How's the song go? I'm just a soul whose intentions are good. Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood. It's my anthem. How did I get into this bad rap? You have to ask? A woman. A woman is always involved in the messiness of life. Times a million in my life. I should be on top of the world coming off a Frozen Four college hockey championship last season, but that was before the crash and burn. And now... the thing is, I don't care. Because she's worth every bit of the destruction of my life's ambition for an NHL hockey career. As long as I can prevent the blood-letting of my heart and soul. As long as I don't lose her. Again.
Doesn't anyone these days know how to write romances anymore? I would very much like to know why every writer these days feels the need to make the Hero a Manho/Douche and freeze the heroine. H & h in this story supposedly are "together" since 7th grade or something & heroine gives him her virginity when he turned 16 (I assume he was a virgin too? Author didn't say), then during their last year of HS, something tragic happens (. Hero leaves her to go to college not because he blames her for it but because he selfishly wants to starts over somewhere far, far away and experience the college life! Aka, f**k other girls.
So instead of sticking by the love of his life & supporting her (which he later states was a cowardly thing to do to her) or staying true to his "true love" & whom he states couldn't get over with, he dates & f**ks others. Yeah. How romantic and true love. Puhhhlease!!!!.. Heroine is of course frozen because she self loathes and can't get over hero.
Does he once call or go home to see her in those 3 years? Nope. Nada. Does he immediately call or go see the "love of his life" when he returns home? Nope. Nada. It is of course heroine who does the chasing and asking for 2nd chance - all while knowing he was with others in all of those 3 years they were apart.
Is anyone else tired of this crap? What makes these chicken shit "Heroes" & doormat heroines interesting? Are we readers suppose to think that this couple is "meant to be" when we are told that they have loved each other all their lives and made plans to marry but as soon as something bad happens, the douche couldn't wait to f**k others and would have never gotten in touch with her if she hadn't made the first move? THIS is their idea of a romance? Lol.
Bad Man on Campus: a Second Chance College Romance (Big Men on Campus Book 3) by Stephanie Queen is a new adult second chance romance. BUT it is not a happy tale. It is one story that will definitely make your heartache. I really like Stephanie’s work, the characters. I so wanted karma to get the male MC and kick his behind and then some and then I wanted to shake the female MC. But I still enjoyed it.
This is a great second chance romance that pulls on the heartstrings and does not let go. It’s a total emotional rollercoaster as we follow Kace & Glory and their story of tragedy and hope. A gripping storyline, fab characters and a little hockey makes this sports romance a great Read!
Bad Man on Campus (Big Men on Campus Book 3) by Stephanie Queen
4 out of 5
Kace Jennings is headed to the NHL, is president at the BMOC house, and is on his way to graduating with a degree. It has been three years since he was home, but his father’s wedding brought him back to his hometown and the place his life changed forever. He knows he should go see her but he can’t bring himself to do it. When she shows up, will he have the courage to tell her how much he has missed her?
Glory Rose’s life stopped 3 years ago. The accident changed everything. She is back on track and is trying to move forward. Glory heard that Kace was going to be in town. Glory decides to take this opportunity to...she isn’t sure. Is she going to tell him off? Can she tell him that she misses him? She has to let him know that she will be on campus with him starting in the fall. Glory owes him that much.
Kace looks forward to having Glory on campus away with him, away from the judgments of everyone that knows what happened. When Glory makes a bad choice, Kace covers for her. Kace’s world starts shifting as he appears as the bad guy. Is this what Glory felt? How do they move forward? Can they do it together?
Stephanie Queen brings this story of redemption and second chances to life with every word. You feel Kace’s struggle with his emotions and choices. You forgive Glory for choices outside of her control. You hear the screams and the metal crunching during the last crash. Stephanie draws you into their world quickly and easily. The characters are relatable and real. Stephanie is definitely on my list for future reads!!
Glory Rose has become a different person over the last three years. A traumatic accident brought an end to the happy girl that was in love with her high school sweetheart...and has changed her into a person that is damaged and uses alcohol as a coping mechanism. As she is getting ready to finally head off to SPU, she gets wind that Kace is back in town. She is determined to see him before they are both at the same school. Even through their shared traumatic past...there is still a spark...and they are going to see where it leads.
Once on campus, though...things start off bad and just get worse. As they try to see who they are after three years, there are situations that are testing if they will be able to actually make it work. While Glory Rose needs to get herself in order, she is also trying to make sure that Kace doesn't throw his own future away for her. The cards are definitely stacked against them...so are they strong enough to stay solid?
This book is so much more than a second-chance sports romance. It is about two people who have to face the past and heal in order to move forward. While Glory Rose tended to stand in her own way more than once...she seemed to mature and start growing by the end of the book. I understand Kace's need to protect her...and that led to his own kind of healing. Overall, I enjoyed the story.
Bad Man on Campus is the third book in the Big Men on Campus series by Stephanie Queen. Even though I have read a lot of Ms. Queen’s books now, this is the first book in this series that I have read, so I am coming into this series a bit backwards by starting here with book #3. Having said that though, this could definitely be read as a standalone- but my interest is piqued now and I will definitely be going back to read the other two books to discover what happened there and to see if there are any interconnected details that might follow through to this book. As expected from Ms. Queen- this is a well woven story, with interesting, complex, and fully developed characters who pull you into their story right from the beginning. It is a second chance sports romance, with plenty of emotion, heart-wrenching details of tragedy + grief, baggage, struggles, drama, romance, steam, chemistry, hockey, and more. Glory and Kace have a past history of being high school sweethearts- until tragedy struck. Fate has intervened by giving them a second chance- but Ms. Queen isn’t going to make things too easy for them. Get set for an angsty and emotional read about overcoming tragedy and taking a chance on love, again.
This is the 3rd book in the Bad Man on Campus Series. This is ok to read as a standalone alone which is what I have done.I found this story really sad and heartbreaking at times. But a good story through all the pain. The author does a good job with the characters. Glory has had a really hard time in her life. With an incident that happened in her past it sent her on a downward spiral, and when the love of her life left that was when she turned to drink to cope.
3 years later she is on the road to recovery from the trauma and also her alcoholism. Things are better and when Kace arrives back in her life this could be their second chance.
Kace left to deal with his own problems and his need for distance from everyone he knows to move forward. Now after a successful time as a hockey champion he has returned to get back the woman he loves. However time has changed and Kace's reputation as player means that the couple will have a lot of hills to overcome if they are going to be together. Hills and obstacles put in their way from the past and the present. Are Kace and Glory strong enough this time around to get through them and revive their love. Or will too much have happened and things not been forgive will that eventually tear them apart.
When Ben saw Jazzy he had an instant attraction but with her crass and stroppy attitude, can he try and break the outer shell of her heart and help her recover.
Ben is an all round good guy and being a jock and hot is always in the limelight, but when he sees Jazzy he instantly has an attraction that won't go away, the only problem is that she is a bitter, twist girl but can he try and uncover why she is so broken and try to heal her.
Jazzy has a past which she would rather forget but this has imprinted on her attitude and would rather push the boundaries rather than keep within them, but when she meets Ben he is the only person who has tried to help her but can she let him in or be allowed to love again.
I loved the story and the characters which are developed within this book. The story is hard hitting and delves into subjects which are not comfortable to read, but Stephanie writes with such passion and delicate that you at times feel sorry for Jazzy but with her attitude you could hit her aswell.
The character of Ben is lovely and although these two characters are different but still complement each other brilliantly. I can wait to read the next book in this series.
Bad Man on Campus: a Second Chance College Romance (Big Men on Campus Book 3) by Stephanie Queen
This is the first book I've read by Queen. Bad Man on Campus is a great read. Queen is an author I will be coming back to read more of.
Kace is a big man on campus and has been for three years. When he goes home for his dad's wedding he runs into a blast from the past. The one who got away. The quote I chose for Kace is: “No babe . We can handle this. You can get help. We’ll talk to Majik. She goes to AA and maybe she can sponsor you.”
Glory has had her life thrown upside down for three long years. All to help a friend out because she was drunk. Running into Kace helps heal her or so she's hoping. Glory can't stop drinking. The quote I chose for Glory is: “AA is too public . People will know. It’ll cause more problems for you . . . and your parents. I’ll handle this. I’ll stop drinking the nips. I’m not driving anymore. It’ll be okay. I’ll call my therapist. Or maybe I’ll talk to Dooley. He’s been a good friend. Thank you for introducing me, for asking him to take care of me.”
Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.
Kace has spent three years at SPU developing a reputation as a lady's man but never letting anyone get too close. He has secrets. Glory Rose has been treated as a pariah in her hometown for the last three years because of a terrible accident. They have a long a difficult road to travel to find their way back to each other and the love they once shared.
This story was not a happy story. I don't normally like to give anything away but I think this book needs to come with a warning. Glory has a drinking problem that becomes apparent pretty early in the story. Her road is very hard and has many bumps along the way. Some people might find this story tough to read. I did. I gave it 4 stars because I think it's a good story based in reality.
This book introduces new characters and brings back some old favorites. I was hoping that the "bad guy" would get a comeuppance but it wasn't necessary for the characters to find their happily ever after.
Bad Man on Campus (Big Men on Campus Book 3) by Stephanie Queen 4 Stars
This is more of a second chance to redemption story. Three years ago a tragedy occurred which separated Glory Rose and Kace. He went off to university and Glory got stuck in their hometown. His dad’s second marriage brought him back to town. Gaining courage, she meets with him and , to her utter delight, he’s happy to see her. She lets him know that she’ll be attending his university and he’s pleased that they’ll be together. Life isn’t exactly what they expected and university is fraught with difficulties. Life isn’t easy with one thing happening after another. Are they meant to be together or are the hurdles too high to overcome?
The story was interesting and well written. The characters were real and relatable. I was frustrated with Glory Rose. After everything that had happened, she was still making stupid decisions. I was so happy when she finally started to see the light. I enjoyed the story even if there was a little too much drama.
Normally I’m a sucker for a second chance, but I’m not quite certain Glory and Kace were at the points in their lives where they were ready for that second chance yet. Glory is still consumed by guilt for her part in the accident that cost Kace’s sister’s life. This caused her to make the worst choice in nearly every situation we see in this book. Kace is eaten up by guilt for the way he dealt with his sister’s death and that caused him to make a bunch of questionable decisions as well. This doesn’t sound like the recipe for a stable, healthy relationship to me. There were also several continuity errors that pulled me out of the book: names change, conversations are attributed to the wrong people, the legal ramifications of distracted driving are not as minor as are presented here, and AA would not have been impressed with the bombshell Glory drops at the end. I’m glad they got their second chance, but I still don’t think they were quite ready for it. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books as part of the boxed set.
Bad Man on Campus by Stephanie Queen is book three of the Big Men on Campus Series. This book is a second chance college romance and can be read as a stand alone.this book pulled me in from the beginning!
Glory has been the social outcast in town for years due to an accident. When she finds out Kace is home from St. Paul University she just has to see him. She doesn’t expect to get a second chance as easily as she did but knows there’s a lot to work through for the two of them. Kace has developed a reputation and a bit of a player, keeping everyone at arms length. Glory seems to have an alcohol addiction. Both have many things to work through in order for their second chance to work.
This book was an emotional roller coaster. You really feel for both Glory and Kace and the trauma they’ve been dealt. I know I was on the edge of my seat hoping everything would work out for them individually and together.
Bad Man on Campus by Stephanie Queen is the third and final instalment in the Big Men on Campus series. This series consists of standalone romance novels but is best experienced when read all together and in order. This series is based on an emotional hockey based romance series featuring different men from the team.
This book is a second chance college hockey romance between high school sweethearts Glory and Kace who are thrown back together years after the tragedy tore them apart. This book explores the heartaches and hardships life can through at people and the gravities they they must overcome to learn to trust not only others but themselves again. I highly recommend reading not only this book but the entire amazing series!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Bad Man On Campus is the 3rd book in the Big Men On Campus series by Stephanie Queen. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone. I had not read the previous two books in this series and did not feel as if I was missing any vital information to help me m enjoy this book. I have read this author’s work before and thoroughly enjoyed the Playing Series so was looking forward to reading more of her work. This book was a great choice as I really enjoyed it. I do like reading a book set in college/university and this is a great example of that. This is a great second chance romance that got my emotions going. Glory has been through a very hard few years having lost her best friend in a car crash and she’s still struggling. She’s now about to start college where her ex boyfriend, Kace, the brother of her best friend also attends. As much as my heart broke so much for Glory many times, she also exasperated me. I wanted to shake some sense into her and make her realise the damage she was doing to herself and how this was affecting Kace. I adored Kace and loved how he would do anything for Glory and was willing to risk all to keep her safe. This is a great book and I’d definitely recommend it to other readers.
Bad Man on Campus (Big Men on Campus #3) by Stephanie Queen
4-stars
This second chance romance was my first read by Stephanie Queen and it was a great introduction. As this was the third book of the series, I can honestly say that it can be read as a standalone as I had no problem jumping in with book 3.
This story follows Kace and Glory, two broken characters with an emotional past. The author did a great job in conveying those emotions and tension, as the reader I felt as if I could feel those emotions through the pages. It was heavy, unpredictable, heart breaking, and complex.
I enjoyed how this wasn’t your typical romance read, it was a nice change! I hope to read more about these characters in the future!
This is not my first book by this author but it is certainly one of my favorites by her. I enjoyed being pulled in from the beginning. This author’s use of attention to details made the story feel realistic. The characters are connectable and bring the story to life. I enjoyed this romance story about these highschool sweethearts. Who knew that one night and one crash could change fate for both of these characters. What will fate have in store for these two? I enjoyed watching their growth and their chemistry together. They truly made the story fun and entertaining to read for me. I highly recommend this book and this author.
Bad Man on Campus is book three in the Big Men on Campus series by Stephanie Queen. This high quality second chance romance was often hard to read as it pulled on the old heart strings, but easy to relate to. These characters were high school sweethearts who lost their way. Life was often cruel and my heart hurt for Glory. I got the feeling that both were missing pieces of themselves. Tragedy reigned, but love triumphed. They were given another chance at that elusive ever after.
Bad Man on Campus was a scorching hot read that will arouse and astound. A gripping tale that left fond memories. 4 stars
Bad Man On Campus: A Second Chance College Romance by Stephanie Queen is the third book in the Big Men On Campus series. This is a fantastic second chance romance that really draws on the emotion of the two characters. I found that this wasn’t the typical sports romance that I thought it was going to be and it really took me by surprise. I always enjoy this authors work but this book for me was easily my favourite. I connected with the characters instantaneously and really felt their journeys. The book was so well written and developed perfectly. I really enjoyed every part of this book and would highly recommend it.
Kace and Glory Rose were high school sweethearts until a tragedy tore them apart. 3 years later they have a second chance for love and happiness. Glory Rose is burdened with guilt and denial about her problem with alcohol. Kace has his own guilt about how things played out after the death of his sister. Will they really have a chance when he's trying to keep their relationship a secret from his parents? Will his guilt cover-up ruin their chances? Or will they learn to forgive and move on... Each of the stories in this series can be read stand-alone. Looking forward to reading Brick's story next.
This was a great 5 star second chance romance. I really enjoyed this story and I was pulled in right from the beginning. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster.
Kace & Glory were high school sweethearts, after a tragedy these two were separated for a few years. When they are reunited, the feelings reignite. Will they be able to move forward together?
Overall this was a great read. I’m really enjoying the series. The author does a great job with her writing. This book can be read as a stand alone. If you're looking for a great series, 1-click and get started today.
This was a good read but for some reason I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped. I found Glory to be self absorbed and lacking good decisions, especially when she gets chance after chance to make the right choices. Kace is great, trying to fix her and going to battle for her, at his own expense. There was a lot of drama, which kept it interesting but I just kept cringing with Glory’s actions. Overall it was an ok read for me. I was sent a complimentary copy and I am choosing to leave my honest review.
Painful story as well as romantic and sweet. Glory and Kace were high school sweethearts until an accident changes their lives. But now 3 years later their paths cross again, and it's as if nothing has changed between them. But the accident and its consequences and the wounds that are not yet fully healed will make this couple's love story go through some potholes. I've been moved on more than one occasion, seeing Glory's pain and seeing how Kace couldn't help her, though he never stopped trying, nor did he lose faith in them. Very emotional story.
This series gets better with each book and this one had me on an emotional roller coaster that pulled at my heart so I couldn't put the book down until I read the last word. I loved the second chance romance between Glory and Kace after tragedy had pulled them apart. If you enjoy sports romance that pulls you in so you feel like you're a part of all that's happening, don't miss "Bad Man on Campus". I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Confronting and real This is a second chance romance novel and the third in a series. It does not run along the same lines as other second chance novels I have read. It has a raw edge to it as Glory faces the demons of her past and Kace tries to stand by her side. The author has interwoven a very confronting issue throughout the story extremely well and I was vested from start to finish. A brilliant addition to the series.
Bad Man on Campus, the third book in the Big Men on Campus series by Stephanie Queen is a second chance romance you don’t want to miss. Kace and Glory were high school sweethearts before a tragic event made them lose touch. Years later, they meet back up in college and let the emotional rollercoaster begin. Trust me you will feel every emotion and your heart will break for these two. I’m not a huge new adult/college romance reader, but this story left an impression on me.
Bad Man on Campus tells the story of Kace and Glory. Kace and Glory grew up together and are now on campus together. In a car accident, Glory killed Kace's sister Sky. Both Kace and Glory are in search of a happy ending that will keep them together.
A good story, but it was very hard to get into. Characters do not seem relatable, but the two main characters do have tragic flaws.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Stephanie knows how to write gut wrenching sports romances like no one else. Literally the emotion reading this book leaves a person drained. Kace & Glory is a beautiful story of forever love and tragedy that tears your heart out. Do not miss reading this book. It’s tragedy & triumph rolled into a wonderful read.
This book is the third in the series and goodness, my emotions were tested with this one. Kace and Glory were childhood sweethearts before they lost contact only to reconnect some years later. Can they overcome events in the past that haunt them? A well written story that gripped me from the first page.
I started the series with this book. I am going to have to backtrack and catch up on the others. Glory and Kace...My heart. Their story is tragic and magical. What the two of them have to work through to make it to the other side is inspiring. I loved seeing the path they took. This book was a delightful surprise.
