That’s the question former Army Ranger Steve Wolf keeps asking since he served time for a war crime he didn’t commit.
Wolf has been struggling to rebuild his life and ultimately clear his name, and when a path to doing just that materializes, Wolf finds himself being stalked by shadow-like foes who seem to know his every move. Unbeknownst to Wolf, his adversaries are being funded by the same wealthy sociopath who set Wolf up for the false war crime charges back in Iraq, and this rich man will stop at nothing to obtain a priceless artifact and see Wolf destroyed.
Following this trail to possible salvation, Wolf and his friend and mentor, Jim McNamara, find themselves facing a brutal gang of bikers as well as a group of highly proficient rogue CIA-trained killers. In a desperate struggle to save an innocent life and seize his last chance at redemption, Wolf must face overwhelming odds in a battle against the powerful forces that have tormented him for so long.
Absolutely fantastic. Fast Paced, full of action. Just when you think that’s it, they’re able to save themselves. I was completely hooked from beginning to end.
Merged review:
This was one intriguing story. Army Ranger Steve is accused of a crime he didn’t do. There are things he doesn’t know about this. Definitely suspenseful.
Steve Wolf is finally out from under the stain of a Dishonorable Discharge and a four year prison sentence served in Fort Leavenworth. Finally! But a lot has happened to him and his dearest friend and "savior" Mac McFarland that has also spilled onto Mac's daughter, Larry, and grandson, Chad. They have all suffered immense grief from the violence and death that has plagued them for months. Things are now looking up for all of them. The twists and turns and storyline kept me reading even when it was time for bed or work or church or whatever would otherwise keep me from reading!
Always a step ahead of the reader. Just when I thought one of the good guys was about to die, Steve comes through. Actions are credible, responses are believable and I could feel the endless tiredness of continued action. Highly recommend.
Very believable action writings, no Superman invincible stunts and contant self doubts when innocents or lloved ones are involved. I was tied when reached the end.
This was a great ending for an exceptional series. I have followed this author since I was in junior high school. I started reading The Executioner series then, however, I didn't know at the time that it was one of this author's pseudonyms. I would hope that there is a follow up to this book, so we could see how the characters succeed in their future endeavors. Thanks for such a great series.
I was surprised to discover that the author has both a bachelor's in English and a master's in Fiction Writing. So many sloppy spelling and/or typing errors.
The action was great but the errors became increasingly tedious and annoying.
Another winner although there was a bit of a twist that I didn’t see coming and wonder if those twists will have more twists in the future. Love the character descriptions and story line.
Our Heroes: returning are Former Army Ranger Steve Wolf; his mentor and friend, ex-Green Beret Big Jim McNamara, and their friends.
Opposing them: Foes that include Richard Soraces, a CIA killer who is after the stolen artifact that Wolf has; Dexter Von Diem, the man to whom Soraces reports; and a host of other CIA killers all of whom report to Soraces.
The story: Wolf figures out he has the artifact and exactly what it is that everyone wants and will kill him and anyone else who stands in their way. In the meantime, Soraces wants to trade with Wolf evidence that he was falsely charged if Wolf gives him the artifact. The question is: is this a good deal or a trick by Soraces?
Fasten your seatbelts because you are in for a ride!
