The Psalm on the CrossA Journey to the Heart of Jesus Through Psalm 22“My God. My God. Why have you forsaken me?”As he hung dying on the cross at Calvary, Jesus spoke these haunting words, which come from the opening verse of Psalm 22, a psalm written by King David over a thousand years prior. While the words depict the anguish of suffering, Jesus knew that the complete psalm was one of triumph and hope. The moment that began in darkness and despair eventually ends with a proclamation of confidence and victory. What a thought provoking look at Psalm 22. Roseberry 's words gave me a deeper look and led me to think upon the last hours of Jesus in the cross. It deepened my awe and appreciation for what Christ has done for us all
A must read for any Christian who is beginning their walk with Jesus. Or, in my case, looking for a deeper understanding of the symbolism contained in the words of Psalm 22.
This is an excellent look at a difficult, and often misunderstood, passage of scripture. I think it is especially relevant for our time. It was a joy to read, and a book that I will definitely come back to.
This was such a great study for Lent! It now seems so obvious, but I had no idea of the prophesy of Psalm 22 1000 years before the crucifixion of Christ. The verses were divided into manageable chapters that each opened my eyes to the final hours of Jesus' life.
Beautiful, Thoughtful, contemplative. A guide through psalm 22 as a prophetic and hope filled journey with Jesus to the cross. Easy to read, short chapters, questions at each chapter to journal through, and so much rich truth! Perfect lent companion.
