great story.

~ I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own ~
This was a cute story. I thought Josh was such a sweetheart and loved how his feelings were put out there on how much Layla attracted him. Their relationship grew slow, but they were so adorable together. Layla and Josh had such great chemistry together and I loved how they interact. There is a big obstacle that they have to work around to their HEA, and I couldn't help but to root for them to overcome it.
I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.
I‘m so sorry, but I had to stop reading at 57% and here is why:
- the characters are inconsistent of their behaviour and the way they think. I don‘t want to spoil anything, so I won‘t go into details but it infuriates me. - some people mentioned and their opinions are highly offensive and not very well written (e.g. the brother of the female lead). It makes me mad and not in a good way. Besides, the dialogues are cringey most times.
Overall, I didn‘t enjoy reading it so I will not continue.
I struggled with this book. I couldn't relate to the characters at all and I found the whole thing rather childish. I felt the characters came off really young but then you realise they are older and it's confusing 🤣 Small issues were blown up and I just felt things could have been dealt with a lot easier. I felt things were going on that wasn't explained properly or in detail enough. I get where the story was going or trying to go but it needed much more background to make it work. There was too much emphasis on things that didn't seem relevant by the end. Not for me sorry.
Enjoyable endless Intrigue! An enjoyable read with plenty of relationship, personal and family issues that play a huge role on intercepting their interactions as well as the future outcome for Layla and Josh. The story was well written and kept me intrigued with the outcome of the story. It's got a sweet side and plenty of rough patches with tempers that flare some irritated me and made me sad others had me giddy and fist pumping. its got twists, hot chemistry and an enjoyable HEA.
What a wonderful read. As soon as I started reading I was transported to a whole other place where I could relax and forget about everything that is bothering me. It moves along at a very comfortable speed. the characters are so real that you feel as though you know them and no matter what you cannot help but love them. the story grabs you and keeps you turning pages till you reach the end and then you need more. This is a must read, you will not be sorry that you did.
I enjoyed this book. Josh and Layla may have met in a weird way, and all Josh’s lines that usually work on women, don’t seem to effect Layla at all. Josh knows that he has to have her, and he will. Layla is fighting for her freedom, she is making deals with her parents to get it. One slip up and she’s back at home marrying her cheating ex. Will letting Josh into her life be that slip up or her way out.
